Uninstall Retail

Morning.
I wish to uninstall Retail wow (limited space on my Lap top) but keep Classic wow functional. I cant find this option in the settings. I am also concerned about damaging my Classic install, anyone know how this is done in the proper manner?

thanks.

I know this is possible from my own experience. Not too long ago I deleted retail wow and I still have classic wow installed. Probably you can do this by uninstalling world of warcraft in your ‘Program files’ directory (Configuration Screen > Programs > Add or delete a program), while keeping the world of warcraft classic untouched (they should be seperate entries or installs).

In the launcher you have a scrolldown menu right above the PLAY button where you can select your version, be sure to set world of warcraft classic and it should keep that as default for you.

In the launcher select “version: world of warcraft” (not classic) then click options -> uninstall game. Classic will remain.

They are two separate games so you can uninstall one and leave another untouched.

You can also delte the data folders of both classic and retail. After that, in the launcher select the classic version and let the game reinstall the files.
In order to avoid the reinstall of the retail data, simply move to the classic version and stop the reinstall.

If you do that you’ll lose your addons and setup though

Not if you only delete the Data folder, the addons and interface folders are placed in the"_retail" and “_classic” folders…those are the ones that you should not delete.
Anyways is strongly recommended have a backup of the “interface” folders just in case something get messed. I do that every 3-4 weeks just in case.

ps: edited to try to fix typos.

You don’t have to install or uninstall wow. You can just delete the folder or run the game from the folder or make shortcuts.

You can just select retail in the “version” drop down, click options then “uninstall game”. It doesn’t effect classic at all. Uninstalled a while ago with no problems at all.
