Wait, Sell or Vendor - low lvl prof mats

Hi all

When I started playing Classic, I wanted to start investing in cheap low level materials (especially for profession leveling) so that I could resell them later for more. Except for leather…

According to several suggestions the smartest thing to do with low level leather is to vendor it - that is until Thick Leather.

I have 2 characters that I play on and off - one of them is level 32 (herb/skinner) and another 27 (miner) - and all of my bags fill up pretty fast. To remedy that I have created lots of (now 7!) bank-alts whom I sent the items to, preferably in full stacks.

I use ArkInventory addon to get a proper overview of all my items using sorting methods, also giving me the ability to see, how many items I have of a particular kind in total, and on which characters.

I use VendorPrice addon to show me the vendor price of an item.

And I use Auctionator addon to show me the current auction price of an item, after the last scan.

And sometimes when the vendor price is pretty similar to the auction price, I just vendor the items. But it’s not always that easy, because you never know which item will suddenly rise in price.

This is where I could use some general advice on what to keep and what to toss.

I know it’s ridiculous to spend so much time and energy fiddling with low-level materials. Especially when you get so much gold on higher levels just by vendoring items or completing quests. But my inner neurotic tells me not to rush things and really think things through before vendoring anything.

It already took me some guts to vendor all of my: Murloc Eyes, Slimy Murloc Scales, Shiny Fishscales, Spider Ichor and Small Spider Legs, among others.

But I still have lots and lots of items that gives me the feeling of overwhelm and make me feel powerless, because I’m not sure whether those items will dramatically increase in value later on, or not.

And since a lot of things are pretty illogical in Classic (like itemization, stats, materials, drops), I was thinking if someone could please point me in the right direction and help me out to figure out which items I should let go of.

[I have tons of these]:

Chunk of Boar Meat
Copper Ore
Roughstone
Mageroyal
Peacebloom
Silverleaf
Linen Cloth
Wool Cloth
Earthroot
Bruiseweed

[I have plenty of these]:

Stringy Wolf Meat
Stringy Vulture Meat
Crawler Claw
Clam Meat
Firefin Snapper

[I have some of these]:

Malachite
Shadowgem
Tigerseye

Which items do you think will remain relatively worthless even weeks or months from now on?

I think most of the market has stabilized by now, not much more will change

You should check some online guides for professions, especially engineering, cooking, alchemy… then see what mats are used to level up those skills… i doubt many people on lvl 60 that want to level up cooling dor example will go in lvl 1-10 zones tonfarm boar meat… check all your mats with those guides, maybe you ll be smater after

If you wait a month or two for the low level markets to truly stabilize you might earn a gold or two, not really worth the hassle.

Technically, everything is worth auctioning, HOWEVER, the insane last minute bidding/price-dumping wars that can happen when TONS of materials are flooding the market can really drive down the price of even the rarest of low-level items.

Honestly, I’d rather cut my losses and vendor most stuff I’m not personally planning on using or sending to alts since cash in hand now is worth more then potential losses from Auctionhouse cuts from failed auctions.

Combined that with the fact that almost FIFTEEN years of auction savants are more or less returning to Classic wow, we can expect that they know the ins and outs better then most, and will rather go for rares later on, then commons now.

Sell now, you dont know what the future hold, you might not even continue playing classic.
