Valor is capped?

So, the much awaited 9.0.5 hits, we get the valor system, and the usual blizz you could’ve done much more with this thoughts.

However, this time the system was actually cool, at the back of my head I felt it was too good to be true.

Still, I was having tons of fun gearing my warrior which was my kinda my unofficial main for two expansions now until SL hit and I went back to rogue.

Prot buffs being nice, necrolord banner memes and fleshcraft making me tanky as hell, steadily progressing like a normal RPG game would let me.

I started to be able to tank +14s, slowly geared up till 209 and then after farming 5215 valor, it hit me.

Today I realized, that valor is capped at 750 a week? once you reach the base cap.

As in, the cap starts at 5k, then increases by 750 every week and does not refresh on weekly resets.

So week 1 = 5000, week 2 = 5750, week 3 = 6500… etc.

Does blizzard realize, that’s not enough to upgrade a weapon.

And is 1 upgrade and a half for a regular item piece?

Way to go killing fun, I’ve been spamming M+ since 9.0.5 released, and I managed to get my war to a whooping 209 ilvl.

Now I’m stuck depending on the RNG lords to drop my item, hint I’ve done over 10 necrotic wakes with occasional plate stacking with a friend, and the shield is still no where to be seen, and I haven’t got an above 200 ilvl version of the helmet.

These dumb time gates really need to be removed, let players actually play the game the way they like to.

Eh… I’m sure some players would go nuts and burn themselves out on valor if it wasn’t capped.

But I’m not sure the community on the whole would suffer for their exit, so yeah, I don’t see a point in capping it.

Not that I’ll be likely to cap it often anyway. Hard work finding that kind of time.

Let them.

Let. People. Play. How. They. Want.

Then they will keep playing.

They cant let you… they will feel to far behind…
So you cant play cause their feelings are more important.

Your evil capt obvious.

If Blizzard did that people would devour all the content on the first month then unsubbing cause there was nothing to do. What makes a lot of people stay on wow is the feel of progression, most players would just reach the max gear and drop wow.

About the valor cap, the valor System is suppose to help you upgrade 1 or 2 items than you miss not all of your items

Don’t expect positive voice out of the forums of elitists xD Even if you say them hey honor is uncapped they still won’t support you. Ofc it is a stupid system and did nothing good for twink. Shadowlands is not fixed yet and is still in the contest of the worst expac ever… Let’s see what 9.1 changes about that

No, they’ll burn out and complain they’re forced to grind Valor otherwise they can’t gear.

Can’t win either way.

I do get that PoV, but there’s some problems with it.

  1. Valor isn’t an infinite grind, you’ll reach a point where you are fully geared and don’t need anymore valor.
  2. Blizzard shouldn’t limit fun because someone is going to blast all content as fast as they could and then just afk.
  3. Content shouldn’t be made for the sake of the idea that there is content to do, it should be made for the sake of look, there’s cool content for players to do.
  4. Some content is devalued when placed in time gates, one good example of this is the maw, instead of players being like oh I survived the maw, it was one brutal but hell of an experience, its devalued by players having to constantly go back in there.

…on every single alt, because they can. Yup. That’s going to be juuuust fine.

See threads about how awful the anima grind is, even though it doesn’t even translate to power.

If they don’t, people complain about mandatory grinds (even when it isn’t).

Like I said, can’t win either way.

Well yeah . If they let you spam m+ for 220 rewards they’d make raiding worthless. Nothing to do with timegates lol. The concept is to find a compromise between the 2 not just wreck one.

Me after upgrading 2 pieces of 210 amour and one ring 210 to 220, i am literary out of valor so fun i guess.

I just now found out the hard way that there is a 750 valor a week cap as of this reset…

Last reset I spammed about 20-25 m+s, of which about 5 were purely for the valor (m+2-3) and all the rest were fun m+13-15s. It felt soooo good to finally have a currency you could actively use to strive towards better gear, aside from the glorified BFA-weekly chest that the Great Vault is.

This reset I wanted to continue playing with friends and just getting Valor while we’re at it, but apparently, that’s just TOO much for for Blizzard’s taste…

Now we’re two days into this reset and now that I’m capped, already we’re back at a pre-9.0.5 situation where we’re doing m+s with absolutely nothing to look forward to except the weekly box of dissapointment called the Great Vault.

Blizzard, remove the cap on Valor.
If people want to burn themselves out, let them.
If people want to upgrade their gear with valor quickly and you’re fearing that after that, they’ll stop playing, don’t be afraid of that because they’ll do that anyway, there isn’t enough content to keep playing.

Just let us have fun.

A valor system with M+ is weird. Basically, you’d want gear to be earned. Meaning that high gear means the player faced some challenge and played high tier content - maybe they got boosted but even with how prevalent boosting is, it’s still the minority of the population that partakes in it.

With an uncapped valor system, players can get top gear by farming +2s. The problem is that M+ exists and is unlimited. An uncapped valor system can exist in gearing systems where the content is limited. We can have infinitely better gearing system as soon as M+ is deleted, or it receives a weekly loot cap, after which you can only farm it to push keys and nothing else.

The cap had to exist, mate. Currently, valor points are a supplement to gearing, not a viable way of doing it. A lot of the gearing problems in WoW are due to M+ being spammable and having infinite loot.

That’s only for this patch. When 9.1 hits the first weeks cap will be 750 and go up from there every week.

Literally this.

Blizzard needs to stop babying players.

If I want to burn my brain off farming valor, I want to be able to do it.

If I want to farm 50k Soul Ash I want to be able to do it.

etc etc.

I DON’T CARE about player metrics and engagement metrics.

I want to play what I want when I want, not when BLIZZARD DECIDES I SHOULD.

If something will make me quit this game, that is the artificial gating of stuff left and right.

Funnily enough, I am not at all surprised people thought it worked this way but if anyone had done PvP they’d have known it didn’t, which may have been an assumption on the people who wrote how it would work.

its nothing to do with burnout.

its about the fact thatt unlimited valor will remove the Point of raiding entirely. u cant nullify the point of all raiding beneath Mythic difficulty for the sake of having “everlasting progression”.

Basically like it is now and have been for a time. You raid for trinket or because you like raiding and a few bis stats pieces in raid.
Of course this would happen when they dont have sets from raids.

Anyway already capped at 5750 valor (dumb enough to use points on lower ilvl pieces). My ilvl is 216, but Rio score is 900ish which makes it extermly hard to progress and get 15 clears in time, getting into group for 14-15 it basically impossible so I got nothing else to do for the rest of the week.

And frankly if anyone wanna be crazy enough to lvl up low ilvl pieces with valor they should be allowed to do it. Just cheer amount of m+ they need to do for that just madness for most players.

Last week there way insane amount of m+ groups forming. You can allready see that it much much less this week after most figured out that its capped and pretty dumb to waste valor on low ilvl pieces. BACK TO 1 M+ A WEEK! GJ as normal from Blizzard.

Funny enough Ive done lots of pvp!
Conquest points is CURRENCY to buy the gear like we have to farm farming m+ to get damn gear. Honor and valor is currency to upgrade gear (well you can buy some gear with honor too).

The reason is very simple;

  • PvP = PvE gear and visa versa
  • Raids don’t have tier sets

Thus they have to make every content equally viable and fast (or slow). The only reason the Valor cap is nonsense is the current state of the season, halfway in. Since M+ is spammable, a cap was to be expected. And well, it was in the patch notes so why are players surprised?
