Trust Level 3 + Flag Abuse ACC bound šŸ§ (update)

So people using the R word and C word arenā€™t banned (yes, I know a few) but using a B word two times resets my entire progress? Ok lol.

experiments a Betaā€™s though.

But, the point of this thread is that:
1: they plan to make alts ACC bound(for me to post gifs from my alts :D)

2: that Mass flagging will be culled, and that more peoples post wont get nuked.

If you do not break the rules, it has no effect. It just buries the post, everyone can still read the post, they can even like it. There is no experiment.

I have had comments voted down, particularly if you upset someone from RP communites. One of the other MVPs made a comment explaining how something online worked and they all downvoted him. It has no effect other than hiding the comment because there is no rule breaking.

If a comment is flagged and is breaking the rules, you receive a temporary ban, then yes you will reset your TL progress. There is no experimentation.

Disliking features of a message board system does not make them experimental.

And I have a problem with that and want it changed or removed.

And Iā€™m an active participant. I want my trust level 3. I donā€™t want to work towards it again just because I received a short ban.

Yeah i think having to do it all over again sucks a lot though tbh

The World of Warcraft forums are unique in the sense that instead of everyone having a static ID they allow us to fluctuate between a gazillion characters. Personally I have not liked this and itā€™s not something that is ever going to change. It was a problem on the old forums too but has different issues here.

They are addressing that with the changes, probably to ease their workload dealing with reported posts. Making improvements or changes does not make something an experiment.

You arenā€™t entitled to hold on to TL3 if you misbehave, itā€™s a direct consquence of misbehaving. It would be very wrong to keep a trust level you donā€™t meet the standard for.

I never misbehaved. I used a B word two times in reply to a person who DID misbehave, and yet only I got a ban. You should know by now that Iā€™m one of the least ā€œmisbehavingā€ people on these forums.

But hey, just leave the people who use the C and R word on a daily basis unbanned. /s

And what exactly is standard for these forums? To be a carebear who hugs everyone and farts flowers?

If you retaliate with rule breaking then you will be treated the same as the person you are upset with. People often try to bait others, which is why itā€™s better to just report and move on.

Iā€™ve seen plenty of people go quiet after having expletive rants on the forums. They are clearly serving their time out.

Can you read? I said that only I got banned.

I can imagine this went down like this:

I know i can post a gif but dont relink xD

Well, I thought I saw someone post in the last few days saying how they lost their trust level due to flagging by their ā€œforum enemyā€. It had an elf avatar.

On the rules bit: itā€™s very stinky. I was retroactively banned for a thing I wrote two weeks before Mr.Hozzikostas had some presentation and he looked horrible, with black eye bags and stuff. I commented on that and on the same day I got banned for something unrelated.
So, thereā€™s rules and thereā€™s ā€œrulesā€.

When you say this framework is here to foster socializing, I kinda fail to see how that is possible if the first thing you stumble upon are limitations in the way how you can express yourself?
Is that even legal btw? I feel marginalized because the freedom of expressing myself through stupid gifs has been taken away from me.

If you want, look up ā€œcancel cultureā€. Probably from California.
This format is perfect for it.
Pigeonholing you into conformity before you can even start posting with the tools every other forum allows by default.

I canā€™t comment on an individual case that I know nothing about. There is nothing to stop both parties misbehaving from being reported and receiving a temporary ban. You donā€™t get a green card to break the Code of Conduct if someone else breaks them. That would just be anarchy.

It can be hard not to get baited and you have to learn to leave it sometimes. It is generally not worth engaging with people who resort to that kind of thing.

No, but I guess if someone else doesnā€™t get banned for doing the same or worse than I did, then thatā€™s fine?

And baiting should also be bannable, because it is a negative social interaction, no? Doesnā€™t matter if itā€™s not against the code of conduct.

The limitations are there to encourage, if they let everyone just say whatever the hell they wanted then this place would be an incredible cesspit. The game is no different, there are rules and report systems. They will take appropriate action when necessary.

But how do you know they didnā€™t get banned ?

That was me yes .I nearly got tl3 but got banned and went down to one again from tl2

  1. Itā€™s already a cesspit.
  2. What exactly changed since the old forums?

Because I saw them posting after that without any noticeable break.

Then I feel bad for you thatā€™s all I can offer because the c word should not be used at all on these forums .

I get baited all the time, I dontā€™ tend to bite. There is no point in me reacting to people like that. They usually have low trust levels themselves. Most TL3s are people who behave well on the forums, so IMO the system works. Itā€™s not that I agree with their views but they are capable of expressing them without resorting to rule breaking behaviour. Not everyone wants to behave and they would rather not have TL3 and be able to express themselves more freely and take the bans when given. The bans add up and get longer and longer.

It is unfortunate if someone gets away with bad behaviour. I do not actually know how many flags it takes before a post is buried and reviewed. Or if it even requires multiple posts to flag a post sufficiently to be reviewed.

TL doesnā€™t mean the person canā€™t contribute to debates. It really just seems to be the gif posting. Trusted links can be made by TL2 and we can do links that can be copied and pasted at any level using the </> button.

Cesspit? Because of gifs? Hardly.

But it would raise an issue of insufficient moderation even higher than it is now.
Which is probably why Blizzard wants it this way. Itā€™s cheapest on their running costs while utilizing the playerbase to act as gatekeepers of gif privileges (you have to be liked to get sufficient likes to meet the quota). Which is wrong. Noone should be subjected to mob mentality of networked catty men and women like they exist on these forums.

ā€œThe limitations are there to encourageā€ sounds like straight out of 1984 or Brave new world.
