Updating Torghast this Week

Why make it easier? This will just make it a new warfront, complete snooze fest and not interesting at all.

Nerf Kosarus the fallen thanks, he’s massively overtuned.

what a chore this just become, no challange, no fun
destroyed

Yeah sadly. Torghast got overwhelmingly positive feedback during beta by both testers and those who just watched it on streams/youtube, and then they nerfed it to this… whatever this is due to some forum whiners.

Blizzard’s biggest weakness right now is not sticking to their own vision of the game. This is always what causes issues down the line.

4 things:

  1. How about getting rid of some ridiculous “powers”, like satchels of fish/meat? This particular one is rare, but it’s there unless recently removed.
  2. Get rid of those darn stalkers! Can’t even take a bio break without coming back dead.
  3. Fix some of the powers to work as described. Ie the +100% summon health per floor: Even if I get it at 1st floor, it caps at 50k (voidwalker), and also seems to fluctuate randomly between 35k and 50k after 3 floors or so.
  4. And maybe most importantly: How about giving us warlocks an interrupt that does NOT require the dog? When soloing, we MUST use voidwalker and you know it!

All the bads on the forums QQing that it is too hard.

Been banned for trolling when I told the scrubs to get good.

Said the level 25 dude too scared to reveal his main.

At least I’m not pretending to be better than I am.

Btw, I have over 2500 points more than you.

Hey blizzard, when you made it so “For all classes, major cooldowns will now reset when you transition to a new floor.” Now when we have the anima power which calls a horseman from our deathgate, whenever we go to a new floor the horseman disappears and we’re left with a 10min cooldown on it, it’s literally useless for half the time since they are always disappearing and you can’t call a new one since well, its on a cooldown.

This is a good start.

I expected Torghast to contain more mechanics honestly. It turned out to be just a place full of mobs that bludgeon you to death with plain white damage - either melee hits or basic spellcasts. I never expected to be slammed for 40% of my max health by a simple dark bolt or whatever it is called - a spell that casts every 5-10 seconds so i can’t interrupt each cast.

Horrific Visions were mechainics heavy, the mobs did very little “white” damage that was not avoidable. Once i learned them i could complete 5 masks on each attempt, eventually completing 5 masks without using any sanity restoration orbs. Dodge obvious aoe, interrupt specific casts (eg shadow buffet that increased damage taken by 200% - this low base damage now was actually dangerous if you let it through), dodge frontal cones, avoid melee, kill adds etc. Madness stacking on high mask runs added challenge later on but this was manageable too, even before nerfs (when lead foot could slow you by up to -90%)

Torghast tho? It’s nothing like horrific visions. This week I gave up on solo attempts as I was getting shredded by plain melee damage. Want to recover health after a fight and eat? NOPE, 70k assasin spawns and kills me 5 seconds after i start eating! I mean, who approved this design?! I don’t want to play a kiting & LOS simulator for 2 hours a week. That’s really frustrating and annoying.

Then i queued with 5 people only to see mobs scaled up soooooo high. At this point plain dark bolt casts from elites could oneshot a tank from full health. Something that not even mythic raid boss can’t do. At least not with basic attack!!! Gave up too.

Eventually completed it with 2 man team - me + healer. Healer could heal through all this high damage bullcrap, i could dps them down in peace. Without this insane damage the place is actually really easy. It does not have almost any mechanics to contend with. Much less mechanics than horrific visions.

I get working on time to complete being shorter, but I think it will be unfortunate if the end result is all layers are smashable with a minimal amount of gear and effort. If it feels like there is nothing to work towards Torghast is gonna get boring real fast and that sucks because it stands out as my favorite part of the expansion. It’s real nice to have fun, varied, and challenging content to work through solo or with a couple friends. Overcoming some tough Torghast runs has been some of the most fun/rewarding content I’ve done since Cata. Here’s to hoping Blizz finds the a way to please the “80-170 soul ash is mandatory content” crowd without killing the system for everyone else.

Its only on level 8 so not that far into it .The only whine i can see is the amount of floors per layer not the current 6 we have no so people will have to plan ahead .
To get to level 8 and complete it in an avg of 200 item level you are going to need lots of hours game play . It is going to be alot of fun if done different to the normal halls .

You guys update your brains first…

People being 2 shotted by a boss or sitting there for several mins dpsing a boss because they have 500k+ HP isn’t fun or a “challenge” i know it might make you and others feel like chads to pretend you cleared it in less than 2 sec with the best anima powers, but in reality, it was unbalanced,

Also If you want the challenge, Twisting corridors is for you. The 8 layers were just a vehicle to slowly funnel us soul ash each week for legendaries, it was never meant to be how it is now in the first place

you will have twisted corridors which 0 ash to prove yourself.

while people who are not interested will just ignore them

face it - we were just unpaid beta testers for thorgast

Everyone gets that power, I think. Even I had that in week 2.

As a Resto Shaman ilvl 190ish i must say that Layer 8 was really hard. I didn’t finish it (used all my deaths by floor 5 on my first try), even tho i think i could have if i had more focus near the end , and also it would be a bit easier if i got the right powers.

I am not a great player by all means , i consider myself average skilled (on a lower spectrum of it), and i feel that Torgast should be manageable for everyone. Especially this mode that is mandatory for people who just want to craft their Legendary s. There will be endless corridors for people who want hardmode. Go nuts in there.

For me Layer 6 was a sweet spot (not hard, but also not easy) , and i am happy to hear they are making these changes.

That’s not enough, should’ve been 100%. I mean remove this disgrace already and think of some better affix. I’m not buying a Razer gamer pee bucket so I can run Thorgast at my own pace and the idea you have to find workarounds like hexing mawrats is a sign of bad design.
