Void elves aren’t void beings. Alleria’s story shows you quite pointedly she and the Ethereal still have access to the light despite their deep void entanglement.
Neither have vvoid elves surrendered to the whispers of the void, which is why they aren’t insane, nor evil, nor carrying out the will of the old gods.
As such though they do not use the light, they can still enjoy its radiance, benefit from it, so there is no reason the light infused arcane well would be severred from t hem.
Not to mention its arcane qualities which are still attractive.
Not to mention, if such was the case, the developers would have made a note of it, because that is a huge change for them.
So all of this convinces me that they srae still linked and connected tot eh SUnwell
It is important to establish that Alleria has a Dark Naaru within her compared to the normal Void Elves or even Void casters. Unless the Void Elves generally have the power for just one of them to corrupt the Sunwell then I do not see why this is an issue as it would take loads of Void Elves to corrupt the Sunwell if it was like the Legion casters.
Also I think I was somewhat wrong about the Fel part, Fel normally just creates a feedback loop rather than a explosion of sorts unless channeled by a demon. I guess it is only really Shadow which would be a massive problem if it were to encounter the Sunwell and that can always be explained that Shadow Priests are either secret or a gameplay mechanic.
Actually there is a group of Ren’Dorei in Boralus, near the Island expedition table… and they are a bit… odd, if you talk with them.
To be honest, they are a bit insane
I dont think they would be depandant to Sunwell again.
As I see it, elves being magical beings and their mental or physical conditions devolving upon lack of it, so its only natural to charge up with Sunwell. Allowing them to travel for missionary objectives - like kael’thas studying in Dalaran and high elves spanding long times in Alliance embassies or those Sin’dorei in Zandalar.
And these purple beings, being tapped into void in such advanced level, without succumbing to its madness (or haven’t yet), that they reached into another plane of existence, desnsed with magic power, thus also sating their craving for it.
Sunwell is not necessarily the only source for their “feeding” on magic. As, Quel’thalas Elves have interacted with almost all types of magic and its effects on their physical or characteristic condition (Void, Light, Arcane, Blood, Fel light and heavy versions). That explains why they have different skin tone and act very unlike to their kin in Silvermoon.
That’s what I’m thinking. Elves are magic sponges, easily soaking up ambient energies and changing from it into a new subspecies several times in history. Void elves are sufficiently physically altered to sprout tentacle hair, get echo-y voices and bleed purple which makes me think that they couldn’t possibly still be dependant on the font of energy that’s the polar opposite to what they’ve become. Alleria, who is something similar to a void elf, hurts from Holy Light because she’s so soaked in Void. A void elf constantly soaking up Light from the Well even across dimensions knows no escape nor relief, being in constant pain. It just doesn’t make sense to me. But that’s just, like, my opinion, man…
There seems to be no real answer to this, sadly and we’ll either have to bug a blizzard person on twitter for lore on the matter or wait for the relevant chronice book to entrench the facts.
Yeah, I think as long as Elves have enough potent magic power to sustain theur hunger then Sunwell is really not that important. See how San’layn or Fel epves from tbc, even DH not having a need to use Sunwell.
Imagine a void elf warlock, juggling addiction to fel energy, the sunwell which now physically hurts, and constant whispers from the dark beyond. Madder than a box of frogs, I tell ya hwhat.
