Was sad, now mad

Blizz have been trolling us for ages.
The “Waist of Time” belt?
Baal the devil goat: “The Devil makes work for idle hands.”
Herding Kittens: “An idiom denoting a futile attempt to control or organize a class of entities which are inherently uncontrollable.”
The “You’ve Got to Be Kitten Me Right Meow” quest is compulsory if you want to fly in the Broken Isles. This mechanic is repeated in the " Herding Children" mini WQ found in Dazar’alor.
There are many more examples, I am sure you all know one.

I will probably buy the pig in homage to the incomparable Pink Floyd.
Getting high on the Hog!

@Tifa, True! I just think many of them complain without adding a reason. If the reason is because it’s hard to farm 360k gold, then please say so, but in my post I wanted to address something else.

@Canabal, Does an opinion have to be based on something though? I could’ve gone in-depth in describing how access to guns leads to more violence - in my opinion - but I felt it was unnecessary for the example.
Second comment I don’t quite understand, but if you’re suggesting companies like money then sure I agree. I think however, pleasing your playerbase long-term is just as important - if not more - than getting a fast and efficient sale from a mount that also causes “unhappiness” in lack of a better word.

@Nimrhys, No I don’t really want to ride around on a pig, haha! But I would’ve spoken to a hell of a lot of elders collecting their coins had it rewarded a pig, because I’m addicted to be rewarded for my actions.

@Lanie, I don’t think you added anything worth discussing with that comment, that I haven’t answered elsewhere in this thread.

There’s nothing worth discussing in the thread full stop. “I’m mad” isn’t really a conversation piece. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. If you can’t buy it, use gold. Either way, don’t open topics about subjects that are ongoing in 10 other threads.

@Lanie, I respectfully disagree, I think there’s lots to be discussed regarding putting mounts on the store.

Let’s go through your way of discussing however!
First you enter the thread, complaining that I shouldn’t cry about this topic, which I feel strongly about, and calling me “Very, very sad.”

Then you ask why I didn’t discuss this in a different topic. Fair enough, and as explained to Tifa it’s because many complain just to complain, without much substance. I wanted my post to be about adding mounts to the store instead of in-game events, to a game we pay monthly for, which is in a rough state lately.

You also bring up “You can buy the mount with in-game gold” which I explained to Bukachu that I know perfectly well, therefor disregarding this as not worth discussing any further. My complaint isn’t wether 360k gold for a mount is too much or not.

About me being poor - I can only afford this game with gold, and let’s say I have a month without much income gold-wise, I need to have some amount of extra, that is my problem, not yours! I was just describing why I was sad about the cash mounts earlier.

“It’s for the Chinese,” doesn’t mean anything to me for my post. It can be put as a Lunar Festival reward and still be meant for the Chinese no?

And yes, Blizzard is a company, I agree they should be focused on making money. But hopefully by having lots of happy customers, not because a a few thousand loyal customers buy your expansions, your mounts and pay monthly for your game. This is of course in my opinion.

lastly! “Don’t like it, don’t buy it,” is very saddening to see. I want this game to be great, and I care greatly of it’s future. I’m a believer in that we should raise our concerns in matters we care about.

Kotick’s gotta eat as well dude… so they made a cash shop mount that looks like him. It’s fitting.

Only the ones you should place value in or take seriously, yes.

Just like Access to a Flying Pig leads to more players flying in game.

I get your point.:man_shrugging:

  1. You act like getting a fast efficient sale and pleasing your playerbase are mutually exclusive.

  2. This idea that you care more than the company about making money, so much so that your idea is for them to give the mount away for free, is just…

@Canabal, Sorry for the late reply! Regarding your comment on an opinion’s value, while I agree somewhat, I think a customers opinion should always be valued.
Now, since we don’t have official numbers I’m going to use my assumption based on my friends list (People aged mostly between 20-25). In Legion there were pretty much always 10+ players active there, while right now there’s 1. Does that mean 90% of the playerbase is gone? Of course not, but it means a lot of people - in my community anyway - doesn’t find the game worth playing/paying money for. Hence my idea that pleasing your playerbase should be a higher up as a priority.

Would adding a pig to the Lunar Festival event make my friends list be active again? I highly doubt it, but I think it’s a step in the right direction.

And regards to you saying “your idea is for them to give the mount away for free, is just…”
No, just no. If you’ve read anything I’ve written in this thread you can quite clearly see how I want their events to be relevant and reward us for playing content within the game pay monthly for. NOT give away a mount for free, but to use it as an incentive to play.

I got that one too!! Most of mine were gifts to be fair and I like the shop for that.

The pig is for chinese newyear. Iirc they added the dog and goat mount for it also before

@Tifa, I understand that the pig is meant to celebrate Chinese New Year, but isn’t that what the Lunar Festival event in-game is for? Why not add it to incentify the game’s content instead, is my question.

Sorry you’re getting a lot of attitude OP. Maybe you should change your title? I don’t think you’re moaning.

I understand alllll sides of the arguement and so my opinion is a bit… moot. I agree they should update events. I also see no harm in having a shop. I also think buying the game + a sub + a shop is a little cheeky but it’s always been that way… I would prefer a buy-to-play model and bigger customisation shop. Pretty sure I spent more money on GW2 with that than a sub.

However, getting gold is a little harder this expansion! I found not scrapping and just selling the equipment (except that which will five me residuum) has given me some income. Especially since professions are meh.

I like my new Piggy  . I don’t understand the saltyness towards them, I’ve had abuse in game this morning for having it. They are purely cosmetic and pure choice. I see no problem. However I’ve been told (using not particularly nice language) that I am ruining the game etc…

@Nimrhys, Thanks for a great reply!

@Naxxos, Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that :frowning:
I don’t think anyone should get abuse for having a preferred way of obtaining mounts.

In fact, you guys are awesome discussing with, mind if we shift the topic a little, but still keep it relevant?

Would a higher focus on events help keep the playerbase happy?

Taking a look at other games I currently play, Overwatch and Pokemon Go, they are very event-based and always see a peak in activity once an event goes live. Would this be something you’d be interested in to have in wow? Being okay with some “meh” periods outside the game’s events but have fun with returning friends when an event goes live? Obviously an event would need more than a new mount each year, but I think it’s an interesting topic. And would it even work since the game isn’t free to play?

In what way would you buying a store mount would ruin the game, for anyone but the perpetually offended crowds?
Nowadays those mounts are quite literally purchaseable with gold, thanks to the WoW tokens, which makes every such “issue” into a non-issue.
Everything beyond that point is merely nitpicking or a way for somebody to be offended for something.

Apparently a certain streamer said it was bad…

Which one is it this time? Asmongold? Preach? Bellular? T&E?

It was probably Asmongold he is the popular wow streamer top dog as of late.

There’s about 300-400 mounts in game to the 20ish on the store. You’ll live.
