If anything, it often even cheapens the character as a whole and is actually sometimes a sign of bad writing. Oh no, how original, this bad guy is also sexist and racist, just to make sure he is irredeemable and we really hate him and so the good guy can be fully justified in his effort to kill the bad guy.

True, but the Warhammer fandom has suffered from it greatly and these days so many people don’t differentiate between the lore and the memes. Like orks and “I’m a tank I’m a tank I’m a tank” or the dwarfs and their hatred for elves and magic.
To be fair most of these deserve it.

Thanks I forgot for a moment how pointless this sort of conversation is. OK low hanging fruit here goes - If I was to write a sexist character I would base it on someone who was sexist. So who is sexist? I don’t know maybe the Yorkshire Ripper, he killed 13 women and attempted to murder another 7. I think that qualifies. So why did he do it? because he wanted to call someone a tavern wench? YES. Exactly. Case closed. Turns out I was wrong.

Find it pretty weird to reference this guy, who died only a few years ago, and many of his living victims are still alive (along with the families of the deceased), instead of…Jack the Ripper, who is far more historically distant.
Now, granted, I’m a Sheffield lad, so that might be part of why, but…yeah, maybe if you’re gonna choose someone to model your bad guy after, choose someone that isn’t within living memory for a whole bunch of people. Just seems kinder that way.

I’m not sure what kind of depth or complexity that adds to the character.
Most of them aren’t even hated for their ethnicity, but their deeds. The orc clan examples weren’t even ethnicities in their own right - Stomreavers were the remnants of the Shadow Council, so they’ve got warlocks from all clans, the Burning Blade Cult is a cult that has more than orcs members and the clan is repsected and the Twilight’s Hammer Clan was made up chiefly of Shadowmoon exiles.
Because of their violent and treacherous ways.
Gurubashi being blood worshippers of Hakkar didn’t help, fair about Zandalari though. Except for in the case of the Drakkari once they started sacrificing their Loa.
Because of magic, a lot of Highborne integrated without issue into night elven society.

Not sure how me, a man, acknowleding the fact that men can be and have been pretty horrible from a social, historical, and frankly any -cal point of view makes me a sexist, but sure, if calling me that makes you feel better about your inferior grasp of the subject then go ahead.
