Turkish players and depreciating Turkish lira

Hello Dear World of Warcraft players and Game Masters. As someone who has played this wonderful game for many years, I regret to say that the depreciation of money in our country no longer allows it. I have been waiting for the Turkish lira to gain value for about 2 years and to be able to play this game in accordance with my budget. But the situation is getting worse. We can’t afford to buy new versions. I implore you honourable Wow players and Masters to do a study on this subject. thank you very much for your understanding in advance. Me and my brother are looking forward to hearing from you. Take care of your health during these difficult days. Enjoy the game…

I just checked because I thought you might be exaggerating but it’s actually really bad.

2015: 1 USD = 2.52 TRY
2020: 1 USD = 6.50 TRY

Means the US dollar gained almost +150% value in the past 5 years to the lira. This means that if a WoW sub was 90 lira in 2015, it’s now 270.

I’m not from Turkey but I understand your frustration. But, I doubt anything will happen.

Doubt there’s anything blizz can do, we had a similar situation with british pound because of the currency conversion rate and many people just selected UK as their country in order to pay less for subscription. There’s nothing really stopping us from selecting Turkey as country, it’s not like blizzard checks IDs when making an account.
So until then, you have the option to pay with gold.

Many of my friends are waiting for this to improve. Recover many players. Blizz does not lose. Will win. We need, you our valuable Wow players to support us. Maybe our voice reaches the game masters.

Blizzard pays their employees, services and the such in EUR/USD. So no chance a currency adjustment incoming.

walks away in South African Rand

Ah yes, I remember the dozens of threads from UK players moaning about it and demanding Blizz apply a special sub just for them.

Charging a direct conversion of USD to GBP back then was a massive thing though. Huge disparity between the Dollar and the Pound.

Now, not so much - but still relevant. I mean, they can charge what they like but it’s a bit off to essentially charge one country more base-line (taxes omitted etc).

If you don’t to understand something maybe ask for clarification instead of this smug display of stupidity.

There are alot of countries with their currency dropping down.
Im afraid that none of them is ‘special’ so that blizzard will reduce their moneymaking to please them.

all you have to do is to vote for capitalism instead Erdogan .

It sucks. Maybe they should allow buying expansions as a loan. Pay for 24 months, no extra payment. If you cant pay they pause the sub or something.

So rather than make a demeaning remark why don’t you do the grown up thing and state what it is you think I misunderstood and then explain it in a way that makes me understand it.

The demeaning remark is well deserved as for the pound situation, up until 2014 it was 9£ instead of the current 10£, so brits didn’t complain because they were getting it cheaper to begin with. But not only brits benefit from this since anyone can changing to or choose UK as their country in the account settings.

Can we from Bulgaria get something too?
We are much worse than turkish people.

This is essentially a political problem.

Your currency is depreciating because of the man at the top. I’m not sure why Blizzard should essentially subsidise your self inflicted wound.

I wonder how much of a life-span the subscription model has, this is just one of the reasons why.

Many hugely successful titles have decided to adopt F2P model with cosmetics and such being optional purchases with in-game stores.

Between tokens and bots this is probably preventing that from happening here, the price for an expansion on top of a subscription model is quite demanding compared to most modern titles, most probably dream of the set-up blizz has going here lol.

I do think it stunts wow in some respects but I doubt it will change until they are hurting for cash (not anytime soon as many still happily pay) or shifting priorities to something else.

That bit I understood perfectly. The lack of understanding appears to come from your end in so far as the comment I made was obviously a joke because as far as I know no one from the UK actually made any complaints about it.

A couple of things to note.

1/ Please try and acquire a sense of humour.

2/ Demeaning comments are never deserved and only serve to make the originator look foolish with their lame attempt at trying to make themselves look superior.

Of course, I’m willing to be proven wrong if you can show me where the Brits complained about this.

Yes, it is a completely political problem. We are in this situation as a result of the wrong policies of the management. There are some minorities who can see this mistake. But we can’t do anything. We are deprived of doing things we love. Rich people are comfortable. But we are in trouble. I have to put approximately 1/4 of my salary in the game. We need your support in the troubled situation we are in. It is easy to say “It’s your problem”. It is difficult to be unity

I am really sorry that you are in this position, we have these threads pop up every couple of months actually and I do feel for you and others in your position.

However a couple of things

  1. you can play for free with a token if you grind the gold

  2. WoW (gaming in general) is a luxury and should never be a priority over shelter, food and fuel.

  3. look to the world right now, read around these very forums and world news and please take note of what is happening and realise that there is going to be a global recession that hits us all hard. Now may not be the time to ask for this.

Again I have sympathy for you, I’ve lived through financial struggles and get it so please don’t think me harsh for saying prioritise wisely and fight for better.
