"We dont want so many horde to use WM"

I think it’s a great idea. PvP rewards only for PvP mode!

lol
So their policy is to have LESS people playing the game? Seems legit, a good business practice.

Legion had more PVP quests in it than BfA has.

They were part of the WQ rotation so I have to agree. Now it’s just one weekly for Horde and two for Alliance.

Be alliance
Gank in a minimum 2:1 ratio and still lose
Go to forum and cry how horde outnumbers you, even though you
constantly gank in higher numbers and still lose, and your only way of wining
is by abusing sharding system.
But hey, at least u got a free heroic battle of dazar’alor gear right? Next time
cry harder and maybe Ion will give you a free 415ilvl gear.

Ion explained it pretty well to be honest. It just seems all a lot of people on here heard was “We want the Horde to turn Warmode off”. Waaahhhaaaaaa!!!

That is accurate but if you listen to Ion’s explanation you understand why.

Ion said that when WM was first introduced the factions were not too far apart. Not perfectly balanced but certainly ok. However, due to an issue with how sharding worked Alliance players often found themselves outnumbered by the Horde. We don’t know the full details of this issue only that Blizz eventually fixed it.

However due to this sharding problem many Alliance players turned off WM because they were always outnumbered and thus constantly ganked. Due to this more Horde players turned ON WM even though they had no intention of PVP’ing because they wanted the 10% buff. This then caused a big gap in faction representation in WPVP.

So even though the sharding problem had been fixed, the result from that issue was still very much around. Thus Blizz introduced the improved ‘Enlisted’ buff for the fewer faction.

The hope here was to get the underrepresented faction, in this case the Alliance to switch WM on. When Blizz said they want the Horde to turn it off Ion was referring to those who turned it on just because they wanted the 10% buff with no intention of WPVP’ing. This meant that the Alliance had an incentive to turn it on and for those Horde’s who had no intentioning of PVP’ing a reason to now switch it off.

According to Ion the gap has halfed since this has been introduced so like it or not it is clearly working.

Problem as I see it, is that its not reactive. Its just a flat out buff and that ironically horde favoured quest to get a free 400 ilvl piece of gear… wait.

If the buff was reactive then it would be changing constantly in each shard depending on the populations.

The problem of lopsided representation within WM is still there, its just gone the other way.

This is very true especially on RP realms where there appears to be much more Alliance than Horde and yet they still get the 30% buff and the quest.

I agree it should be server/shard stats that determine the percentage, not regional which correct me if I am wrong is what it is at the moment.

Yes I’m sure pre-8.1 where I corpse camped upon spawning in or landing on a FP all those Horde were doing a WQ! Man that one time that WQ sure was long, 3+ hours! Weird I never had a WQ at the inn of the enmy capital or in a tortallan camp that took 3 hours atleast…

And I hope we soon can get rid of the quest, rather have a healthy amount of Alliance in WM 24/7 than a gear quest.

Nah Blizzard just know that Alliance players are super bad at raiding so they provide them with free Heroic loot from current tier to even things out.:joy: /s
But for real, warmode is a flawed system. A pvp system that offers pve rewards. They are just too stubborn to suck it up and accept that they screwed up, like with the Diablo fiasco. Just bursting out “Don’t you guys have phones” instead of thinking things through.:joy:
If they are so stubborn to keep the alliance-only pvp quest in the game, at least change it so it rewards ilvl based on player’s ranked rating. That way if they want the 400 piece they have to actively play pvp and rise in rating (and also change the reward system for warmode).

Yeah, I’ve turned on warmode after a long time and was surprised how balanced it seems now. Though Horde is running around like chicken in solo mode. Alliance had to learn how to group up, before the fix. Gogo Alliance!!

You mean the boring tower quests?

Im surprised the thread hasnt been taken down immeadiately after you mentioned that thanks

I don’t know the right numbers, but if horde represent more percent of wow population and use WM on as default, even such rewards will not fix the issue.

I remember Wintergrasp alliance side, that have 200% stats buff /loser buff/, didn’t fix horde domination there. This will not fix any issue for lesser numbers on alliance side, people will do quest and stick to WM off and horde will stay the same as before.

For me this try to balance WM is pure stupid and DEV fail incore.

Shards can seem unbalanced, but it’s the group finder effect. Shards try to be balanced, lfg unbalances them. Both sides have lfg, and so it’s not a problem. The real issue is overall region faction imbalance, which was resulting in Horde overflow shards and not enough wpvp on some other shards. Part of that issue was too many Horde pure pve’ers in wm, not pvping. The reward system is naturally correcting these issues.

Therefore basing extra rewards on individual shards would have a more random effect on blizz’s aims: wanting all shards balanced and wpvp highly active. They need overall faction balance, so that there’s a roughly even number of players to balance ALL shards. Horde overflow shards seem less an issue now and wpvp is active, it’s working.

The base 10% is for inconvenience like extra gy walks. The 30% and kill quest are to encourage more Alliance to wpvp, and discourage Horde pure pve’ers. Bringing overall wm faction balance closer. It’s working.

No it’s not working. I am sure, that after weekly quest, a lot of alliance players just will switch WM off and situation will stay the same.

ofc they did. and Ion sees how much he failed with this.

the buff is aparently down to 15% and 370 gear on us servers.

so what we will see next week is again 0 allience in WM

Guess the new races are closer than expected then.

Let’s hope the free Hordemode players won’t massivly enable WM again.

We’ll see what happens, interesting natural selection going on. It could work out. I’m going to try and do my part, and help Horde pure pve’ers want to turn off wm. Gotta keep on them, so we can get faction balanced eu wm. Better wpvp can result, if more actual wpvpers are on shards.
