Upsetting messup with trial chars: Can receive mail but not send!

When was this changed?? Is this really necessary? Then the receiving of mail should really be prevented, too.
I just sent 1000 gold to a trial char to buy something on the AH because the game is deceptive about learned transmog appearances (claiming it is unlearned on a non-compatibel char and then when you check on a compatible char it suddenly says you know it but from another item), and then it told me I cannot buy stuff on the AH. So I wanted to send the gold back to my bank char on the realm but the game tells me that is restricted, too! Imagine if I had sent a lot more! Now 1000 gold is stuck on that char and I probably have to open a ticket to get this resolved, just because Blizzard again didn’t think.

Never? It’s always been like that, as far as I can remember.

Blizzard had this restriction since the introduction of the Starter Edition.

Or OP, you could have read the restrictions BEFORE trying it and “cheating” to get what you want.

As with a lot of stuff in this game, look before you leap.

I mean a trial level 60 char! On a starter edition the whole mailing system is disabled, so you cannot receive anything either!

What a callout attitude for a deceptive gameplay logic! You shouldn’t be able to send anything into a dead end! Why would it even be necessary to send mail TO a trial char then? It should just be clearly disabled like with a starter edition char, at least on the receiving end. And this was changed. It used to be different.

Cannot send mail on a Class Trial either, I’m quite sure they had this since the start too to prevent farming abuse.

Actually when gametime accounts revert back to Starter Editions sometimes friends/acquaintances would like to send money and then GM assistance was asked to open up the mail for a WoW token. This is now changed so that incoming mail gold is counted towards a WoW token.

What I mean to say is, there are reasons why incoming mail is not disabled.

No, this was still possible in BfA. I mailed stuff away and bought stuff on the AH on time-limited highlevel trial chars.

This now is a serious design logic flaw.

I submitted a ticket now. A support article was shown before sending, but it only deals with stuff stuck on LOCKED trial chars, not active ones. (And in that case the angle was ‘too-bad - unlock it with money.’ - which could be filed as user error in that situation, but is still unelegant and kinda applying marketing pressure techniques.)

But I am not on a limited starter edition account! And I just recently also learned that you cannot let it revert and then use distributed gold (which is maybe what is meant) if you have a token on one of your chars.

Dunno, maybe this is a special measure in place when one is using token gametime instead of subscription. Back then I was subbed, now I am on token time. But if that is the case, I dare you to find an article buried somewhere in obscurity that mentions that. (Would still not negate the design flaw.)

Gear, mats and the suchlike.

Maybe you should look before doing something, I thought the time being restricted would point to other restrictions too.

The change has been made because of boosting because people were just making million characters to advertise and accept gold which is understandable that they made this change

Stop the fanboyish trolling. There is nothing to “look” except that I looked and saw that mailing was possible, that the mailing system was open like on any regular char, until the problem was at hand. The AH is open, too, unlike on properly restricted char, and only once you attempt to buy something do you get a message, which is an unnecessary logic at least on chars created on already active accounts where you don’t need to show the AH contents for ‘demo purposes’ to new players.

So how has that been foiled now? If they received a ton of gold, they’d probably eventually unlock the char, no? Or not lucrative enough?
In any case, another not throught-through measure.

It’s MY opinion not someone else’s.

Obviously you didn’t as the link above tells you what you need to know.

It appears the post boils down to that you have feedback about the Class Trial system, which you can submit through the ingame suggestion box as CS doesn’t monitor feedback here.

Magical Suggestion Box

You can await a response on the GM ticket to see if they can help with returning the mail in the meantime.

Prolly to stop u opening the box and sending urself 500g per trial char…

Or bots using the trial chars to mass farm faster?

I think blizzard defintly did think, the flaw was the fsct they let u send gold to a trial char :joy:

One of the containers merely contains worthless alt spec gear, the other has always been prohibited from opening unless you enable the char fully.
There surely is some anti-exploit measure as basis for it. But if WoW design wasn’t so much improvisation-style, then you would get a warning message when trying to send stuff to your trial char. Same for expired auctions and locked chars. The game would inform, isntead of the user having to actively hunt for some support articles. I mean, does the game even tell you how long the trial phase is? (IIRC it used to be two hours, now it seems to be three.)

even if its only 50g a time, its still a limtless, macroable character spam for free gold.

yeah, but how many times have they had to ban wave players for doing it?.

ALOT.

WoD levelling.
valkdrakken reputation
DF Alchemy.
vendor buying and selling

off the top of my head, been loads of them however.

Blizzards Job, is to ensure products arent abusable, as tempting players into bannable activities, is basically losing profit for them, so they simply will dodge it.

Not really, because it has always had a limitation of how many trial characters you can create. IIRC the limit is weekly.
The total value of such a char is also so low that in the time it takes to create one and send the gold value away, you could have made multiples with other game activities.
But one thing I imagine this was useful for is when you start a char on a new realm, completely broke, and need at least a humble amount of gold to get started, without having to beg. (Although I assume begging for 100-500G is laughed at and done without worry of it being inauthentic. It might be a bigger hassle to find someone from your own realm among the many cross-realmed players.)

its still free gold, that shouldnt happen. lol, the economy is Ruined enough, without some 40 Account Multi botter passively gaining gold Lmfao.

8 per week. 500g a gp thats 4500 a Account.

if someone makes 10 accoutns, 45k Gold a Week, for logging on.

Surely if someone is running such an elaborate/extreme scheme, there are better ways to foil that than at the ‘bottom end’ of the game logic. (Yeah, I know this is unlikely here, haha.)

Well as i said the game shouldnt of let you send gold to a trial account knowing it csnt be sent off the trial account.

But i dont think its outrageous a trial account csnt send gold/mail. It is abusable as hell realistically.

I agree that this is a relatively new change, though seems to have been there since around the end of 2021 according to the wayback machine.

Anyway you can’t deny that people have been using that feature for unintended purposes and Blizzard probably decided that enough is enough.

I don’t believe there’s a system that prevents you from sending mail ingame, just from opening it on accounts with no game time. And with how mail currently works even if you waited for it to expire it would be deleted and not sent back. And the mail recovery service is taken down right now (either for good or waiting a rehaul, that I don’t know).

You can send a suggestion as Saneko recommended but since it’s not a feature that currently exists in and something that’s not high priority I won’t expect it to be implemented any time soon.
