Hello, I have a doubt about the price of the Warden Staff.

The Warden Staff is sold for 350 - 400g in my realm.

With the release of Dire Maul there is a new tank weapon in pair with Warden Staff. Warden Staff is just +10 armor, -1 stamina and +2 defense. As a druid tank I only care about the stats.

My question is, how much worth are these stats? I think the price will go down because these stats are not worth 350 - 400g, but how much?

I wouldn’t mind paying about 50g for it, but this is a huge difference with the price at this moment and I dont know if I am mistaken.

You won’t ever buy it for 50g.

Warden staff will never be that cheap, but it will go down to like 200g most likely.

The prices dropped on my server from 350-400 to about 200-250.
I think 150 will be about the lowest you will see. It is still BiS forever and boe epics habe the rareness value as well. Sellers often overestimate the value of alot of items. I have seen it on ah for over 1k as well. I would recommend whispering the sellers with an offer when you see them not selling on the ah for a few days

200-250g is a fine price, which is what I paid for mine. 400g seems overkill. No one will ever sell it for 50g tho.

Ok, thank you all ^^, I think I will try to get the Dire Maul’s weapon xD.

Well, 50 g is a low price I know, but I am really not sure if the 36 armor in bear form and 2 defense are worth more than 100g unless you have gold to spare. Maybe 150g if you are not planning to change weapon the rest of classic xD.

Defense is really important but you can just get spme core armor kits for extra defense.

as far as I’m aware, if you’re a bear tank and you have Warden Staff, you won’t ever upgrade it until Burning Crusade. It is the best weapon in the game. So yes, it will remain valuable until the rest of time in Classic.

I have seen at least one guide that changes Warden Staff for some weapon + off hand of AQ I think.

But I am not an expert and maybe is just an option. I am not planning tanking in raids so in my case I could keep it the rest of classic xD.

Defense for druids only have 2 effects; 1) Increases the chance of attacks missing entirely (very slightly). 2) Give an insignificant increase to Dodge chance.
Just going for flat out Dodge is way better, but such weapons does not exist in classic (don’t know if it’s even on weapons in later expansions).

Defense is a Warrior/Shaman stat. It’s nice to have for druids, but it’s priority is below Armor, Stam and Agi.

Im on hydraxian waterlords, the staff goes for 1k easily. The early release of DM means you can straight up ignore it and go for unyielding maul. The main reason you want the staff is provided by the maul.

It is true that there’s no straight upgrade to it in Classic.

That being said, once you get good enough gear by the time AQ comes around, a well geared raiding bear tank - especially one that has 5/5 thick hide - may prefer using a feral AP weapon + offhand to using the Warden Staff, reasoning that buffed he’s getting pretty close to the armour cap anyhow and the extra threat as well as crit and dodge (from agility) makes up for the loss of defense and a bit of armour.

It depends on the bear’s other gear whether abandoning Warden Staff at that point makes sense.

But yeah, if one doesn’t get the DM stat stick, paying 200-250g for a Warden Staff is a cheap price to pay. It’ll stay with the bear for a very, very, long time.
