How do you not understand that some of us are very sure that they will be having an active sub in 6 months anyways. Been having one since BC (except for rl reasons) so I might be able to say that I have a rather realistic chance of being fine with this type of sub.

Ive been constantly subbed for the last 15 years and now I have new ARs and DKs to level up, as well as new content I cant see anything making me quit TBH. Wouldnt I be incredibly dumb not to go for the offer that gives me cheaper subs and a free mount!?
I get why Blizz do this as it gives them hard figures for the next 6mths but its not a big deal IMO. You can buy this with in game gold from the store as well as free with sub. Also the majority of the mounts are still aquired through playing the game.

I am playing now. What I mean is, it is not sure if I’ll be playing in the sense that I may get bored with the game, or do something else, in which case I’ll not be paying another 13 euros so why waste 66 for a mount?
They could have released the mount with 8.3 and made it accessible to all players through a myriad of ways: quest, drop, achievement, events. But no, paywall it is.
Wouldn’t it be cool if instead of released these Chinese new year mounts they made a New year event in game? With pandarens and all? And with that this mount would have been a reward? The same way the horseman horse is to Hallowed and Love rocket is to Love is in the air. I’m sure people would have gone crazy trying to farm it and would have enjoyed the heck out of it. But no, again, paywalls. I suppose it is easier to release stuff like this than actually doing work in game.
edit: Their aim is to get players who usually pay monthly to get it, which will show to their shareholders in the next quarter that they have more subs than what they actually have. And guess what it is working since, every couple of months it’s the same deal over and over.

Personally I get no joy what so ever out of having shop mounts, so it doesn’t matter how good they look. I just can’t use a store mount. It’s so not me, because it goes against how I play the game. I don’t do shop cosmetics.

Majority of the mounts in game are old. Players want fresh new content periodically. Since we also periodically pay. Is it too hard to ask?

And that’s why it’s on a 6 month sub, they reward you for being a “loyal” customer. I’ve changed my sub to 6 months with the last mount, it also saved me some money. I’ve not stopped playing in-between and I do not intended to stop in the near future. On one hand it will hint you to get a cheaper subscription if you keep playing, on the other it also rewards you for buying game time in bulk.
Maybe I should rephrase it. They don’t care about their customers. If they did they’d release the mount in game and give the 66 euro deal instead of 75 (?) without the mount. The only thing they care about in this period of time is their shareholders. They once cared about us. That time is long gone.

It’s not free. Out there there are players who surely periodically get the 6 month even without the deal. They just do it.
They didnt do this for those “loyal” players as you called them. They did this to get the players who usually sub 1 month to sub for 6 month, so that the next quarter they will show to their shareholders more subs than the one they actually have.
You speak of loyalty. Tell me, is someone who spends more money more loyal to someone who doesn’t? Does being rich make someone more loyal than someone with less money? That is not loyalty.
I’ve always loved Blizzard and Blizzard games. Untill recently had anyone asked me what my favourite gaming company was I would have said without a doubt “Blizzard”, but with the road they’ve been following in the recent years that view has changed. They once cared about their players. Now they care about their wallets.

The gaming industry isn’t what it was. Once WoW was the unchallenged King of MMOs, that changed PC gaming forever. Back then they could afford to be generous, playful, not have profit in mind because they already made a fortune. Heck, GMs would even appear in game and tell jokes and whatnot.
Myself I think listening too much to the players has ruined a lot in the game.
We still have the legacy but old times aren’t coming back, there is no Chromie irl.

It is for me. I’d still have a 6month sub, even if they didn’t offer me this mount for free.
More loyal as in a guaranteed customer. Someone who pays monthly, is more likely to leave than a customer who already paid for 6 months.
They care about making a game that people enjoy playing. Money is needed for that.

Back then this and back then that. Truth is that the company is in the hand of people who aim of getting to profit no matter the mean. This game could be great, were it in the right hands. There are companies out there who still try to make good games. One example GGG or Bungie. The latter especially since it became indipendent again.

I am thoroughly enjoying my free mount with my six month sub (this is not my first such mount) that I have never regretted or stopped playing the game. I do assess whether or not I will be spending that time in game or not and whether it’s worth my time. I can make that informed choice for myself, if anyone is in any doubt as to how long they want to play the game then no it’s not a good thing to get reduced cost game time with a free mount. Then you have the store option if it’s something you really want.
I do love how others want to tell people how to spend their money. Let alone on bulk buying reduced cost game time, or having a recurring six month sub.
There is also little difference between grinding gold in game to buy a store mount or grinding gold in game to buy it from an in game vendor.
