I agree with most of what you’ve suggested, especially on the class tree side which is one of the biggest gripes I have with warlocks since dragonflight. I feel like the devs should embrace the idea of the tanky spellcaster a bit more and dark fantasy of the warlock.
I would add/change a few things that you’ve suggested :
-Remove Accrued vitality and Lifeblood : rarely used talents and outdated since none of the specs use drain life anymore and 4/8% leech after every healthstone use is too low to be impactful. Either buff it to something reasonable since we do have a hs every minute now or get rid of it.
-Rework Teachings of the black harvest : Apart from demo in niche situations it’s not used at all. Which is a shame with the name of talent being so cool. It could be used to summon a second pet temporarily every x seconds, give cool abilities to pets (like blood pact for imps, etc…)
-Revert soul link to higher damage reduction : At the moment soul link is like soul conduit very lackluster and not very uselful
-It was already said but I’ll repeat here as well, a way to apply aoe curses, it’s our only utility that we can’t properly use.
On a final note for the class tree, it would be cool to see some interesting nodes, because sadly even if we had acces to more talent nodes most are either boring(dmg nodes), undertuned,niche, outdated or flat out useless.
-Won’t add too much on spec since they did do a lot of good since dragonflight.
For affliction give some better talent nodes, I feel like most of them are dmg amps, like most classes have them but I feel like aff has a lot of them without changing the way it feels or plays.
Bring back Ulthalesh active would bring back some of the vibes of aff lock draining souls from it’s victims. Following that, why not add a talent that allows you to aoe Drain soul after casting sol rot, I mean it fits and could actually help with aff shard issues (shadow bolt volley for the shadow bolt lovers). And of course the every eternal grippe with vile taint, it’s just annoying to play with in it’s current form, having to reapply agonies manually and all that.
-For destro, I would love if they could bring back season 3 df tier set in some way in the talent tree because as of right now rift are not used because they are not good sadly. And bring back purple boy.
-For demo, same as destro bringing back the volley to the doomguards would be great, right now you can proc a lot of them but they only attack a single target, so they could tune and reduce proc rate like in s3 and 4 of dragonflight (you would get one very often and 2 if there was a huge pack) but honestly it felt great and looked great to see him blasting.
-My final idea of the things I would like to see would be some adjustements to the hero talents utility nodes, because for warlocks most of them are lackluster compared to other specs ,not all hero talent utility/defensive nodes are amazing either but most are fairly better than what we have. I didn’t check every single hero talent tree, mostly classes similar to us so clothy or our cousin the unholy dk which I consider the melee counterpart of warlocks in some ways. To get to the point, apart from soul harvester which does actually have some good utility/defensive nodes (bigger dark pact or big hs heal, reduced cd on fel dom or more health and mana to a cr target), the other trees are a bit of a letdown, hellcaller has the 2 in 1 curse but as we already said curses aren’t useful enough, like you’ll curse maybe a few mobs from time to time but that’s it not very usefull, however if they every buff curses (aoe application) then I think it’s decent, the choice node with it applying curses on target around when you use Unending resolve, I feel like it’s suppose to be more pvp oriented has niche uses there since you’re already cursing people there, so underwhelming. Afterwards you have a choice node with either your dark pact heals over it’s duration while active so if the shield is gone no healing, or sacrificing max health for bigger absorbs from soul leech, I like the idea very fitting but the values are a bit off 10% of your max health for 15% more shield.
And finally Diabolist has the worst in my opinion in terms of utility nodes, between demonic circle always soulburn boosted which is very niche only for certain situation and doesn’t work where it should City of Threads second bosses, or howling terror reduced cd and increased range can be more useful (mostly in pvp) but that would mean not having mortal coil which is always good compared to sometimes with howl, we also have a choice node for unending resolve which either heals you for 30% of your health after using it or gives 10% of your max health as soul leech and absorbs more, both are kinda underwhelming and if you have good healers they are useless.
So I hope they get some changes to give more utility such as more charges on our defensive cds, or more stuns, how about when we use a healthstone we heal our group or give them some sort of baby soul leech, or a very good one is everytime we kill an enemy we get cdr on our defensive cds. There are a lot of options with these nodes, especially since our class tree is so lackluster, I would like to see some changes or improvement on current designs.
