Twin emps scarabs aggro

On Twin emps we get sometimes random yellow scarab pulls and I’m trying to find some info if there is something to them?

On one of the pulls before spell-emp teleporting I saw a scorpion next to me ticking single digit yellow damage and moving to me, I started moving away (aside of moving to the opposite side for the spell-emp) and saw that that yellow scorpion was pulling everything by proximity as it moved. Healers were healing and none of them changed target. Tried to AoE them in a corner after a while to not pull more but they took me down and only then went on healer that was still alive (it was already a wipe).

In some other logs I’ve see a single bite done by a hunter pet. That scorpion with aggro on me - 100% damage done by ignite for some reason (no other damage and the ticks were like singe digits).

Not sure what you are trying to ask, but if you have a few mages you can kill them in a couple of gcds while they are small. You don’t want to be the only one doing it though. There can be many reasons they are pulled in the first place. Demo shout, thunderfury, multishot, whirlwind etc.

Yes, wasn’t clear. My first question is can those pulls be avoided and if not what’s the best solution. Quick AoE should work although bigger ones like blast wave will pull some extras

The best option is to not use any kind of aoe abilities, including thunderfury and demoralizing shout. If you have people who are too eager chasing top logs you’ll have a hard time doing not getting any at all though. It’s mostly warriors and hunters in my experience. Hunters love pulling stuff with multishot and feign death to lose the aggro.

Edit: Once the neutrals are pulled you ideally want any dps near them to single target them down asap. AoE works, but will most likely pull alot extra, which might cause your dps to take alot of unnecessary damage.

No AoE or TF, our hunters don’t use multishot and warriors use whirlwind when no bugs are nearby. We rarely have unwanted adds this way.

Yeah this works well.
It’s worth noting OP that aggroing 1 small scarab and dragging it around WILL aggro other nearby scarabs as well without anything hitting them. So if say 1 of your warriors WW and hit a small scarab by accident shortly before the teleport, he then doesn’t kill it and starts running to the other side to keep DPS’ing the boss he will aggro several other scarabs on the way there.
Note this doesn’t have to be a warrior or a whirlwind but can be literally anything, TF proc, Demo shout, Blade Flurry, Multishot, Whatever.
