The game is much better played on the ground, also it’s great for world pvp. Since the compromise is to give us half the expansion on the ground and other half with flying it makes sense to wait until 9.2 to unlock flying, thereby giving us 2 patches on each. As soon as flying is released everyone will be in the sky again and the world will be empty with no pvp happening. So at least a year on the ground would be nice. This is the compromise that we anti-fliers agreed to, don’t release flying too soon.
Ion already said flying is coming in the first major content patch.
You can already fly using Fairie Dust from Ardenweald. Takes some effort to keep doing it tho since it’s a consumable.
When it becomes more well known I wouldn’t expected too many people on the ground all the time, especially those in WM.
Ion is known to tell the occasion fib, however.

So it’s not enough that thanks to you people we have to wait months to fly, you wanna make us wait even longer.
If you think flying is so evil then don’t use it.

Hey, it’s this thread again. I remember when this topic was discussed last year for BFA and I got singed for disliking flying mounts and trying to explain my position. Felt like my introduction to the WoW forums 
At a first glance it seems like the debate will be largely the same this time around! For nostalgia, here’s a thread from last year: Delay flying until 9.0
If people want to wPVP then they will be on the ground with it on.
Those who don’t will be flying from one WQ to another with it off.
