Warlock vs Priest for Wotlk PvE

Hi everyone,

For Wotlk Classic, I am having a very hard time deciding between Priest and Warlock. Taking into account 3 factors -

  1. Class Scarcity
  2. Fun
  3. Most Utility
  4. Raid Spots

I want to play warlock badly but I am not sure if there will be too many warlocks towards the end of wotlk. Priest on the other hand, Disc will be a monster healer and SP will also be pretty nice but you most likely will need only 1 or 2 priest per 25 man. Therefore , I am confused which class will be more desired by everyone.

Hopefully people can give me some suggestions on which class would be a safe bet to pick .

Sorry but there are no safe bets, level one of each, you have the time.

Go for what you like best - having fun wins. Or take Dottie’s advice and level one of each.

Both Priest & Lock are fun in both PvE & PvP on Wotlk.
Both have great utility, most raids will want 2 priests and 2 to 4 locks (Maybe more? Depends on what you’re trying to achieve, as a result you cannot really predict anything. Most raids will just take whatever they can find,
There will likely be more spots for Warlocks, but will more people roll warlocks? Impossible to say - as much as people here like to think they can predict the future, they can not.

You have time, do both, or if you choose only one do Lock. If you are in a guild then you are best off asking them.

Or out of left field, level a shaman.

Warlock is the overall stronger Class in Wrath.
Affliction is a dmg beast up until TogC when Firemage starts to take over.

1 Demolock is mandatory for every 25m raid (Mostly this is an Support Spec - the DPS is fine until end of Ulduar, but you get ourslaced by most speccs/ classes.

The good thing about these 2 classes is that you can easly find a spot in a guild or a pug (gdkps aswell). IMO, since i like DPSing in pve and healing in pvp, i would go priest; if you share the same interest as me here you go. But if you are looking for gigachad 1 button rotation parser then warlock is the way and they are god like in pvp.
