Voice lined quest is it time?

It is optional; you play your way. But I do think there is a lot of interesting lore and stories told in the game that you lose out on. I have lost out on that because of just auto-accepting the quests mindlessly. The Voiceover addon changes everything for me.

Depends how you play the game.

For me it would slow it down too much and completely kill the immersion.

When I pick up a quest all I need to know is 1) How many boars I need to kill and 2) what direction do I need to head in.

Having a voice over would just be annoying outside of any core story quest line.

The other question is whether the game should have fewer, but more complex quests with variety rather than clicking 10 items or killing 10 boars?

I admit I don’t play many RPGs but the few I do don’t feel like a grind.

That would depend on how XP is balanced.

Complete 1 complex quest and complete a level, sounds good.

But complete 1 complex quest and get the same killing 10 boars… very bad.
