As title says: I’ve been playing quite a bit of SoD this year and as it’s slowing down a bit atm and with the fresh servers opening next week I’m keen to give it a shot.
I was all the more happy about getting back to playing mage for PvP. BUT after dabbling on my HC mage lvl 50 - and that’s probably the SoD curse - the frostbolt gameplay feels extremely boring. Not even having Ice Lance to get that good shatter feel… well, feels wrong.
So I’m wondering since I mainly played mage during vanilla, is there a more satisfying class/spec in terms of gameplay that also performs well in PvP ?
I’m all ears !

Do you prefer range class? Or open for melee?
Maybe you wanna give shaman or shadow priest a try? More button variation to press, and they both can be good in pvp. Warlock is super good to, but a bit more slow, and tankier than mage.

Warlock gameplay is also sbolt spam in raids so not that different from mage.
To be fair all classes have 1-2 button rotations in pve. Pvp however is where class kits are used the most.
oldest misconception. wlocks are NOT tankier than mage unless both classes stand pefectly still and press no buttons.
yes, lock has slightly more health. but mage has 4 different shielding abilities and have the exact same armor as a lock. so you dont even need to take into consideration the fact that mages can actually kite and can become totally immune to all damage for 20 seconds in total (ice block)
dont play warlock for pvp if your not the faint of heart and dont like being camped (because warlocks srsly suffer from ressing without a pet and healthstones)
unless u want to strictly do duels as an immobile, low range, low damage, 2 button rotation class.
the only exception to this myth is soul link, which doesn’t make as much a difference as you might think, once aq rolls round.
