[Troll-RP] Legacy of Zul - Stewards of Trollkind 🐍

LEGACY OF ZUL

Zulathra’s Folly – for twelve millenia since have these tides of despondency crashed upon the shores of Zandalar. For twelve millenia after, has our caste stood in stalwart support of this kingdom. Dazar’alor, never conquered; Zandalar forever, for we have made it so.

The ailings of the castes, the contradictory visions of the Loa and the inaction of the Throne have all been mitigated – the precarious balance of this kingdom preserved – by the true stewards of trollkind.

Not Rastakhan. Not Zul’jin, nor the Darkspear; we are the Legacy.

What is the Legacy?

Arcanital Torkazi, speaker of Ksu’la, has watched this period of liminality – the twilight of God-King Rastakhan and the dawn of his sole heir, Queen Talanji – with consideration. An unbudging believer in the irreplaceable merits of the ancient caste system – which has upheld the hierarchy and social order of Zandalar more-or-less untoppled before the Blood War – now moves to act.

The lenient and upstanding character of Queen Talanji has brought forth renewal yet also threatens to overturn the privileges vested into the faithful of Zanchul, should this trajectory of change and emancipation continue unopposed.

The Legacy of Zul, at its core, is a cabal of likeminded priests, scholars, and otherwise influential members of the troll kingdom bearing ambitions of claiming seats in the next Zanchuli Council, from which they shall direct the course of history to its rightful trajectory. Should the wails of a thousand butchered tribes be silenced, should trollkind resurge into another glorious empire under Talanji’s enlightened rule, it must do so under eyes of custodians with a singular goal – Zanchul reinvigorated, cleansed of the grime of blood, crazed oracles, and failed coups.

Troll politics are more like a blood sport. – Zolani, Blade of the King.

What do we do – Piety and Politics

The guild has been a long-term dream of mine to fulfil a niche that’s been abjectly missing in the field of troll RP: haughty, imperious and opulent nobility, pious and power-hungry priests that serve as the Golden Throne’s aides and advisors – as well as dictating the ever-important decrees of the Loa from on-high! In order to facilitate a dualistic depiction of an political group, we will be seeking to cater more exclusive guild storylines, as well as events for the wider troll community as a whole.

For guild members:
We offer a deep-dive into the cutthroat politics taking place in the courts of the world’s oldest civilization, the power-struggles between cliques and cults of different Loa – a secret war, if you will.

Join the cabal in accumulating influence atop the gilded heights of Zanchul as well as the wider troll kingdom – achieve your goals, which skirt on the edge of the dignity bestowed upon the faithful! Seek out the most ambitious and ruthless of Zanchul, should you want to embark on storylines of blackmail, intrigue, quests of power and reckoning with the failures of troll imperialism. Engage in rediscovering and reinterpreting the vast history of trollkind --the pursuit of knowledge often intertwines with the agenda of the Zanchuli, after all!
Alongside the above, casual nights of roleplay involving the more ‘menial’, daylight duties of the troll nobles, e.g:

  • a) Overseeing that the tasks of the lower castes are completed, such as constructure, agriculture, shipbuilding, trade.
  • b) Philosophical debates amidst your fellow faithful (plots and schemes.)
  • c) Smaller pilgrimages to the dens of the Loa, searches for reagents, snobbing it up in the commercial district of the Zocalo etc.

For the wider community:
We intend to embody an active element of the higher-class of Zandalar in the community. The public face of the elites, with the insinuations of political plots and cabals left in the shadows. This includes:

  • a) Public sermons, history readings, sponsoring grand hunts or tournaments solo or in co-operation with other guilds.
  • b) Diplomatic ventures to ascertain the health of allied states in the Horde, (seize the chance of opened borders to the elven kingdoms while we can, right?) As well as hosting foreign dignitaries in the greatest and oldest city of all!
  • c) Antagonistic rivalries with foreign elements that don’t take kindly to old-guard Zandalari asserting their claim to supremacy – via artifacts, intelligence, or otherwise. Respectively, tenuous alliances with unlikely actors – patience is a virtue, the downfall of all who’ve wronged the inheritors of Dazar is inevitable!
  • d) Offering patronage for the citizens of Zandalar who require the talents, knowledge, connections, or the protection of the elites – in return for favours or fealty, in turn.

Membership – Who are we looking for?

We would like to cast as wide of a net as possible amongst the higher class of Zandalari trolls. Whether you’re a brawny, muck-reeking chosen of Krag’wa, a seafaring Gral-Priest, an audacious Pa’kura, a no-nonsense, landowning speaker for Torcali, an influential merchant, a Chronicler concerned on the velocity of change in the Empire, a power-hungry officer of the Rastari…
Reach out for Arcanital Torkazi, or better yet, attend an exclusive feast held in the halls of Zanchul in 9TH OF APRIL!) Then, the faithful and the ambitious shall agree on shaping the Legacy of trollkind, together.

FAQ:

Double u-tee-eff, are you guys Zulians? Wasn’t Zul that mon who was crazy about the G’huun kool-aid??

  • The likeliest question comes to the fore! It’s been a long-understood concept in the troll community that Zulian, as terminology in the lore, doesn’t strictly refer to the latest coup of blood heretics in Zanchul. Harkening back to the Empire of Zul, the peak of troll dominion, the term often refers to the height of troll power and an aspiration to achieve that dominance. After all, any troll worth their tusks dreams of being great again (thanks, Lorewalker Cho!) The Legacy of Zul is another take on that concept, unique in that the cabal yearns for that great reconquista to be dictated from the top, with a strong Divine-Right-to-Rule Talanji at the helm and Zanchul retaining its hegemony in the process.

I have a priest-caste Zandalari, but y’alls ideology seems extreme. Can you tell a bit more on the kinds of characters that could feasibly join?

  • Glad you asked! The cabal accepts those with a matching vision for the future of their ancient society. That, of the caste-hierarchy assuring security and the favour of the Loa and that trollkind is bound to face their ancient enemies in a war of extermination. This is a vision that is not necessary for members pre-entry into the cabal, but one they can be allured to and convinced of during their storylines. We highly encourage characters with their own storylines, ambitions, or quests of power to utilize them as a reason for joining a clique of troll politickers and priests!

What are the actual limits and powers invested into the Zanchuli? It all seems a little vague on Warcraft.wiki.gg…

  • That’s because, dear reader, it is. The original lore-tablet from Isle of Thunder first claimed that the Zanchuli Council dictates every aspect of Zandalari society, whereas in Battle for Azeroth has the more nuanced portrayal of a wider Zanchuli caste as the middle manager-esque characters who interpret the wisdom of their Loa to the masses, the military and the Throne itself.
In roleplay, while this does indicate ourselves to be dictating-divine-will from above in-universe, this does not stand to god-mote or power-play other elements of the troll community around (unless agreed upon by the involved parties!)

Do you recruit bodyguard, agent or spy type characters? Politicians need their auxiliaries and aides, no?

  • We do, in fact! Why it’s not publically advertised as of right now, is we desire to have a strong core of Zanchuli to establish itself in the guild, before potentially branching out. If you’ve a concept that you imagine could work in tow with a Zanchuli cabal, hit us up!

Word spreads in the courts and plazas of Zanchul. The haruspex gaze to the heavens and witness the constellation of the snake unhinging its jaws, its yearning rising ever grandiose and brazen. The Zanchuli congregate to indulge, discuss and debate on the omens and the trajectory for this brimming new age. With a storm approaching in the west, and reports of roaming mogu in the dunes of Vol’dun, Arcanital Torkazi bares his ambitions…

The launch event has been set!

9TH OF APRIL, 20:00 SERVER TIME, the cunning and the wise shall gather to socialize and scheme - first in the Terrace of the Chosen, and a disclosed location later on. If you’ve yet to make contact or just curious to see the faces present, feel free to join us. Later on, however, the cabal will form in a private location only for guild-members.

I updated the FAQ, too! Give it a peek, and hit us up if you’re interested to join. After the Rush’ai in Withebark village, we embark on our first campaign in May! :smiling_imp:

Whilst many of Azeroth's denizens are on their egg hunt in celebration of the Noblegarden, the minds of Zanchul are restlessly churning. As the radiant sun illuminates the heights of the gilden pyramids each dawn with brilliance, and the celestial bodies seem to align themselves in favour of trollkind, the echoes of will become shouts of purpose. Seven dawns and seven dusks, so the patterns declare.
The wheel keeps ever-turning, ever-spinning. Yet, the closer the hour comes, the more the sense of greatness dwells in the determined few. Indifference to contemplation, contemplation to preperation, preperation to action. A new beginning is at hand.
Who could refuse the call of earth, sea and sky, when such divine carves the path to success. It's just . . . magnificent.

We hope everyone enjoyed their easter time with family, friends or just themselves! In a week’s time we will finally have our coveted banquet, heralding a new vision for trollkind!
We hope to see many kindred spirits and like-minded goblet-grapplers. And feel free to reach out with any unanswered questions.
Until then, have a pleasant week!

A short-story to commemorate the launch day of Legacy of Zul, lesgoooooo!

The Arcanital’s Burden

An axebeak shrieks – the cacophony of pterodax, bats and a myriad of simian, reptilian and avian calls in a spiraling and perpetual panic. The crust of the world fluttered, tectonic upheaval and arcane catastrophy wreaking irreparable havoc on a world once observed atop the Zandalar Mountains – a world once untarnished, the blood of butchered tribes nourishing the jungles, ornaments to the gilded cage under Azshara’s tyranny.

With frenetic haste and the determination to cast aside life and spirit to safeguard the Holy Land, the few mages of Zuldazar raced against time; against the stormfront of fel-clouds, against the consequences for reckless sorcery.

All would be lost – the trolls, once ascendant torchbearers of civilization, flung themselves to the dirt, cowering like animals from the fire coveted by their conquerors.

The immaculate, awesome might of Lei Shen’s legions was a sight to behold. Discipline, the likes of which was nurtured with stonebinding and the crack of the whip alone. The Zandalari, the apex of empires and masters of their own natures – masters of all nature, in service to the gods that walked amongst them, appeared humbled by the Thunder King’s amassed force at the gates of Uldum.

The power the Mogu were poised to claim stood to establish eternal paradise for the citizens of both kingdoms. They’d nothing to fear, no foe to pester them, a glorious future assured – such was the results of Zulathra’s enlightened foresight, basking in self-satisfaction and gleaming with the immortality granted by the Thunder King – he’d spread this splendour to every corner of the world, Zandalar would be ETERNAL…-

The High Priest’s shadow was among the first to be singed onto the ground he stood upon. The pillar of white-hot fire, Zulathra’s Folly– for the first time in history, the denizens of Zuldazar fell to their knees in despair at the sight of its towering blaze.

Burning.

Melted flesh and searing agony.

Flash-thawing the peaks of Alterac, blistering the essence of even the Loa.

Burning, reducing the ambitions of Amani to naught but ash.

Lungs burning, eyes boiling, hairs singed – caught in the inferno, trollkind is set to draw its final breath – helpless like cubs afore the focused fury of fire.

Isle of Thunder

Torkazi’s eyes rapidly blinked wide open – the high-pitched ringing of white-hot annihilation, of Jintha’s smoldering corpse left in the ditch, of tidal waves consuming everything, tangible as the crash of lightning off the shoreline; overbearing as the downpour over the marshlands securing the perimeter of Lei Shen’s palace. Snorting, clearing his perpetually clogged sinuses from the upset and morbid exhilaration, the Arcanital combed back a mane matted by exertion and the deplorable conditions, reasserting dignity.

With a turn on his heels, he regarded the mewling, muck-wracked and grimy thing apprehended by the Bladeguard with a stoic sense of scorn. The paltry remnants of tribal auxiliaries – conscripts, in truth, were prone to insubordinate acts in spite of the Zandalari’s grace – the propensity to overlook failure, to place faith in the descendants of Aqir-slayers, empire builders. Rarely was this repaid with naught but venomous leers and murmurs on the virtues of their benefactors.

This was not to last.

With plumes of black smoke billowing from his clenched fist, he breathed deep in the sulfur which first set his people on this despondent, downward spiral; the force as affable as it was atrocious.

The burden of the Arcanital was not only to know that trollkind’s each defeat was wrought by fire; it was also to wield the very flame which shattered the Empire of Zul.

An ultimate duty to safeguard what remains from joining the sea of cinders.

With a consummate elegance, Torkazi lowered himself. Clasping the side of the Gurubashi’s skull, an array of golden rings caressing their temple, they were made an example of – their cries of agony a brutish reminder for the flame Torkazi had resolved to shield them from.

I have heard Torkazi hates elves and humans, but will actually stop by and help them save the world against mage hunters (or support parties in Suramar).

If he’s such an amazing person towards his sworn elven enemies, he must the best with trolls! So yeah, I recommend the guy!

Our kingdom never conquered, Zandalar eternal; my descendants will reap the rewards from suffering the presence of lessers, should it mean claiming their secrets, charting maps and defenses…

Thanks for the endorsement, we’ll see you when our next diplomatic venture takes us to the mana-wracked hellscape that is Suramar!
