Shouldn’t it be possible to transfer a character to a locked realm where one already has characters on? Logically, the same argument as for character creation applies: If you’re already on the server, the total number of connections to that server doesn’t change.
I don’t think it’s a technical limitation either, since the same check (do you have characters on that realm) has to be performed for character creation.
It could be possible, but we dont know the required effort nor does it correlate with the devs intend to reduce the overall load on established mega servers.
They want people to leave them, not stay there. And adding new characters to that server will in return only increase the likelyhood of that player staying, rather than leaving.
For the sake of the argument:
They would need to check for a character thats already on the server before transfer.
They then would have to check for other metrics, like time played recently (maybe last 30 days) on the destination server (in comparison to time spent on other server/s), to make sure that the person who wants to transfer additional characters to that mega servers is in reality not adding to server load by transfering additional characters.
Considering all this, I firmly believe that the exception you (and others) are hoping to carve out for themselfes, while possible, wont be implemented in the near future or possibly ever.
Transfer to locked realms should be allowed if the player has a level 30 (?) character on the locked realm.
I missed the great free transfer of the horde from Firemaw to Golemagg, but I already had some characters on Golemagg. Now I can only start leveling them up, because I am sure I do no want to play on Firemaw horde, and I can’t transfer anything.
