Vindication, does it work?

There have been reports of Vindication (talent in the retribution tree) being applied on bosses but I couldn’t find solid e idem ed of it either working or not.

Has any1 noticed/tested if it does anything?

Don’t quote me on that, but I think mobs don’t have str/agi, only AP.

Indeed I looked around and apparently Vindication applies only in Vael and Nefarian.

As far as I know, Vindication “applies” to everything – meaning, the debuff itself.

However, the vast majority of PvE targets do not have STR and AGI statistics. Therefore, Vindication is not only almost useless in PvE, but actually harmful because it uses a debuff slot.

The problem is that vindication is useful only in pvp (

vindication is a complete no go for PvE anyway even IF it would work properly.
For PvP yeah somewhat usefull, but I personally wouldn’t PvP as a deep ret anyway but do a 0/25/26 reckoning build, and with only 26 points in the ret tree there is more usefull stuff to pick.

Yeah after some more digging I saw that it’s completely useless. Too bad, it would have been a nice trick for Rets.

Looks like Classic is trying to cut our legs even harder than Vanilla.

dunno. I don’t really feel powerless atleast in PvP. While yeah PvE if you’re after trying to compete ur high DPS sports it’s a lost cause. But that wont change much in TBC either.
Ret in TBC PvE will still be one of the worst DPS speccs (yes even with seal of blood), you just offer more support functions in TBC.

I mean that Classic doesn’t have a lot of Vanilla like mechanics (such as on-hit internal CDs) that we coul “exploit”. Not the case with Vindication though since it didn’t work back then either.

well yeah. But it still wouldn’t change ur overall role in the game. I mean at best it would be maybe a ~50 DPS increase.
Don’t get me wrong that would be nice but still it wouldn’t help the overall situation of rets at all in PvE.

it’s a bit like the seal of blood discussion for TBC:
like will seal of blood make ur parses slightly higher? absolutely
will seal of blood change ur overall ability to find group or raids? no not at all.

My intention never was to top the charts nor even being comparable to rogues and warriors, I’m very well aware of our supportive role and that’s the reason I rolled a Paladin to begin with.

It would have been nice though to have some more numbers since we should have had those.

Vindication gets a buff in TBC, it will reduce all attributes by 15%.
15% less stamina means a lot of less max HP for enemy players, making them more vulnerable to burst dmg.

Paladins are already strong vs hunter/rogues/warriors in classic so vindication isn’t really needed most of the time. The only thing it provides in classic is peel --> If your friends get attacked by warrior/rogue then at least you reduce the dmg of those bad bois a little bit while autoattacking them. Having an additional debuff is also good in pvp it might protect a more powerful debuff form getting cleansed?
