I can’t help but notice that all the shadow priests from the 50 000 dollars tournament (on the horde side of course) were trolls, instead of undead.
I know shadow guard is good, as well as the -20% healing debuff (cant remember the name)…like yeah both sound good as hell, but isn’t devouring plague better?
I’m not sure that shadow guard deals that much dmg compared to devouring plague, but then again I could absolutely be wrong.
Well you are absolutely wrong 
Shadowguard scales very well with spellpower, and it procs both from ranged and melee attacks, and as long as your mana lasts you have 100% uptime while Devouring only lasts for some time on a 3 minute cooldown (and it’s not even that powerful to be honest). Trolls also have Berserking, which is a very nifty racial for priests in general.
Fair enough. The biggest reason I could see someone going troll instead of undead is devouring plague getting dispelled by paladins, priests, dwarfs, ice block, and consumables, which (let’s be honest) happens quite a bit. Offensive dispell on the alliance is very rare.
Shadow guard is way better than DP: it almost never gets dispelled, it’s really cheap, scales very well, procs blackout, and so on.
It’s very fun to use, and definitely adds some flavor while leveling up (you gotta maintain it, it’s more than worth it), and it’s awesome in pvp.
I still think that, if you wanna do pure healing, dwarf priest is the best priest race in the game because of desperate prayer (op as hell), stoneform, and fear ward, but overall troll is really good.
Its not specificly the damage. Healing debuff is very strong, and with blackout, you get a reflective shield that has a chance of stunning. Meaning that if someting does goes wrong, you have a chance to get away, making it extremely potent vs Rogues and other melee.
Those who know their priests, will always roll troll, for pve and pvp
It depends on the match up, undead is still stronger against specific enemies, wotf is still amazing against classes with fear and healing debuff does nothing against classes without heals (unless they are using consums).
Not to mention if you are being bursted down shadowguard can only proc every now and then, but if you are spamming touch of weakness you get a chance for blackout proc on every gcd (against melee).
