i think blizz cut that connection maybe
Classic servers are dead and can not be brought back to life. What Blizz should do is to create some new fresh Vanilla realms.
You honestly think a significant portion of those that went TBC would want this? Allow me to remind you the expectation of WOTLK.
Classic have survived. Are you doing your part or are you busy in TBC?
Vanilla is something entirely different that will never be recreated.
there is actually enough players on the two pvp clusters at the moment but they are split, we just need a merge of these clusters to have an healthy population. It’s a very easy solution and the whole era community is asking it for weeks now. Fresh is a completely different topic as the one we discuss here.
the whole game needs atleast 1-2k players to feel alive at all. Just cause you can fill one raid or queue up one warsong does not mean its alive.
This is a MMO and the game solo is rather bad. What makes it good is multiple ppl playing the same bad game.
One cluster can barely muster 200 ppl on any given day, not to mention that combining these will not get us near 1k either.
Its dead.
We need fresh or bust.
So the only reason we “need” fresh is because it will attract enough players?
You seem very certain. To me it seem completely false. Those that went TBC are generally not interested in a fresh classic.
Those that do want a fresh classic are finding themselves granted an opportunity with near dead realms.
Maybe you should consider this to? Or are you somehow under the impression that a fresh wouldn’t have bots that ruin the economy in no time? Or do you think phase 3+ wouldn’t come?
Do you have any idea of how many players that log onto classic wishing to play, but see a low count online and then just log off in despair. Adding to the problem. If people didn’t have the bandwagon mentality classic would be thriving.
Many of those that want a healthy classic just want population numbers up and the systems to adapt to that with server merges and transfers.
The idea of fresh classic will further split the community and it would be the real bust.
How many players were on each realm back in Vanilla?
@Darkdice I have never said we don’t need a fresh server, if it can make some players happy then i support it 100% but it’s not a reason to not merge the clusters to allow us to continue to play.
I’ve been playing almost two years on Flamelash, alliance side so yes i can tell you we can have a very nice classic experience even on a server with a very tight community. It’s actually way closer to the original vanilla than the huge servers of classic
So let’s focus a bit :
Merge all PvP cluster together.
Merge all Pve cluster together.
Remove the Pve-pvp transfer restriction.
Do you mean one of each kind of server for all EU? Or one for each language group, and what about the RP realms?
i would have said one PvP EU and one PvE EU since the french and the spanish for example can’t play at all on their clusters. I’ve spoken with some players from the pvp clusters of these 2 areas, it’s quite depressive for them.
The RP players said multiple times they don’t especially wish to be merged.
To keep the authentic server quality I wish they would eliminate all but a few realms, so that we are all actually on the same realm without that XRZ tag looming over our heads.
Offer name change for those with same name, whoever created the name first on whatever server gets to keep the name. This is really a petty problem.
The German players are ambivalent about a merge, but I do agree, if we make this 3 EU realms - as per Kyru’s post:
1 PvE
1 PvP
1 RP
and free transfer in all directions - Agree.
well blizzard has 12 days left to merge the servers into a somewhat playable experience or offical classic is gonna stay dead.
We french are ded even after the merge.
With that being said, to the contrary of what one’s impression is. I am all in for also connecting RP realm.
2 realms. PVP and PVE.
And I’m being lenient. There could be 1 realm, PVE.
Enabling PVP on PVE realm is always an option, an option that people already choose on PVE and RP-PVE. Is proof alone how pointless the RP-PVP server is.
This would just incentivize players to go to p-servers.
should be no need to merge PvE and PvP.
if my observations across the currently PvP realm pools is correct, a fully merged one pvp mega server should provide atleast 150-300 population per faction.
which can sustain a vanilla server according to more low pop but long running vanilla private of the past
Happy to represent an extreme option so that the most optimal option actually get track.
The problem is : if blizzard can’t offer a vanilla-like experience better than the p-serv, why give them money ?
that is arguably a point since blizzard’s classic from day1
However they dropped the ball so hard on how the handled classic era (and classic TBC to some extend) that there is honestly IMHO no “logical” reason to chose blizzard over certain other projects that shall not be named here
