If I, a Mechagnome has to suffer “Potatoes on metal sticks” jokes, Vulpera can handle a bit of hazing too.
We may not have it as bad as the Vulpera but we’re not universally hated or at least not as vitriolic as what you experienced.
Also… Schadenfreude commands that I take pleasure in your collective pain. Vulpera hated by both Horde and Alliance and also having to suffer the furry race that is more on the cutesy side than impressive Tauren. May your pain last thousands of years.

To have a fetish or different sexual orientation (there are still countries where it is a crime to be gay for example) is still a heavy stigma and makes you an outcast even among an online community
Everyone wants to be accepted (or at least tolerated) and not to feel uncomfortable who and what is he/she (obviously no Jade Witches should be tolerated).
The world is not a forgiving, accepting place
So the wisest what a furry or any different-than-you could do is keep his head down, stay low and wait for a better future - or someone like Sir Ian McKellen come along to champion for the cause

I personally really hate anyone that makes the ‘I hate Vulpera because furries and furry culture’ argument, since it really doesn’t get much pushback because it’s still socially OK to just hate furries because ‘some of them are weird’
Stereotyping is a bad, bad thing to do in general. Stop treating everyone that plays as a certain race like crap because you had a bad interaction with someone playing that race, thanks.
