Undermine Update, feels , dead

Hey everyone,

I wanted to start a conversation about War Within Undermine, Blizzard’s latest update, which has been out for two weeks now. I had high hopes for this update, but after the release of the final two chapters of the campaign, it honestly feels like the excitement has already fizzled out.

I’m curious about your thoughts on a few things:

  1. Pacing of the Campaign: The last two chapters of the campaign dropped quickly, but they didn’t seem to have the same impact as earlier chapters. Did anyone else feel the ending was rushed or unsatisfying?
  2. Endgame Content: The “endgame” content Blizzard promised feels underwhelming. Is anyone still actively grinding or exploring the new systems introduced? Or has Undermine already lost its replayability?
  3. Community Feedback: I’ve been seeing a lot of discussions about the War Within Undermine and Season 2 update feeling strange. Is Blizzard failing to deliver on player expectations? Are they focusing too much on microtransactions or events that feel like filler content?

Would love to hear others’ thoughts. Is there something I’m missing here, or is War Within already on its way to becoming the next “forgotten update”?

You seem to have something against well structured texts…

So just for you i will unstructure them and won’t use any punctuation at all when replying to you i hope you feel better now

Good, now you fit in with all the other people making bad threads in this forum.

Idk, i personally subjectively don’t like Goblin theme and i am not in the zone almost at all.

I have only done the campaign and nothing else in the new zone. I mostly play wow for m+ anyways, and i havent done any of that yet.

So me trying to start a conversation about a game we all play, is somehow considered a bad thread? Considering you ment me.

Are you mental? Get help please …

No wonder the social aspect of this game, goes down the drain, with gouhls like you.

But back to topic, replying anymore to posts like yours is a waste of key presses.

Well, it’s a .x update, so the main “meat” of the patch is instanced content (Delves, dungeons, raids), since the world quest nerfs in DF, content outside instances just runs out very quickly, and riding around doing random jobs or digging up trash heaps just gets old at some point (People will keep doing it for the weeklies, but not all week long like last week)

I’m sure once people had their weekly fill of instanced content (In other words, the Vault is filled up for the week), people will do a bit more of the world content again, we’re two days into season 2, it’s too early to say whether Undermine world content is a dud or a success at this point.

Pacing of the Campaign - It felt like a decent campaign length to me; I always read the quests and do all the dialogue options first time through. The skip will be available to me next week after doing the story mode raid quest, so alts needn’t do it again and I prefer it that way.

Endgame Content - Same as every other patch. I only do open world content and delves, and focus one character at a time or I get burnt out very quickly. Having said that, I get very bored after about 6 weeks.

Community Feedback - I would have liked a bit more furthering of the main story, it feels like a drip feed at the moment.

First off, it hasn’t

but rather for 9 days, less than 1,5 weeks, but sure, let’s just round up to 2

The season started yesterday, and with all due respect it doesn´t look like you´ve actually engaged with any of it to begin with … Maybe actually run at least 2 LFR bosses or join an M+2 and actually see the endgame content before you flippantly deem it to be “underwhelming”? Otherwise you´re just seeking validation for obvious doomsaying.

Outdoor content has ALWAYS been a thing of a minority. People sniffed the copium thinking that there were “hidden masses” but it never was the case.

Ever since they stopped forcing end-game players (M+/Raid/PvP) from having to grind WQ for player power (AP, corruptions, ect…) it has been pretty much dead.

People do it for a week or something to grind whatever it is they want and then they stop playing Open World content.

It was the case with WQ in S1. It was the case in DF. It was the case in SL. And next zone/continent with open world content will be dead in 2 weeks.

Also a factor in the drop in world content participation is that world quests got nerfed hard in DF, we have 3 or 4 WQs per zone, and resets went from daily to twice a week, so world quests just run out after an hour or two of playing.

Add to that rep bonuses being warbound and (as obvious consequence) one-time, which removes any need to do WQs on alts, no wonder fewer people are out there doing WQs.

I am still at Chapter 5/6, so I can’t really tell. The Undermine story is definitely more action-packed than the rest of TWW (and most of DF) however.

The Season literally just started 52 hours ago as of this post, anyone who isn’t a NEET no-lifer or a streamer who makes money from spoiling the game on various platforms hasn’t had enough time to finish exploring the new content, let alone start grinding.

Blizzard “fails” to deliver because when they please one part of the playerbase they displease another. As it has been said multiple times in other threads, a change that makes a player refresh their subscription is the exact same reason why another player cancels it.
Yes, they focus too much on microtransations.
What is “filler” content? Everything has a purpose. Just because some players do not interact with some part of the game at all or more than once doesn’t mean it’s “filler”.

That’s not my experience. The overworld still has enough players to pretty much either not have enough time to reach a “rare” boss before it dies or to outright never be able to get a PvP cache due to being overwhelmed by the opposite faction.

When? 1st weeks of the patch? Sure. Later? No.

Campaign was fun, but I’ve done it now, so I don’t need to go back and do it again.

End game content is now raiding, m+ and pvp, as s2 has dropped, Don’t expect the world to be active for much longer, not a slight on the zone, it always happens when the new key season drops.

I can’t answer this as honestly I don’t know.

Again, different experience. Throughout all of Season 1, not just the first few weeks, there was virtually no chance of opening a Warmode chest because of being massively outnumbered by the opposite faction. I have earned the reward from only 5 out of more than 150 attempts and fights. Going afk while in the overworld for a bio break would see me dead when I returned unless I was in a very hidden place. Often bosses that would be announced by Rarescanner would have already been engaged or already killed within the 30seconds it’d take me to get there. Hell, even at pre-dawn hours in January and February you could almost always find forming group for Theater and world boss.

Even in legacy content I’d have bosses and mining nodes disappear because someone else had gotten to them first, mostly in Tanaan, Argus and Timeless Isle, but in other zones too. Storm Peaks especially always had at least 5 other players at all times, even at 03:00 in the morning (though most of them were spawncamping TLPD to sell it to others)!

Maybe I’m in a very busy cluster, I don’t know. My server (Eonar) is of Medium population but connected to 4 others, but I constantly see players from other realms too.

I doubt you have done even half the content of it so far.

Welcome to mmos.

Each content is technically a “grind”.

If you dont like it, i recommend single player games.

Not sure about it. I am currently saving doing Undermine until I get some m+ done to not fall behind on the gearing curve.

I reckon many are doing the same as I do.

So I have to assume you have checked out Fellowhip ? Seems like these devs took a piece of WoW’s endgame M+ and even the look and feel of the art style for the game and created a stand alone version. Seen some very mixed reviews about it.
