Is it just me or do you guys also think that the fact that we cant hold more than 1 waylaid supply in the inventory is just bad design? Devs have effectively cancelled every attempt to farm these things for rep and forcing you to take a trip back to SW no matter where you are on the map, out of fear that another one might drop while you are holding one.
I am not farming them currently but i need the rep for the rune on my current class, and as i am leveling i have already lost 500-600 rep just because i had a supply on me and i hadnt been to SW. This is just stupid imo, why impose this limitation? I get it that maybe they want to stop bots from farming or whatever, but going THAT much overkill hurts everyone. It is a meaningless waste of time to travel back and forth from SW no matter where you are, just so you can get 100 or whatever rep, and there is no methods of quicker travel too, so devs are doubling down on us needing so much time for travelling as it is. I just dont understand it.
They have made a lot of great changes to poor systems so far and I’m hoping they look at this. I’m levelling my second character now, i’m level 22 and 1500/3000 neutral.
The rewards for friendly are for level 12, i’m halfway there, at 22.
I did the absurd travelling back and forth on my druid the very first time to hype myself up for the discovery part and when i hit friendly at level 18 i felt so disappointed.
Level 12 rewards, grinded it and hit 18 before friendly.
The level 12 rewards are 4-5x silver more than AH greens.
So far on my hunter, i just play as normal and do a session and return to the city every 2 levels, meaning i delete 1-3 supplies if i’m lucky enough to find a chest with them inside. (I just looted a solid chest in ashenvale twice, no supplies, had greens worth 30s vendor).
Unique on this item is the wrong choice. It feels so bad.
I really don’t mind the unique limitation. Got the first one on my warrior at 25 cause at that point I didn’t think they’d be worth the time, then found out theres a rune to get. Didn’t really take that long, about 2 hours of farming. Did it again on my alt after the friendly nerf. Level 13 hunter at the moment, got enough supplies to get friendly already. The nerf to friendly really made this process incredibly easy, running to OG from Durotar didn’t really take a lot of time at all.
If they change it I’d say no more than unique(2), if you’re not interested in getting the reward, then thats on you.
This is classic again after all. You’re allowed to take your time and enjoy it rather than once again adapting to the retail gogogogogo mentality.
Yeah you farmed for 2 hours for a bad green item which at level 13 you can’t afford, and a rune you can’t use until level 18.
Sounds great. Good use of time.
I didn’t farm, I was questing. I have it now instead of having to do it at 18. Its an alt, I can buy/craft what I need. Its a better use of my time than crying on the forums that I can’t have all my shinies for free right away.
Well if putting in effort for something I want while having fun is farming then I guess I was farming. It sounds like you don’t really want to play this game at all… why are you here again?
So you agree that you had to put effort in to farm it, got nothing from it as the rewards are not good, and your rune is at level 18, so you spent time farming the rep instead of levelling up, if you had farmed the rep at 18, it would’ve been faster, since the amount of rep at lower levels is very small.
No need to attack my love for the game, strawman.
My point is that this reputation grind baits innocent souls like yours to grind it up and get basically nothing (instead of passively earning it and handing them in bunches after you play normally).
(or waste your time, since its faster at higher levels).
I’m happy that there is something to grind, i love grinding, but this is not a fun way to grind, it is very disappointing and feels bad.
You have to delete the rare supply drop or take a tedious trip to the city (could be 15-20min round trip).
Making the item non-unique would change nothing other than not wasting people’s time.
If it dropped from end bosses in dungeons i would understand the uniqueness, but instead you can get lucky and get 1-5 during a normal quest session, prompting you to take 1-2 hours doing a 30m quest, or just… waste all of that potential.
I mean I got a rune for it, so I don’t know what your argument here is… I got it out of the way now, I wont have to stop my dungeon runs to go turn them in.
If you get it passively then you haven’t earned it.
I don’t feel that the game I love is a waste of my time.
Petty personal insults aside, I propose a compromise. Keep it unique(maybe unique(2)), add a turn-in to every major quest hub. Whats your opinion on that? Does that still sound like an unreasonable amount of effort to put in?
well that certainly turned around from “i didn’t farm it, i got it by questing.”
sure
could’ve just gone full send and not be petty at all but its gotoffmylan, the most polite poster on the forum.
And to repeat myself because i think you didn’t see it:
Farming this rep at lower levels takes vastly more time required than to farm it at higher levels, but for some, have nothing to give at that level.
Making it a waste of time.
If it takes you 30minutes to get friendly at 25, but 2-3 hours at level 13, but the benefit is the same to both, then surely you can agree that is not good design.
It takes literally no time at all to get to friendly at max level so why gate it at all with unique drops.
Instead your average player could have a satisfying experience where they naturally gain rep via being able to loot items that drop.
(Although tbh i think 2-3 hours is generous for someone who doesn’t already have plenty of gold to fill the boxes)
Alright, I admit I don’t understand your weird version of what farming is.
I logged in to check, my /played for the level 13 hunter is 4 hours and 54 minutes. I don’t feel that running back and forth was a majority of my play time.
Then farm it at 25, its your choice.
You can level all the way to 25 and do the rep then if you don’t want to spend a few minutes running/flying to a city. But the benefit is not the same. If you do it at or before 18, the benefit is being able to use the rune before 25.
If it literally takes no time at all then its not really a problem is it?
Theres the “naturally gain rep” again… You can get those boxes and turn them in whenever you want. Be it right away or in 3 days, its up to you. Put in the effort for what you want or gain the rep naturally over time.
Finding flaws in yourself is something people develop in time, I’m sorry you haven’t figured it out yet… See that? Thats a petty remark made by me. Find yours, you’ll become a better person for it.
Here let me help you find yours:
I just killed wolf, looted a supply, ran past to do my quest, killed 10 mobs, now there is an unobtainable supply on the 10th mob. This is the third supply from a mob i’ve ever looted.
Great design, over 24 hours /played, third looted crate and i can’t even use it.
Defend it.
Should i have gone back to the city after killing a few mobs? I just flew here, it took around 5 minutes.
If it was not unique or stackable I could just carry on playing but the optimal way to deal with this item is to now run back to the flight master, take a flight, find the items on AH, turn it in, get back to my questing, its almost a 20minute detour.
Incredible luck you get on your drops. 2 supplies in 10 mobs? Finish quest and turn in your current box. Go back to questing. Get another box? finish quest, turn in box. Got loads of quests to do in one spot and don’t feel like running? Leave the boxes, up to you.
If they were not unique this is how it goes. Get 10 boxes while leveling, this will happen before level 15. Go to town and instant friendly… Where is the effort? What makes it feel like you actually did something to get it? Doesn’t exist. Specially now that its only Firendly you need. You might as well just get rid of the boxes and make it a major city rep reward. You get rep for those as you do quests, you’d put in the same amount of extra effort. None at all.
