Usefulness of Black Qiraji Crystal from a speedrunning perspective?

Hello,
I’m in a speedrunning guild and we’re discussing the usefulness of having one or more Black Qiraji Resonating Crystals for the upcoming AQ40 speedruns.
On the other Qiraji Resonating Crystals, it is stated that “Any hostile action towards the rider forces the tank underground”, but there no such indication on the black one.

I found some informations from players on the Internet, but nothing official as to whether the legendary mount is subject to the same limitations as the rare ones inside Ahn’Qiraj.

So I’d like to know, what’s the reality of this? Is there any advantage to having the black crystal over the regular ones (besides the fact that it is usable outside of AQ)?

Thanks Blizzard :grinning:

IIRC even the “legendary” version does the same thing.

If you want to know for sure ask a retail scarab lord. The AQ40 mounts still have the dismount mechanic so if black one would had it should still be in game. Other mounts used in retail AQ are fine.

You can still be dazed/dismounted the usual way (depending on who uses it and how). Magic damage absorb shields should also prevent dismount from the normal ones if all damage would be absorbed.

Aside of that it’s hard to tell. The channel full of respawning mobs so if Scarab Lord aggroes all in front and everyone just after him will have a damage free experience then it could help speed run it. Mobs after say twin emp - with good path and timing you can avoid a lot and there you don’t want combat… and you can’t pull as mobs are quite strong/annoying.

And trash tuning is a factor as well. AQ20 on PTR was somewhat easier than what I saw on pserver. Plus the corridors aren’t that long so those mounts may not be that important. You move to half, 2/3 of the corridor dragging one pack and pulling the forward one.

if ur actualy asking these questions, you aren’t in a speedrunning guild.

your point is that speedrun guilds know how it worked from 2006 videos or first hand experience or that they should assume mangos/private servers were right possibly based on their tooltip difference interpretation?

according to wcl, his “speedrun guild” has a 24min37 sec bwl clear time. To answer your question, realisticly even if the mount functioned differently, the difference would be miniscul unless a significant amount of players in the raid actualy had it.

It’s not for the general raid to have. It’s for the maintank or at least a tanky warrior, mostly for the tunnel up to Fankriss. Being able to mount pull the entire thing in one go is pretty nice. On pservers it did indeed not dismount you. No clue about retail vanilla/classic.

rocket boots

they were used in aq40 speed runs on private servers. pretty sure vanguard used them with petrification and yea i guess u need sub 20 min to be a speedrun guild nowadays

rank 93 is not nearly good enough to qualify as a speedrunning guild. IF the mount worked the same as pservers, using it on pre fankriss trash would at most save you 2 seconds as oposed to using boots.

they are #1 on their (dead?) server, and the speedrun label has no requirements of success, just an implicaiton of goals.

you use it to skip all trash between skeram and sartura. u can probably do the same throughout the instance. fankriss->huhuran. twins->ouro/cthun

dead servers are irrelevent. if they were actualy serious about their goals, they would set their priorities, and stop thinking about 2 second time saves, and ch ange their raid setup and get better players. regardibng trash skips, the only relevent runs are those that don’t skip trash. the trash skip between skeram and satura can be done with a regular qiraji mount so i don’t rly know what you are on with that one.

yea based on what wclogs deems to be sufficient trash, if u limit urself to that rather than just any% with all “mandatory” bosses, which i guess would make u more proper speedrun guild as u actually do things significantly faster

yeah thats why all the good guilds do the no trash skip category XD

yea the two good guilds progress and onslaught dont do that

yeah they do sry tired getting late.

dont as in agreeing with ur sarcasm that trash skip is a irrrelevant scene. anyway it just seems petty of u to this speedrun label elitism. even in these top guilds there are a lot of players that arent good, but they have really good guild structure and leadership along with just dedication, which is sometimes more important than individual skill.

relative to the players they have to work with on their lower pop server they are doing great. sure 93 is not good compared to the top 10 guilds, but that doesn’t mean they are not speedrunning
