Uninstalling until game situation is fixed

Ok let me start by stayin you should play for as long as you feel like it, if you don’t enjoy a game for whatever reason you shouldn’t force yourself to play it. It would be irrational to do otherwise, games are supposed to be fun.

What I am about to do is explain why all the things you mentioned do not bother me just to offer another perspective in this thread, nothing more, nothing less.

There is no RPG on this earth that achieved balance. Sometimes you are going to be on the top of the meta, some times you won’t. For me this is just one more reason to not care much about numbers. You do the best you can do with the class/spec you love to play and that’s all that matters. I am going to play MM hunter forever no matter how bad or good it is, I actually prefer it if BM is better than me dps-wise because I feel more unique since most meta-slaves will go for BM.

Since the dawn of online gaming this has been a glaring issue. WoW had it since vanilla. Banning bots is a neverending cat and mouse game, you cannot ban the bots at once because the botters will adapt easier to your observation tactics. So huge banwaves happens every few months and this is when botters lose money.

There is an easy solution, it’s what Riot games did with LoL and eliminated scripting.
You allow WoW to scan your PC and your UI and you are banned as soon the WoW client spots something that proves you are botting. But then everyone will complain about their “privacy”. The botters, first and foremost, will start a huge hate bandwagon against Blizz and we all know how the community loves to jump in one of those.

I don’t play for any sense of “achievement”. I don’t beat games for a sense of achievement, i beat games because the process of beating them is fun. If I don’t find the process fun, I just don’t do it. I know that the need for a false sense of achievement is the reason games like Dark Souls plague the gaming industry these days but personally I am not doing anything for an imaginary “e-peen”, I will do it because it’s entertaining to do so.

The player who paid for boosting? They will never experience the thrill of beating a boss as a group by a hair’s breadth, while having fun and socialising with their guildies/buddies on Discord. So let them pay for boosts, these will never fill the bottomless voids in their hearts. I don’t need to compare myself to them.

Vomlir covered my thoughts on it already perfectly (besides the ones about BM and MM… ). The main thing is, logging in right now gives you no pleasure, and that’s all the reason one needs to take a break or quit.

I wish you much joy elsewhere, and hopefully we’ll see your face again, your presence will be missed here

yes. this is the way. in april i stopped and now it was refreshing doin all the new stuff. maybe ill play for 2 months and stop til the new xpack.

But joy and fun should me at 1st position. And nothin else matters.

If being top of a damage meter is that important to you then I guess a break might be in order.
Or you could just try comparing yourself to similarly geared character of the same class.
Or you could consider if you’re actually having fun playing the game rather than needing an ego boost.

This whole min-max optimised to the Nth degree mind set is damaging the game. We can’t have simpler classes to play and more complex classes because this would involve one doing more damage than the other. We can’t have bursty classes and duration classes because one would do more damage than the other in different fights and that is no longer acceptable.
Every class and spec (no matter the role these days) must do roughly the same dps all the time.

the game is done, just move on with your life.

Simple Solutions to this:

  1. Hit the training dummies, and get better. I couldn’t count how often I go to the training dummies a day.

  2. Variety. Try an Alt or different spec. See what else WoW has to offer and what you can bring to a group. I did this at the start of the expansion when Fire Mage was massively underperforming. I switched to Holy Priest, and I have had a great time playing. I then played Devastation Evoker as my main alt, what a great opportunity to try out a great new class.

  3. Quit… this is you.

Yeah optimizing your gameplay is not one of the staples of rpg genre, hear hear

It’s a matter of proportion.
Either you’re off the top of the charts on the damage meter or you uninstall the game? That’s just taking it beyond reasonableness.

It’s one thing to read the guides (even if it’s Icy Veins’ Easy Mode section) and buy whatever gems and enchantments you can reasonably afford with your levels of gold and try your hardest to do well but it’s something else entirely to uninstall the game because you are second or third on the meter.

We aren’t saying don’t bother at all, leave all your gear unenchanted and don’t waste your gold on food and potions.
We all know players care about their player power and progressing it. And we know that players will do any old boring content if you stick 0.001% damage increase buff as a reward but still uninstalling the game is taking it a bit far.

The problem isn’t self optimization. This community is obsessed with equalizing throughput while ignoring strengths and weaknesses that derive from situational utility. This mindset prompted blizz to prune out anything that makes classes fun and unique in the name of balance.
And what has it accomplished? People are still crying about metas and balance.

This is getting so out of whack that even tanks and healers are expecting to match the dps on the meters.
All the non-damage abilities are being removed, things like disarm or sunder armour etc. Even CC or Interupt is considered a wasted ability now.
