Using penalties from modern wow in classic

In modern wow “removing your chat privileges” doesn’t really stop you from playing the game cause you can find a dung or raid or any activity with a click of a button.
In classic however… this penalty makes you as good as banned almost

Then don’t abuse your chat privileges or say nasty things, and if you are wrongly accused, appeal it.

You don’t have to say any particularly nasty things to get muted.
And you missed my point.
My point was that you can’t just auto-pilot trough the game in classic like you can in modern wow. You simply HAVE TO communicate. It is essential to the game.
This penalty was designed for modern wow where it is not essential to the game.

As always dottie you were annoying and useless. You never offer any compelling argument or insight into any topic on this forum. Ever.

You get Muted for simply LFG TaNK. because the system is BS. Yes you can appeal to a GM if if if you get lucky. Lucky like getting HoJ in your 1 BRD run.

Yeah, it’s often abused as well, but even if it wasn’t abused even if you really were being impolite to people, muting people is simply not acceptable in classic cause it doesn’t just stop you from being rude it stops you from finding a dung group, starting your own group, selling your stuff or contacting a seller who’s advertising his stuff, finding people to do elite quests with etc etc

Saying anything bad can get you a ban so don’t say it. How simple is that?

I didn’t miss your point at all, you want to get away with insulting people with no consequences.

Then don’t do anything that will get you a chat ban. It’s not rocket science.

If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime. I have never been chat banned, you know why? I don’t insult people or call them names, in other words, I follow the chat rules. And in case you bring it up, there is zero validation for saying it’s against freedom of speech laws.

I wouldn’t trust a bald man anyways

Night elves are hiding their forest weed, so I don’t think they are the most credible people either.

At least now I know why you got a chat ban, if you talk to others the way you have to me.

Chat bans are easy to get.
It’s all automated.
So you can get your guild just to report somebody and they’d end up getting banned for it :man_shrugging:
There’s zero humans behind the bans 99.99% of the time.

Example:
Guildy selling X item.
Non guildy selling for cheaper(competition)
Guild reports non guildy.
Non guildy gets muted due to automated ban system.
Guildy gets no competition now.

You missed:

Guildmates get a warning for false reporting.

Guildy gets a ban for harassment.

In what universe do you live in?
My god… you actually think blizzard has human employees who investigate these reports, discover them to be false and then hand out warnings and bans to people who abuse the report system?
I don’t even know what to say to you anymore… You’re something else man

If people appeal them then yes, they are investigated and I have seen Blizzard say they are clamping down on false reports.

Even if they get “banned” for harassment.
That person still gets muted/banned for several days at least.
Usually by the time you get a response by a GM, the mute is over.

I wish. I appealed my 7 day mute, 1 day later I got what I suspect to be an automated response to all silence appeals and it looked something like this:
“Blablablablabla legal sounding crap blablabla this action was taken in accordance with our terms of service which every player agrees to prior to playing” And then something about the game being a “fun and safe” place for everyone.
I re-opened the ticket and asked them to point me to the message that I wrote that is so vile that it stopped wow from being a fun and safe place for people.
I am still waiting for a response.
Also I’d like to note that while I have gotten very angry at people and flamed them in the past, nothing like that happened in this re-launch of the re-launch of vanilla that I’ve been playing for the past 3 weeks. Nothing but usual bants really.

To some it’s banter, to others it may be insults, especially taken out of context.

Usually the way.
It’s automated the vast majority of the time.

I’ll be curious what this message is as well

It‘s weird that this unfair and unmoderated report system seems to target and ban the same people over and over while everyone else never gets banned in their life. I wonder why that is…

It’s simple. 99% of the time when people flame somebody or write an “offensive” joke nobody cares or just uses the ignore list. That’s why most people don’t get silenced. But just a handful of sorry wretches are enough to get you silenced if they right click report your message. So it boils down to luck. You’re gambling with every message.

sidenote: I kid you not Dottie actually had a post removed from this very thread and my forum account disabled for 24 hours cause I called him insufferably stupid.
You might notice he’s quoting a post that no longer exists in one of his replies.
So yeah, even calling someone stupid can result in a penalty. Welcome to the age of soyboys.

i got reported ingame for saying naga please. (the person that reported me had a grudge)
point being, the system is really really bad and having to appeal to a gm is not great
