Upgrading gear in pre patch content is not fun

Ive been doing the event, and it gives nothing but scraps compared to cost.

Off course I don’t need to upgrade on my main either unless I want to take the last few pieces to 522/528

A player with an item of gear showing 1/6 Upgrade is like a Bull with a red flag.

We dont have to, and the gear will be son replaced off course, but some might just to make it last as long as possible.

I mean, of course it will cost you more if you didn’t reach a higher level already with your main. That’s just how it is with the upgrading system.

Even without Flightstones in the game and just the crests to upgrade, you still would have higher costs if you don’t have one character above the levels you want to upgrade.

And it wouldn’t be any different if the pre patch gear would use its currency to upgrade. Instead of 1 upgrade costing 6k (two boss kills) it would cost you likely 12k, PER UPGRADE.

Exactly! That’s also the issue in my eyes. Hence I mocked OP with my response.

It probably isn’t worth the time and effort needed to upgrade your gear. If it’s something you really want to do then go for it but you’d need to take part in various DF content to do so.

You’re also very likely to replace the gear as soon as you start levelling through TWW.

However if you were interested, I believe the vendor gives 480 gear on the Veteran Track:-

I find if I’m running short of flightstones I tend to do the weekly quest in Valdrakken from the guy opposite the bottom of the stairs of the big tower.

Loamm weekly is a secret gem. Takes 15 minutes if you do the RUF event at x:30, and gives 300 flightstones on top of however many you earned getting the rep. even if you don´t epic chest the event you only need to do like 2 dragonraces and and maybe collect some glitter or suck up a few slimes and you´re done.

So you openly admit to trolling the OP :person_facepalming:

If you want to call “expressing ones opinion in a demeaning manor” trolling, idk what to say, honestly.

For me trolling is when trying to offend or annoy someone without saying something meaningful. Which I did.

I said OP:

  • That I dislike his attitude of Blizzard not catering to him.
  • That I disagree with his idea to delete flightstones from the game.
  • That I dislike his reluctance to adjust to gameplay systems (that are an improvement over the old system).
  • That I disagree with his tone for feedback

OP could have avoided my response if:

  • He did explain in a logical, non-emotion driven form of expression his problem.
  • Explain it in detail what is the issue. (“Delete Flightstones from the game” can mean many things or just one, depending on PoV - Hence my argument with Alaric)
  • Suggest one/several ways to solve the problem (if it is even one that requires a solution)

OP did none of those things. So I chose to respond to OP with the same tone, the same attitude and same wording as he used. I was basically just mirroring OPs behavior, which is sometimes quite normal when arguing online. If you express yourself angrily, don’t expect exclusively soft responses.

there no point upgrading gear now though ? season is long over and you will replace this gear in 5 minutes when expansion launch .

its basily catch up gear for fresh alts / chars which you havent played for months / years

Flightstones and crests or something similar will be the way upgrades work in the next expansion too, so get used to it. :smirk:

And as for DF gear, it will be useless in a couple of week. So don’t pay too much importance to it.
An they’re giving bullions for free now. It’s ‘sale’!

What makes you think you deserve upgraded that gear just by playing this faceroll event? First of all you dont need to upgrade that gear like atll. 480 is absolutly fine for anythinf you want to do till TWW. In TTW you will replace everything in matter of few minutes anyway.

They should make the gear that drop be upgraded only using only it’s currency that drops from the event.

It’s rather rushed poorly to make it upgraded using old outdated currency they should hot fix this since its only 502 ilvl not 525

Now hold up there.

In one sentence you question why people should deserve free upgrades?

And in the next one you say it doesn’t matter anyways?

So, where is the issue?

That people are forced in to old content when the meagerly upgrades pre expack launch is 502 poorly ilvl. Why should we even have to upgrade it, Using old in game currency when you want to play the pre launch event.

It should only require you to have the new currency to upgrade it.

You do realize if the pre-patch event would drop flightstones too, your problem would completely vanish and you would even be able to upgrade your existing gear too? And you wouldn’t have to play DF content at all.

You need 250 flight stones to upgrade gear some lvls the new addition doesn’t even drop that much flight stones. Pre launch events should only use ‘‘It’s currency to upgrade the gear not old outdated stuff that none wants to farm’’ always been like that think this is a bugg.

the ilvl for the gear isn’t even that good the original OP has a point.

you only get 502 gear when fully upgraded it’s not even 525 or 535 so the point is should be free to upgrade it since its pre launch and people really don’t wanna farm dungeons when they want to farm this event now.

I am unaware of currently any changes made to the pre-patch event that it would drop flightstones. We are speaking of the theoretical case that it would do.

Again, what is the harm in having it award them too? They can set custom amounts after all. Kill Arthas? Yeah, that’s 250 Flightstones right away. Do a memory? 50 right away.

You could grind for an evening and get per rotation 1000 Flightstones, if you’re lucky.

You do realize, that like every season, those that push to maximum gear get a slight headstart on gear for the next Patch/Expansion? This has always been the case. Why do you want to diminish player efforts? Because you think you deserve it?

The point is the new gear should ONLY cost it’s currency to upgrade the gear you get in the launch not old currency - since the ilvl isn’t even that great to begin with.

That said good night and sleep tight.

We will probably see a change soon anyhow since it’s an unfair system.

Yeah the ilevel is so low because it is expected of you to farm the upgrade currency. This currency is kinda like the new “loot” we chase, since gear keeps falling from the sky.

Some like the system, some don’t. I think it is unnecessarily complicated with too many currencies but I also never bother to farm it so it doesn’t affect me much. I hope delve progression won’t require raid or dungeon farm to upgrade the gear we get.

But I think they shipped it how it is probably because pre-patch often means new players and if the new or returning players were unfamiliar with the system they can get used to it in the transition period.

And then you get the exact reverse of this thread from everyone playing retail normally, “Why do i have to grind prepatch to efficiently farm flightstones.”

WHen teh dust settles, The fact of the matter remains that the gear is more than OP enough for TWW leveling, which is tuned to start at around ilvl 300 so as not to brickwall a new player leveling normally through dragonflight.

And 480 is already hilariously OP in that context.

If you want better gear, you have the option to run current content (=actually play the game)just like everybody else does. Instead of completely invalidating even the most lazy casual gamers efforts of the last 3 month by letting someone flat out OUTGEAR even the most casual of group content (LFR) by standing still in front a vendor NPC and watching teh currency come rolling in.

“Fairness” works both ways.

In 2-3 weeks we will get an upgrade currency reset anyways (since TWW will use a different currency than Flightstones afaik). So it doesn’t matter that much imo.

I agree that it´s a non issue, and nowhere near as big as people are trying to blow it up as.

But I´m also not one of the people that refuses to play any dragonflight content but wants the rewards incl raidlevel gear for afking in front of a vendor, nor am I the casual gamer that spent the last 3 months enduring the sh**show that lfr and Pug Inis are to finally get to 502, just to have all of that effort invalidated in 3 hours by some schmuck who demands better gear from a faceroll event that makes even LFR look like Anduin Mythic

I represent the other side that actually plays the game at a reasonably competent level and can only laugh at the level of entitlement and laziness going up up up and the corresponding demands for even better gear just to let it collect dust going up 2-3x faster.

SOmeone whi hit 476 on remix is IMO endlessly more entitled to having full 502 when TWW launches, because remix or not, they at least actually played the game to get the rewards… And those chars are getting the shortest end of the stick with 415 and only a few prepatch days left. But somehow nobody is complaining that they should be buffed… Nope, only people complaining that they´re not getting their bum rammed ful of gear at a fast enough rate from the event and that the game dares to force them to actually play it to get further rewards.

And in this game and others, those players won´t ever be quiet until everyone gets mailed their mythic level BiS gear for dinging 70, because then they can just buy a boost and “win” the game.
