Twinks are ruining Time Walking

Having twinks in your dungeon group can be a significant advantage due to their incredible damage output, which often speeds up runs. However, there’s a growing frustration with twink tanks who rush through dungeons, ignoring enemy packs. This behavior causes the packs to reset, effectively blocking the rest of the party from progressing further into the dungeon.

Attempts to communicate with these players are typically met with indifference. They simply do not care. As a result, the entire party suffers, unable to reach bosses or claim any loot.

To make matters worse, these twink tanks often bring along alts that either follow them or remain idle at the dungeon entrance. This setup gives them control over vote-kicking mechanics, making it impossible to remove them from the group.

The situation is further exacerbated by the lack of meaningful reporting options. Currently, players can only report offensive character names or chat messages, leaving no avenue to address disruptive gameplay behavior.

What are we supposed to do? If we leave, we get penalized. It’s a trap.

I’ve never seen a pack reset behind a tank quick enough for others to get blocked behind them. I’ve not experienced tanks with alts on follow either tbh, not saying you’re wrong but its not as common as you think it is.

Nothing. There is nothing you can do outside of simply afking as well and wait for either a vote-kick, or leave on your own, or (the ideal) have the dungeon completed because they didn’t care.

Until it becomes so prevalent that new players (and old) start leaving the game due to it, there is no incentive for Blizzard to work on redesigning scaling, twinking and everything related to it.

In an instance packs should never reset, but the other issue is that patrols can block the path. And even if you wait it out, you still need to know exactly where to step to not attract enemies on the side. No new player knows that.

Votekick is usual solution, but it also depends on the players.

Real solution: Fix the scaling.

But i doubt we will have any nerfs/rebuilds/fixes regarding this, problem is not significant enough to care, same thing was with F2P twink priests and lvl grind in Remix, no fixes or nerfs was introduced.

I’d say it’s a feature, not a bug. For those seeking to be done with the dungeons as fast as possible due to the fact that it’s been done dozens if not hundreds of time in the past having such a twink is a blessing.

And have you tried using kick ? I have used it atleast three times and all three times the kick was approved for such tank twinks

I think you should just embrace the maddness and let them do their thing and just follow without fighting

I assume these guys always queue as tank?
Because I never see them and I tank everything when possible myself.
But yeah I’m not understanding the point.
I thought people were twinking to help others blast through the dungeon fast.
Are these twinks just doing it for giggles or maybe that time reaver?
What else is there?

no idea, but unless they also kick those who cannot keep up with them, I see the situation as a win

I’ve returned to the game recently and wanted to level an alt before trying the endgame.

I’ve encountered these tanks, and I have to agree that it wasn’t fun at all having to run behind them all the way through Dire Maul.

The worst thing to me was, that even if I could be fast enough to keep up with the pace, I wouldn’t even be able to play the game because they one shot everything.

Overall, not a fun experience at all !

I enjoy relatively fast leveling, but I also enjoy playing the game… being a spectator and waiting for the dungeon to end to get my xp is boring…

A good portion of the usual ignorance in the replies. Which is exactly the problem. They don’t get the point, they don’t WANT to get the point. And that’s exactly why dungeons (timewalking in particular) work the way they do now. Everything is dumbed down to dumbest and fastest way possible. It’s an utter joke and they only keep it up so they have an excuse to keep the level boost in the shop. Timewalking dungeons are the next best thing people use to exploit the system but Blizz is A) too indifferent to the issues and B) actively caters to the people propagating the problem. Just a question of whether it’s active condoning it or just appeasement to try to keep the loudest foulmouths somewhat at bay. Spoiler: those people are never satisfied with anything, not even when you give in to all of their demands but somehow companies these days still cater to them as if it worked. It certainly works in making the user experience of others a miserable one. But then again most people don’t care enough to complain so things stay the way they are, and the sycophants are a mixed bag of things I can’t say out loud.

As the last point from Lullypumpsie implies, the problem was VERY apparent in Pandaria Remix but rather than packing in fixes in the future they enabled it more. Dire Maul as Tinyx mentioned is a great horrible example, and the “community” carries the design decisions because that’s what the game has come to. It’s a hollow shell of its former self that now favours drug crazed speedruns by ignorant narcissists who couldn’t give less of a fudge about anything other than their personal advancement.

Blizzard will not change a thing about this unless more people complain, but most people are dominoes whose MO is falling over and in line. Part of the reason why I stopped trying to frequent the forums. Just got here to see if there’s some sort of mega thread for Anniversay feedback. This topic was one of my gripes. Man I love timewalking and old dungeons but sweet zombie jeebus, THAT is NOT what timewalking isabout…or at least not what it used to be about, to say the least. It’s a sick joke. Still, as disillusioned as I am, I will certainly not shy away from supporting fixes to the situation when I see them.

Something I keep saying that often resonates with people is:
I want to play the game, not game the system.

Yeah. Even DPS specs which queued as Tanks (worst example I encountered was a level 70 boomkin in 545 BoE gear trying to fill the tank role, that one got kicked after the first boss :)).

One partial solution is: automatic specialization adjustment on entering to match the role you chose + locking that down…similar to BGs afaik. That should prevent the worst cases.

And if the tank then really jumps ahead and causes a negative effect on the group; vote to kick. It’s literally what it’s there for.

The main point is the scaling.

level 11 twink (love that name, it means something entirely different outside of WoW) blasts through everything pulling everything behind him… Cool.

Me as a level 80 hunter getting obliterated by defias fire mages or goblin engineers, or Scourge necromancers or gargoyles before I can even respond.

Not so cool.

I understand what a twink is and does. In both ways of the word
But what is the point for a twink to lock xp and Zerg dungeons if people don’t want them to do that.
What’s in it for the twink :man_shrugging:t3:
I could get chances at timereaver or helping people if people want that.
But is there anything beyond that?

There’s nothing really beyond what you’ve mentioned.

I’ve seen a few that felt entitled to thanks and praises because they were under the impression that their presence was a gift to these poor random players.

So basically the purpose is to get to max lvl as faster . so you can be able to play the latest expansion with the newest feature like m+/delves/raids and of course the professions and economy.

Instead of being happy that you can skip a huge time~copy paste gameplay with no results you kind of complain. Lvling doesn’t offer anything especially gold or any reward .

Why don’t you suggest classic up to wotlk(pre-heirlooms) exp lvling experience? 15-20 dungeons for 1 lvl up …40 quest for a lvl ? 2shoot abilities an so on …

As someone who multiboxes (within the rules) I think joining random groups while multiboxing should be a bannable offence. You should need permission off a pre made group to do something like that.

Scaling is whack, seriously needs to be reined in.

That said, I have no qualms of people wanting to get dungeons done quick… most people would’ve been there for the billionth time with an alt, why slow it for them?

An amicable solution;

Make the pacing slower but raise the xp gained.

Yeah, but I like filling a healing role with an overgeared Hybrid class going in DD spec. Never had an issue not being able to heal it out.

Some people actually enjoy playing the game, not just doing the damage-meter-simulator.
