For me you alredy know it is they totaly ignored smitepriests. The second thing is that i realy had hoped they would make so all mele classes could convert to Death knight at 60.
The third and last thing is that i had hope they would use all dungeons and raids in the vanilla map.
There should be at least 1 more phase after Naxx featuring new raid(s). I think SoD was a great success if you take into account how little development resources has been put into it. The only thing I regret is that they did not change even more bad vanilla things.
I think they went overboard with runes and new abilities.
The main thing I regret is loosing the âcasterâ feeling in PvP. The meta is too fast and bursty to set up 2.5 sec+ casts.
All the rune abilities are overpowered compared to the original spells and abilities. They then used too much resource into balancing them rather than creating new content, which was the most important point.
The phases capped at low level were a bit too much. Especially phase 3. I reckon we could have gone 40 to 60. It lead to such PvP imbalance and lack of content that SoD lost a lot of players then.
Otherwise, they made it so that every class/spec is playable and fairly enjoyable.
They made it so that we can toy around even more with meme builds spec/gear/rune wise.
They tweaked well enough the added xp bonuses so level to 60 is still a journey, albeit not a gritty one like era.
They added just enough QoL with extra water for mages, longer buffs, dual spec, reduce buffing mana cost, etc.
Thereâs a lot of positive and Iâve had a blast so far.
I think that they donât have any plans for it, if they had, they wonât release âANNIVERSARYâ servers, if I remember, sod realms were launched when it still was âActivision Blizzardâ, now, maybe devs received new orders from their management, to stop any investment in Sod and our most awaited âClassic +â, because itâs way easier just to milk classic classic, tbc classic, shadowlands classic, etc.
Because the quality of new xpac âThe war withinâ leaves much to be desired, lots of bugs, still not fixed dawnbreaker with this zeppelin landing etc, they will better release 90$ AH mount and groove money from ppl, why not, less work more profit. As I understood sod team is also working with classic, classic cata, hardcore servers, too few people for so much projects.
Ofc itâs just my assumptions
I donât want to believe azshara ends up being an empty useless zone even in SoD, please do something , anything!
If they wanted to do something, they will mention this on roadmap, they are planning projects on 1 year an further, but here is just cut after phase 7, and seems like itâs will be end; after that just Sod era
I always trye to see it from the bright side.
I realy do think we will get Classic+, but they cant just hit us whit it directly after SoD.
Now they have 2years to se how they can do +.
They got data to look at to see what can we do and not. They cant give us + whit the way it is now.
They said that they will ceep SoD runing after phase 7, but they dident say how.
Great start, awful ending. 1 year after, they still havenât fixed a single pvp stuff. Looking forward for better sod 2 ⌠meanwhile-> Hello fresh realms
I think that all of us understood, that if they will run sod like era servers with minor fix patches, in one-two months there will be playing 3,5 anonymous, like on Era servers.
Also, when phase 7 releases there will be Mists classic release, so, it seems like they are planning to dump this project, because they are doing everything to reduce the player base and show in their reports that it doesnât worth investing. And when most of ppl will go out from here they will close it like Som, and I hope they will find the way to implement our sod characters on fresh classic (or maybe not).
I know that Iâm too much dooming, but at least with such mindset in the end, if we will receive something more worthy then era I will be happier that expect classic plus but get just free transfer to era and being disappointed.
No PvP dedicated patch. I was waiting for a completely retuned pvp sets with set bonuses to make clear distinctions between pvp and pve sets, Azshara crater or some other BG, tuning for the pvp rep grinds and maybe some ingame ladder system to earn cosmetics.
Good, this team has no idea about classic wow and sod shows it.
This team has no clue about how to make a classic+ game. Itâs far better to have a classic and tbc cycle.
Who knows, maybe they had, but they are some kinda overwhelmed with other projects, (just assumption).
But it seems like they rly donât want to do classic plus, they can just re-release classic trilogy with minor changes (they still didnât announce wotlk, but Iâm sure, it will happen somewhere during tbc)
I donât believe for a second that they are capable of making a classic + game which is in the spirit of classic wow.
They are from a generation which grew up with a lot faster phased games which produces a lot more dopamine. They donât know anything else. Sod shows it clearly.
These are game âtrendsâ now, not a lot of players want to spirit link their lives with one game, lots of ppl prefer just to click âstart gameâ and play exactly the content they like, as we can see, retail wow still the most popular from all other versions, and Blizzard see this.
Exactly, thatâs why classic + will not feel like a classic game. They are not capable to make it
Classic+ shoudlnât be a classic game though.
No one wants to grind hundred of hours to reach max lvl anymore.
No one wants a PvE rotation comprised of a single button.
No one wants the top 3 DPS to be miles ahead of the rest.
No one wants to have only a single spec viable for end-game content.
That wouldnât fly anymore. Those fresh only work because weâre all attached to this game we used to play 20 years ago but to todayâs standards it wouldnât be considered that great.
What they did with SoD was good overall.
Yeah thereâs been quite a few things that went completely overboard and made us realize those devs can be clueless as to what the player base wants, but they delivered on the viability of every specs and the condensing of pve rotations (at least on the classes Iâve played).
Now when it comes to new content theyâve been rather timid to say the least. I donât know if itâs because they didnât have the time/resource/confidence or if itâs because they reserve that new content for a classic+.
Season of discovery is a beta and not doing too badly nowadays.
I wish theyâd reconsider some of the direction they took (especially on the powercreep and the amount of added abilities that made PvP nearly unplayable during some phases) but they made some pretty good class/spec mechanics.
I think the only way to get this ânewâ classic plus is only to wait, when retail storyline gonna finish and blizz can transfer all their resources to create new game.
Until this, we will be fed by Seasonal betas, or new fresh realms
I donât think a Classic+ would replace Retail.
They are bound to be 2 different games as they appeal to different kinds of gamers.
I tried Retail a bit but if it wasnât for SoD and Classic servers I wouldnât be playing. And I donât think Iâm the only one in that situation.
I reckon weâll have to wait at least after the new fresh get to TBC, possibly even once TBC is done.
Will see, anyway, this going to be interesting to see, what they are planning to do after this fresh will be end, but I donât think, that they are interested in doing another WoW game
My first MMO was ultima Online and i started to playe it 1997.
The rules they had would newer work in a game today. Basicly it was you got to stand for you own actions. If you kill another player you will get a murder count, you will be grey for 2 min. After 12 murdercounts you would turn red and it ment you couldent enter a city, any one could kill you whit no effect ( you are a murderer) and it took 12houers ingame to get rid of 1 count. if you was grey any one could do what ever they wanted to you whit nothing hapends. You got grey from stealing from other players ( yest you kould be a theieve and steal from other players), looting their corps or killing. They way it was done the game was that all you had on you could also been taken from your corps, and you had a wait limit what you could carry.
What im saying is yes there is a difference in what culture people has played in. Wow is easy mode. The hardest that hapends to you is ress timer.
People couldent handle this kind of game now days.
The most fun was the bounty board. If you got killed you could put in some money as a reward to the guy who killed your killer and cut of hes head and turned it in to a city guard.
