No beef, I was just really wondering, it is the 3rd iteration of WoW now. Wouldnt it make sense to make atleast the classic classic free?
I honestly think it could make the warcraft universe more accessible to more players.
well it is free your sub is kinda really only for so called “retail” meanwhile u get classic classic fresh, sod, cata classic, Classic era and classic hardcore.
Then let me rephrase it: they could really consider classic classic, outside of the subscription

You play for the infrastructure cost needed to run the game. Also bot-gating.
Blizzard is providing you a service, no matter how poor they run it, and it comes with a15 eur price tag. Supply and demand, Free market and whatnot. You dont have to play it.
Shareholders need more money, it’s like breathing to them, it’s the most necessary thing to their existence, money

It is more profitable for them to charge a sub fee because people are willing to pay it. Also, if it was free, this game would see an absolutely insane increase in botting. Presently the bots have overheads to pay, which is the sub fee. If it was free, a single botter could run thousands of accounts at the same time provided they had the hardware to do so.
Finally, it’s 9.99 per month. Were mostly a bunch of middle aged people playing this game, not little kids. Is IRL really that bad for enough people that they can’t afford 9.99? If that is the case, they shouldn’t play at all and need to raise their profession skills IRL instead.
also trial accounts work only for Retail - bloody unfair

if the game was free, it would be GG, a lot of small bot farm businesses would tap in since there’s no loss to their investment (because believe it or not, bots do get banned, but new bots are being leveled at all times, so one goes and another replaces them), and 80% of the server pop would turn into bots since day 1

Because the server/IT infrastaructre, regardless of how minimal the load is due to the game being 20 years old, costs a crapton of money to run/maintain. They are business and need to make money.
