Hi guys, I don’t know where else to start this thread, and I hope I get fair answers here! - I’m new to healing and want to start by either resto druid or holy priest because they appeal to me the most. Though I don’t know which is best to play? Like, what are your opinions?
I plan on doing PvE mainly, more M+ than Raiding, though I look forward to doing both of course!
If you’re new to healing, holy priest is easier to get started with. Resto druid is a pro-active healer, which means you start healing before damage comes in. To do that well, you need to know when to expect damage. When you’re trying to patch people up once the damage is in, resto druid feels weak. Holy priest, on the other hand, is good exactly at that.
However, resto druid has a very, very strong toolkit, and is more preferable in M+ PuGs because of that. Holy priest doesn’t really bring anything to an M+ team apart from healing, while resto druid brings a battle res, typhoon, ursol’s vortex, and with sunfire & moonfire, they can do some damage too. The holy priest toolkit isn’t that strong there.
With that said, I still think Holy priest is a better choice for someone new to healing, even with the M+ disadvantage (and holy priest has an advantage over druid in raids), simply because it’s easier to get started with. Later on, you can always level a druid, and see if you like that better, and if you do, switch.
I’m sure that r-druids haven’t been meta in raids
That being said, I’d just try playing both of them and see which playstyle you like more. Me personally I went for holy, even-though this is an alt healer, my main is annd always will be a r-shaman!
