I(t’s huge, especially when working in large corporations, and yes, employees’ social media is checked often, especially as it has grown in importance. It’s straightforward to check, too, as HR usually follows your account and can see what you write; it happens on Linkedin, Facebook, et al., and if they don’t see it, usually another staff member or the customer will tell them or your VP. It’s a glassdoor culture these days. Everything is seen and scrutinised, and rightfully so.
Nothing special.
Blizzard bans people for a week for jokes about their design and at the same time, they happily cultivate attention hogging toxic narcissists with borderline sociopathic tendencies because they make spammy threads on the forum which are vell received by the rest of the toxic people. It’s like a never-ending circle of self-adoration of toxic people.
You can just turn around and use your friends to falsely mass report someone for CoC violation and they will get banned in under 24h and there is no one even checking the validity of those reports.
… and then people wonder why WoW community/forum is perceived as the most toxic hell hole on the planet. Ofc. it is if people who “lead” the community are some of the worst people in human society
Oh ok I’ve never experienced to be forced to have an social media account in a company I always declined when they offered me that.
It’s a glass door culture now. To be more ethical most companies will put you through a week’s worth of training minimum, especially when dealing with clients who follow you. Yes, you can turn it down, but as social media becomes more prominent, it becomes expected of you to do so. Social media campaigns are now massive. I got one customer complaint on Twitter. It got sent right down the line to my manager by HR, and I had to write an apology and get in touch with them to apologise with what was them misunderstanding a quote. I have seen employees bash people, and it usually ends with them leaving the next day or two months down the line as they realise they aren’t getting a promotion and their reputation in the sector is destroyed since everyone knows each other. So they’re not getting hired either. Everyone is a public figure these days and you cannot afford the PR risk to the business and your reputation.
Well it’s kinda fitting that a toxic and immature basement dweller end up being a popular figure among WoW’s community. He is relatable to his followers after all.
You can say whatever your employer allows you to say. Cope
FFIV = Catgirls… 'nuff said.
I think people are reading too much into it. Someone remarked on what they thought of someone else.
I doubt they are the only person who has that opinion of Asmongold. These forums alone are evidence of that.
You can keep your opinion for yourself instead of publishing it on twatter
I don’t think Twitter would survive very long as a platform if people weren’t permitted to express opinions. Asmon included.
I’m not defending the tweet either.
Just remove social media permanently.
EZ Fix.
Lets go Blizzard way. You have to write two positive tweets a week for three months before you can write your opinion. Every 7 months all the tweets are deleted and we start again.
No big deal?
Asmongold has just provided WoW some feel promotion for years.
Asmongold is a player. He’s no better or worse than most of us.
The dev represents the company. He’s one of the faces of blizzard. If it’s okay for him to treat a customer like that, then yeah, it speaks volumes about the culture at blizzard these days.
I have to ask what part of that did you not understand ? 2 wrongs do not make a right .
You are putting them on the same level, they aren’t. What the face of a company is doing is far more important what some random streamer is doing.
Personally not a fan of him, but it seems like being silent again and again doesnt help to defuse the case so i condemn this social media attack on Zack, you only dare to attack him cause he is skinny pale boy who likes female chest sliders and big blades.
Dont like his opinions about the game - dont watch him. Ez
No both of them are bad people and should not use insults at all but i do not see why one should be chastised more than the other ? but w/e not going to debate a moot point . A Dev btw hardly anyone knows and a streamer that has over 200k follower’s he is hardly a a random . Just find it strange you chastise my point for saying they are both bad when others have said them same very strange .I would say Ion is the face of the company btw not this dev .
I went to put it out there I’ve been able to verify at least 20 death threats today alone made from twitter towards this Blizz Employee and the other person. So, guess who was right? Asmon and his fans are literally the worst, and anyone that picked up the news articles to bat for Asmon are too.
Absolutely unacceptable. To be fair these mental people who posted death treats are doing it on their own accord as gruppies do for the rockstar.
Zack did ask his viewers to not disturb the dev from what i have seen.
Not really. He said he didn’t care about it, and to ‘not defend him’ didn’t say anything about not harassing these people. He didn’t condemn it, and of course when you’re someone that tells your views to /spit on people and harass them normally even mentioning someone you know your fans are going to keep attacking them
But hey! His work won’t do anything about his and his communities behavior anyways.
