Hey gang.
I spent 6 hours on the Mage Tower today, trying all sorts to burn those bad boys down.
I gave up after getting Raest (Affliction Warlock) just below 50%. If I focused Raest and let Karam live, he and his cronies would eventually oneshot me. If I burned down Karam, Raest would ultimately blast me down with his boosted Shadowbolts. No hands blast me, no big guys spawn. The numbers just eventually crack me.
Is this overtuned or am I bad?
I know the encounter is possible to beat, but do I actually need to go farm legion gear and minmax to get it? I didn’t have any luck with the Destro fight, but I’m not a Destro king, either.
My experience as a demo was quite daunting.
First, apart from global scaling, that fight has not been adjusted for modern classes whatsoever.
Second, there is alot of bugs in demo encounter, for example Boss can spam runes 2-4 times in the row and pair them with Valkyrs and Shield mechanics of runecaster add
A content well tested blizz, this is yet again a shining example of how you treat your game and community.
I got the Rune popping in jorls left food, then he bladestorm’ed. Great job, a good run ruined by rng…
Or trying to get to a Rune but got blocked by Sigryns charge… this need to be fixed. Don’t mind the abilities coming close one after another, but not at the same time or so you can stop one but die to the other.

You can cc the axe guy btw and he stops spinning. Took me a while to realize that myself
Axe guy is the most harmless dude there, bugs and glitches are what ruins it.
What bugs?? I did like 30 or so pulls and everytime I died was because I was too slow or didn’t react to mechanics.
If you mean the end, it’s suppose to be the enrage of the fight so you got around 6mins to beat it.
No, during encounter boss spawned runes 3-4 times in the row, exactly every time when 2/3 runes was deactivated, and during that time Valkyrs and other high damage mechanics was spawned as well.
Like several times I had runes, Ancient blood and Valkyrs being activated in the matter of seconds from each other.
Yeah at like 2 mins in it always spawns multiple runes back to back. Just gotta use gateway + port and drop dpssing for a bit and run over them.
And pretty sure all abilities can overlap. It’s part of the challenge.
Two runes in the row it berable, but i had 3-4 sets of runes. Meanwhile i had to deal damage to enemies, heal demon, CC boss with ancient blood and avoid any valkyrs. That is the weird timing for the fight.
But he has a DR, right?
I don’t think those are bugs, just bad design from blizzard. Overlapping isn’t good and had nothing to do with skill. Just luck that the overlap isn’t so bad that you cannot avoid the mechanics. Like Blood of the Father cast outside the ring…

We are currently evaluating the data regarding Mage Tower success rates, and we have identified that some of the challenges for certain specializations are more difficult than intended. We will return once we have more information to provide on what changes we have planned to bring those specializations more in line with the rest.

The Destro one seems to be the only one that’s actually balanced, given how our toolkit remained the same boring tripe since Legion.
Demo is really not a mobile spec and the fight plays into that alot. Sigrynn also runs off the map to Narnia when you fear her so you can’t re-fear while doing all mechanics. I find myself running around for minutes to survive it’s really not tuned well thats for sure.
I think the first changes for the tower are coming when it is over…
Edit: of they would let us habe or covenant stuff with one legendary it would be still challenging but not like “have luck with overlapping”
I did it. It took me 10 hours but I eventually did it. Raest and Karam went down.
The end of the fight felt really cheesy, to be honest. Anyway, that was a real challenge.
Congratulations, I still think it is buggy. Everything’s I think I have a good run, they all active strong abilities at the same time.
Edit: conclusion is yesterday, I can avoid the mechanics really good, but my dps(700) is to low. I’m always losing to the enrage timer, so for me blizzard just needs to remove it.
Affliction one was quite easy I found, just a few pulls to practice the kiting again as its been a few years and it was no problem.
You literally want to just play dot and run and then malefic rapture as and when.
I’d recommend going (talents 1-2-3 wise)
2-3-3-2-2-2-3.
Focus on keeping exhaustion on Karam and going through the dots. Phase 1 when its just him, obviously dont use any cooldowns.
The pools that spawn are just from his movement, so keep him out the area. When Raest enters into phase 2, apply full dots and put a seed into him.
Now pop CDs and spam Rapture. You should be able to get Raest to 75-81% depending on procs/crits. Only drain life when you can get a full cast off.
Hands - You can kill these in one silence cycle with felhunter.
Summoning Circles - Your felhunter can soak these, felhunters damage is not needed here so keep it on passive and utilise its movement.
Last phase - So many adds spawn you can keep agony tabbing which allows you to have a large drain life with the ID talent
Keep tab targeting to apply agony to the small adds and just keep running. Don’t kill Karam until your CDs are back up. I completed it in full pvp gear with only using the Legendary Staff and Heart of Azeroth as I did not have any old gear.

Stats but not needed. Just follow the priority of Int>Mastery>Haste>crit/vers
I only have pvp gear, I also tried destruction and Affliction. But I failed, I just want the tmogg, I think it is way to hard for a timewalking Event. If they just remove the enrage timer, this would help a lot.
