Warlord's Deathwheel

Well, yes. There are people, who need self validation trough external means. I.e. unique ppixels that set them apart. Like “I am better player than you because I have item X” or like other day I was looking in Boralus at player, who clearly was tryhard-showing off.

Sometimes the need to ‘look at me’ is so high. Type of player, who buys boosts, or is social in a progressive guild, gets into a raid or two for mount because they are friends with guild master, and then afk in Boralus like no tomorrow.

Now such people come form wide range of connections. So some do not have Guild master friends in good guilds, they use other means - store items, unique mogs, and anything else they can get hands on and they are also very vocal about needing to have ‘temporary’ items so they could keep their ‘self worth’.

However this behaviour is not just in the game. It is also in social media, in work office and anywhere around us. On old days we had name for such people “drama-queens” and “attentionwh… es” (you know what word I mean here!), now we call those people “unique snowflakes”. Part of social media also normalises this behaviour - You must have something to stand pout, to get likes. get subscriber money. People post their baby pictures and grumpy cats - so they could collect their likes.

It is not warcraft issue, its human issue in wider.

Yes I know it is a problem in our society in general, not just the game, sadly. I just think at least in a game, where things don’t actually matter that much and shouldn’t be taken that seriously, there shouldn’t be that issue. It’s just to have fun, the content should be available to all. Even stuff locked in a certain time frame, should come back later in similar conditions, could even be harder to get sure, would be fair if you had to work harder to get it if you didn’t get it the first time. LoL does that with skins for example, some old ones are not available anymore when they did things this way to be “special” but they realized that was bad policy and stopped doing that, now all skins come back later for another chance at getting them, if they are from special events and/or were temporarialy available.

So everyone who likes to collect unique things in game are “drama-queens”, “attentionwh… es” and “unique snowflakes”?

I agree on this. I am not big into unique either. I got LOT of that kind of items plainly because i have been actively playing with no breaks from 2005. I would not mind at all if all those things would be given alternatives ways to get so everyone could still get them. I was purely explaining the logic i assume is behind the decision they made with the deathwheel.

Sure, and I understand that, as I said it’s a fair argument, but has it’s own failures. Well, but it is what it is I guess.

Probably because it was a competition and the rules clearly stated that the winning bike will be handed for free for limited time - and making it available after the time period and/or for a fee would break the rules.
Alliance bike being available probably because the rules didn’t mention what to do with the other one.

Just me guessing though.

I agree and it would also have been a shame not to add the Alliance bike after the competition as they did make both of them.

It was a fun initiative, it rallied both sides, it was fun seeing the FOR THE HORDE and FOR THE ALLIANCE shouts etc. I think they captured the essence of both factions well into the bikes.

Reading skill is strong in this one.

No, the vite was pointless because only one faction will get the mount. That means people instead of between between two bikes the real choice voting for having a bike for yourselft or having a bike for the other faction. So the vote becomes wich faction has more players.

It would be a real vote if they give the winning mount to everyone who vote for that mount and maybe allow other players to buy the winning mount.

People give the vote to their faction mount not because the thought that mount was cool, they did it because there was no point in vote the other bike. There was no sincerity in those votes.

That is why back them I refused to vote, I refused to participated in such selfish voting

Its not going to come back due to legal issues that are probably too complicated to go into here without a wall of text. But knowing what I do of contractual agreement and sweepstake organization then chances are very slim.

But Blizzard made a HUGE mistake putting the Alliance version in game for sale. All that did was not so much rub salt into people who missed it faces but more tied them spread eagled to the ground and invite people to drive golf balls into their crotches. And for that reason alone I refuse to buy the alliance variant even though I can easily afford it.

Uh ? I am not sure I can agree. I mean the alliance was better looking (subjective opinion) - and all that competition was just which faction players were watching the comptition more in numbers. The show and the event itself was dreadfully boring as is the TV show it was based on. You can follow it on Discovery channels and it is kind of ‘staged’ and fake.

The whole vote thing was wrong. they should have just put both models in-game and never do the vote.

I agree the whole vote thing was just a farce and a blatant attempt to get people to watch a god awful “reality” show but to have the “losing” mount always available and the winning mount available in a time window was just very poor judgement and in essence turned the outcome on it’s head. Now anyone can get the alliance mount, but you can’t get the Horde version (imo better looking). Like I said when they announced that the Alliance variant was going to be ingame for purchase.

Looks like the Alliance won after all

I did not know that the Horde variant was no longer obtainable, and it actually would be cool to know what ‘legal’ issue there is and was. Instead of us pondering what on earth this is. I did not even know I had horde variant on my accounts. I thought that bike was random goblin one (I am clueless, ok :P) and when i looked the na,me up on OP I just realised my goblin bike jokes I have done on forums here in bee mount threads (I want them to alliance too) were actually about THIS event bike. Jokes on me, considering now appears Horde wants it too … again.

I do not think them removing Alliance bike now is useful or good move and instead they should seek ways to bring Horde variant back.

If memory serves me right once the winner (foregone conclusion really) there was a two month window where all you had to do was log in with a Horde and it appeared in the mail. Given Blizzard’s general policy of making things obtainable I can only assume there is a legally binding contract preventing them from putting the Horde variant online. A sad state of affairs for people who missed out and I do sympathize (I’m not that bad of a git despite what people may see on here) but sadly, you’re not going to see it again unless lawyers get involved.

(Edited because my typing wand broke and I have huge thumbs…)

If it requieres lawyers, which is the most likely situation, it won’t ever come back, they wouldn’t go through such a trouble just because of something that won’t give them any kind of return and/or impact the comunity in a big way. From an enterprise point of view makes no sense to do it, in those conditions, and I get that. It’s just an unfortunate situation, at least hoping they saw the mistake and don’t repeat.

The special thing about it is you can get it, there’s not really a point of the uniqueness argument is there, like what about not being able to get a mount makes it somehow better then the one you can get? there’s a lot of really bad mounts, whether it’s the model, the design or something else, that are not available anymore, that doesn’t make them suddenly good mounts

I didn’t say it makes it good mount. I hardly ever use mine. But there are people who value rareness, to have something that is not available anymore. And like i said in my other post, i am not personally against it being available again. I was just pointing out that the fact that it is not available anymore makes it more valuable than alliance version that still is.

Thanks for clearing it up for me :+1:

I am simple girl with simple demands. A good mount fits trough doorways and works both air and ground.

I’m a bit more complicated, I like to have 1 for each situation. 1 for ground, 1 to fly, another to carry people with me, etc, etc…
