Healing is already difficult, especially now there are so many different debuffs—bleeds, diseases, magic, stupid affix etc. I use unit frames with a base color (toxic green), and they shift depending on the type of debuff. It helps me react faster, especially when a quick dispel is needed.
I don’t see how this affects gameplay in a negative way. It doesn’t automate anything…it just improves clarity.
Blizzards default frames don’t even reliably show certain things, like the insurance buff. For pres evoker, I also tweak frame colors slightly when Echo is applied. Again, it’s just for better tracking.
You are also currently writing in the topic for healers, do you heal? what did you heal that you think you can throw in your opinions about addons for healers?
Healers will simply stop playing entirely or with pugs/lfg, they just dont see it. Only ppl with knowledge with healing know how much this game rely on addons to be able play end game. Other mmos I played that suddenly announced to render few addons unusable just had huge amount people quit the game, in wow I predict healers will quit using lfg and soloqs. Ppl should have concern for this if they have any sense at all.
Yeah, I also forgot about targeted spells—Cell helps a lot with those. When there are so many casts going out, it is important. Do we really want the game to be so watered down that we don’t have to track anything? If that’s the case, maybe the people who feel that way should just stick to normal dungeons.
Its also pointless to overlap everything if we cant see what they press for defensives via combat log tracked information for addons. Its extremely unwise to say removing combat log tracked addons in general when we have no confirmation whether they are going to add those addons in default party frames or able track their cds in general. Any case I have zero faith that they are even able make something useful this late if its not been there for past 21 years either.
The default ui is so bad that players have had to improve it via addons and add needed functions on it. Which is nice and I appreciate coders free work, perhaps blizz could pay and hire some of these addon creators for the future plans to make default ui better.
Lol, I play all classes, and I’ve healed M+ and heroic raids with my progress guild in the past. I no longer raid, but I still run M+.
Yeah, but see, it’s only so difficult now BECAUSE ppl use addons. Back during WotLK, you only had one debuff to manage per boss max (f.e. curse at Kel’s frost dragon), damage came tickling in, so you had plenty of time to klick on your bar, select the healing spell, move your mouse over to the target you wanted to heal and use that spell.
If you still heal like that today, the target has died twice from random incoming damage in the meantime - and it has changed because of ppl using addons, then complaining about “the game being too easy”. Yeah thanks, it has now become way too quick for me to keep playing like I did. And no, “go classic” isn’t a solution.
Not sure I understand. Unless you are a Holy Priest, you will not have more than 9 friendly-target spells. That’s Shift/Ctrl/Alt+Left/Middle/Right Mouse buttons. Everything else is on keyboard keybind.
That number doesn’t mention unique player downloads. Some people have downloaded specific addons more than 100 times throughout their existence, for example those who always update when a new version is released. I’m probably responsible for more than 200 of AllTheThings downloads.
Even if we say that the average person downloads an addon only 10 times, which is low, that means we have almost 6 million players downloading Hekili. 6 million out of more than 100 million total accounts which was broken during WoD more than 10 years ago. Ie. less than 6%.
Or here’s another metric. Curseforge has DBM at 552 million downloads, almost 10x than Hekili. So 10x more people use DBM. Now consider how many people don’t use DBM, and then consider that just 10% of those who do use DBM also use Hekili.
I still play like that. It’s one of the reasons why I cannot progress higher than where I currently am, I am simply not fast enough to click target then press action.
This is why I want an addon that shows me in detail every single addon that the rest of my group has enabled when in my group. I seriously doubt that more than 50% of the M+ players I invite or invite me have it installed. It’s impossible for me without DBM to be the “best” at avoidable damage taken (I do have ElitismHelper installed) and also be 2nd on interrupts after the tank.
And if the low M+ crowd is that “bad” with DBM installed, imagine how “bad” they would be without it. And that’s why the game needs to be made less punishing.
If you NEED an addon then haven’t you just proved Blizzard’s point.
I’m reading this thread and people say they need these addons to raid but the default UI has had some of this functionality for quite a while.
The big issue Blizzard might face is people using game mods for things like parsers. FF14 has no add-ons and people use mods. They had a dont ask, dont tell policy but are now cracking down on it… when they can.
Healing is the art of saving stupid. There’s lot’s of stupid out there.
Some specs are impossibly difficult to get into. I remember the first few days playing arcane mage until I understood the spec.
It was the worst time I’ve ever had learning a spec.
While I’m not a fan of addons like Hekili, they are definitely needed for some specs, especially for specs that have a tight and „set in stone“ burst window.
are you on of those that has it blaring every key? I black list every player that does this. Just filling the chat with useless garbage. It isn’t helping them to dodge anything. I have my chat set up so i can actually see it in combat and it just draws my attention constantly. Hilariously it’s usually the elitism helper guy that takes all the avoidable damage
or…they need to get better. Should we remove Usain Bolts legs because normal people can’t keep up? The bad players are the problem. Although i do agree the game is a little bloated.
I both agree and disagree. If you have a busy life, you have little time to spend days learning a spec and forgetting what you learn in between life and gaming.
If you just live on this game then its easy to find the time.
Every class needs bloat removed, consolidate some spells and passives/synergies and make all classes easy to learn and hard to master. A high skill ceiling is fine imo. But don’t overwhelm new players to a spec. Or the game
Nope, personal output for me only. I have no addon that outputs anything in any chat readable by others, all outputs are personal.
I only share it on Viber with my sibling and friends with whom we queue together.
No, we just don’t limit the rewards to the small number of people who can run 100m in less than 10sec (or even 15sec). This is a video game where people are supposed to spend their time for fun and therefore should be allowed to achieve everything. So we should let those who are better earn their reward first and with less time spent, then the rest as a function of time/effort. Everything should be a participation reward. It’s a video game.
