or rather stay as a pure PvP stat like resilience was before. I think especially for PvE its the most boring and unfun stat that does nothing except being a stat stick. What stats do we have?
- Crit: Fun stat. More often you see big numbers on screen. Approved.
- Haste: Fun stat. You can mash your buttons faster, during cooldowns you can get to press more buttons before they run out. Approved.
- Mastery: In most of the cases just blatantly adds damage, sometimes relies on some ability. Meh, but okay, I’ll take it. I remember when it was introduced first back in cata it had some interactions but now its mostly a statstick.
- Versatility: Pure % increase to damage/healing/reduction. Bad.
Is this truly fun within versa? Is there a reason for this stat to exist? Does it do anything other than being a statstick that you put in some simcraft tool to optimize your stats? I doubt it.
Which is why I suggest a solution: Keep versatility but only on PvP gear and make it work only in PvP. It will be a pure PvP stat that only pvp items would have and we will solve the problem with PvE items being too strong in PvP and vice versa.
What what to fill the gap with versa?
Here is my suggestion: Add a stat that will increase your critical damage/healing. Call it Penetration or something. This way you will get a stat that will be fun to mix with crit and make some big crit builds work. This stat will replace all curent PvE items with versa on it, and PvP set will have none of it, so it will stay only for PvE.
Here I solved a problem that blizzard is struggling with since release of Shadowlands.

Thematically that stat would fit in pvp more.
And the two pvp trinket bonus to vers, which is damage(and healing) only is pretty much that.
This bonus almost negates your opponent’s defensive component of base versatility.
So it will be a dead stat for low crit specs?
Versatility isnt that sensitive to your other stats, so its better.
Let me think for a moment … hmmm ,how about NO !
If you remove versa, you need to invent tanking stat ,that’s the thing.

Can’t with and without it
Versa is the new PVP resil… it should only be on PVP gear.
Tanks should be balanced around not having it.
What PVE stat to replace it with?
A FUN one… like Celerity: Causes all your cooldowns to recover faster.
Basically Ineffable Truth/Blessing of Autumn, but also reduces your trinket and items cooldowns.
Because if you have a 2 min cd trinket which you sync with your 2 min cd’s, it would desync them if the stat wouldn’t affect trinkets as well.
Having wings more often is FUN, having buttons to push more, your small/med cd’s as well, makes the game more engaging.

I feel like this thread keep popping up
Does people seriously don’t know that versatillity is main tank stat? Dps isn’t the only role bros
oH , Come you are soo smart so they have to put new stat just cause versa should be pvp One why just not bring back resi and put Versa on PVE content Imo
Versa is boring for PVE, it doesn’t do anything visibly…
A cooldown reduction stat would have noticeable gameplay impact.
You can have versa in pvp or resil… i’d be fine with either.

- and Mastery should be, too.
Those two stats didn’t even exist before Cataclysm and I can’t remember anyone having asked for them to be inserted. I don’t get why they feel the urge to occassionally made those two stats a thing every now and then in later expansions. Gameplay worked fine before them and will do so after removing them.
You had defense rating who was some sort of vers for tanks.
They changed it for gear of work on every spec.
Since now the same piece of gear have agility and Intellect the secondary stats need work on all.
On old times you had specific set to each spec. But the “cry” cause you needed to farm multiple sets was intense.
Right now some people cry to farm a PvP and PvE itens imagine when you was a druid on WOTLK and needed to farm 6 sets. (Guardian and Feral had same set on wotlk)
I agree. And Mastery is no better.
At least Crit and Haste have an impact on your play. I can see more Lava Surges from Crit and I can see my Lightning Bolts cast slightly quicker with Haste.
It’s a pity that we don’t have more gearing / speccing options to choose play styles that would work with the different stats. For instance a DK going with a slow 2h weapon would prefer Crit but a dual weilder with two faster hand axes would prefer Haste. We no longer have many different options with how we play our characers.

Versa is just a bad stat. On most dps and healers it’s too weak and uninteresting compared to other stats and on 5/6 tanks it’s too strong that’s it’s often by far the best one.
I would prefer it if either versa would become 1 of 3 stats depending on your spec just like primary stats work (for example versa changes into mana reg as healer and multistrike as dps), or if versa gets removed, mastery turned into a passive talent and they bring back older stats.

i stack vers in pvp and pve. i think the game would be better off without it. i think the comparison to resilience isn’t even fair because resilience was on top of other stats, versatility is instead of it. i want to stack stats that noticeably change what my character is doing.

Of all the problems the game currently has I don’t think the current stat setup is one of them. Versatility maybe boring, but it’s also fine, it does it’s job and is a viable stat.
Crit, Haste, Mastery, Versatility. Four secondary stats, each of which meaningfully improves our characters in different ways and in different ways for our characters.
Remember, one of Blizzard’s major problems is that when they solved an issue in the past they just kept on iterating it, almost for the sake of fearing we would grow bored with their solutions and so new solutions were needed to create the illusion of progress (the removal of the badge system being the cardinal example of this). This is a habit they need to break, badly. The current set up works. Let’s not tinker with it because we dream of something better, when the truth is we will likely end up with something worse.
I wonder what all the classes that scale only with versa have to say about it, especially since most of them are already meh.
I was and didn’t have any issues with that. Most people don’t play all three specs anyways and farming different set gear in many cases is way more fun than farming specific items for stat improvement, so still. I find it an unnecessary complication.
