Weakest endgame patch since ... forever?

Zereth Morthis: I didnt like it at all but it offered quite a few activities and rares to farm.

Nzoth: No new zones really which was extremely lazy and dull. However we got the new corruption gear as a feature a long with visions.

Argus: Rares, Argus Invasions, catchup vendors, relics.

Hellfire Citadel: Apex farm, Mythic mode for dungeons got introduced. Legendary Ring Questline. This patch was on the weaker side as well.

Siege of Orgrimmar: Timeless Isle, Legendary Questline, Flex Raid introduction (this was back when the WoW team was MUCH smaller)

Dragon Soul: 3 new dungeons, transmog system introduction, reforge system introduction, extra baradin hold boss, Fangs of the Father legendary questline (team was MUCH smaller back then).

Why is this patch so light on content?

  • No new dungeon
  • No new feature
  • Barely any rares
  • A few flowers
  • A campaign questline
  • Superbloom (afk hacknslash)
  • Admittedly they have been slicing up the patches to deliver on the “faster” patch cycle which so far has simply been features stripped from 10.X.0 patches to 10.X.X to make it look like there are more features. So you could argue that the Dreamsure event belongs to this patch.
Ok but that still makes it extremely light, considering this game has more developers than EVER and for once no underlying issues that needed to be fixed during an expansion.

Cant wait for such patches to become 90€ patches right?
But yea, its probably the weakest major patch content I can remember and its probably the only content update you get for the next year.

Valid criticism tbh. This patch seems bare-bones compared to previous end-of-expansion patches.
I guess they will release one or two smaller content patches (10.2.5 / 10.2.7) before December 2024 to fill the gap.

I feel like this criticism is a bit forced. Partly because it presents things like catch up vendors as content, but most importantly because it ignores the general picture by focusing on one specific patch (the idea that WoD and DF are comparable is absurd) and because the way patches are rolled out and the content is distributed is very different now compared to the past. And we’re not even considering that this is not the final patch of Dragonflight. Given how beefy 0.5 have been recently, it feels a bit unfair to act like corruption gear and visions were stronger additions than what 10.2 offers and focus on that alone.
If a new zone, a new 9 boss raid, three new world events, quests, rares, sets, regular flying, new customisations, a new faction, UI improvements, and so on isn’t enough, I don’t know what is.
I mean 10.1.5 by old measures would easily count as a 10.2 in itself.
Judging by the amount of complaints about DF’s lack of content, I feel like we need another “Twitter integration” patch to remind us of how good we have it nowadays.

I’m glad things are slowing down for a bit, I have so much to do from older content!

id rather it be patches like this than patches that eat my Time IRL

i think going forward Time investment should be a player choice not a blizzard choice

  • you should never feel forced to do content

And Visions, which actually took a lot of effort to create and was entirely new SOLO and GROUP content.

Weakest final patch since WoD and it isnt even close.

Ok, so to quote your comment content and answering it:

  • No new dungeon (All other end patches had no dungeons either since Legion)
  • No new feature (There is no need to introduce new features every patch. Ever heard of feature bloat? Look at Warframe. That’s a feature-mess game.)
  • Barely any rares (People complained there were too many recently in the last 2 zones)
  • A few flowers (Really? That’s your problem? Repeatable World content being there is a problem for you?)
  • A campaign questline (… that isn’t even finishable yet with 3 more chapters to come tomorrow)
  • Superbloom (afk hacknslash) (if you don’t like it, don’t play it)
  • Forgotten Mentioning: The Raid in the Zone
  • Forgotten Mentioning: Old Dungeons updated for M+ and Megadungeon in Rotation
  • Forgotten Mentioning: New Class Tier Sets
  • Forgotten Mentioning: Catalyst available Day 1
  • Forgotten Mentioning: Balance Updates for Classes
  • Forgotten Mentioning: New Transmogs and Faction to level
  • Forgotten Mentioning: New Customization Updates for Elves

Shall I continue?

I think it’s AWESOME! :sunglasses: I LOVED seeing the emerald dream! I love seeing all the new and old faces returning and exploring all the new things in the area! Plus brand new quests to complete is always so FUN!

I feel this way too. A “catch up vendor” isn’t content, honestly the new zone gives you tons of gear. I went through on a 402 alt and it gained over 15 ilevels in just over an hour.

Some old patches had the selfie cam as the sum total of their content (near enough)

Zones like ZM sucked. At the start when you couldn’t fly a rare would spawn and if you weren’t close enough you’d have zero chance of getting to it. You get there as it died without tagging it, look at the map and see one on the other side. Rinse repeat. Yet now people wax lyrical with their rose tinted glasses about how wonderful it was and dump on you for not hating and memeing on the new zone.

  • No new dungeon (All other end patches had no dungeons either since Legion)
Yea but Legion had it along with another one ToS patch. SL was a disaster content wise due to internal stuff going on and corona if you want to believe it. And Nzoth patch had corruption, Visions (completely new small group content) and Assaults (equal to Dreamsurge if you want).
  • No new feature (There is no need to introduce new features every patch. Ever heard of feature bloat? Look at Warframe. That’s a feature-mess game.)
No but if everything else lacks its a bad sign. They couldve improved the Profession system further or do anything that makes the game better longterm. Instead we got nothing except some changes to the already exsiting gear upgrade system
  • Barely any rares (People complained there were too many recently in the last 2 zones)
So giving nothing in return is good? Afaik they dont even drop anything interesting, I may be wrong here
  • A few flowers (Really? That’s your problem? Repeatable World content being there is a problem for you?)
The problem is that its pretty boring. You walk over scarabs and pull out the bushes. The few lashers arent even worth it time wise, and the superbloom usually gives enough that you dont even have to do anything but click on the grow thing
  • A campaign questline (… that isn’t even finishable yet with 3 more chapters to come tomorrow)
Every last patch has a questline. Its one of the few positive things as I liked it so far
  • Superbloom (afk hacknslash) (if you don’t like it, don’t play it)
Make it better and more interesting, it has no threat unlike the Argus Invasions for example. Just afk follow.
  • Forgotten Mentioning: The Raid in the Zone
EVERY patch I mentioned has a raid, why should I mention it explicitly for 10.2?
  • Forgotten Mentioning: Old Dungeons updated for M+ and Megadungeon in Rotation
Rehashed stuff so they dont have to give us new dungeons like back in Legion. Not a good sign. The team has grown has it not? A patch like the Emerald Dream wouldve been the perfect opportunity for a themed dungeon.
  • Forgotten Mentioning: New Class Tier Sets
Every patch had class sets except BfA and 2 raids in SL. Even WoD had them. They are a good thing to chase for though.
  • Forgotten Mentioning: Catalyst available Day 1
How is this a feature? You change a number wow. Its a feature from Zereth Morthis patch that was brought over, nothing more.
  • Forgotten Mentioning: Balance Updates for Classes
    Are you serious?
  • Forgotten Mentioning: New Transmogs and Faction to level
    A few armor pieces, gratz.
  • Forgotten Mentioning: New Customization Updates for Elves
Really? Nexttime pick new Druid customizations, which is actually true and commendable.

Overall the patch is lacking hard considering their team size and path forward. The only hope is that the next patches they announced for DF will be richer and complement well besides some questlines to go over into the next expansion.

If blizzards solution to this is to make less game while we pay the same price to please people who can’t play. First of all no thanks… Maybe play a less time consuming game instead. But if so. the subscription should be a little cheaper at least. Considering we sub to pay them to make the best and most out of the game as possible.
idk… hope things picks up the next three expansions now that they have different teams working on several expansions ahead.

You have the backbone of a snail if a computer game ever forced you to do anything.

That goes both ways, i actually want to play the game, but ran out of stuff to do.

Seriously, “Feel forced to do content”? Did somebody from Blizz hold a gun to your head, saying “Now play, or else!” or something?

Your lack of willpower isn’t Blizzard’s problem, nor that of other players who want something to do in-game for their subscription fee.

ZM was full of optional content, but players still complained about it being too grindy and so it’s all been removed.

you can farm a months sub within a couple of days, its easy to make gold

gold can fund a sub

forced content i was referring to was Azerite grinds, and renown grinds for power levels
if you were playing mythic raids you had to farm those . to compete at the top end

im not saying this sparingly ( my old guild was rank 6 on our realm during bfa and sl for mythic raids)

the forced content directly affected power creep

blizzard and a big portion of playerbase collectively killed open world content of this game . it’s the weakest because that’s how people wanted it to be i guess we became the minority with people like us leaving the game in last year

Yeah you can buy sub for gold. But if its so easy as you imply then wouldn’t everybody be doing it then? Wouldn’t it be common knowledge to do so then? Could you tell how you easily make enough gold to pay for a sub all of us could use?

Anyway. Even though allot people pay for their subs with gold. It doesn’t take away the value of those who pays for it away.

I think Blizzard relies increasingly on engagement revolving around achieving, completing, and collecting, and less around journeying, adventuring, and exploring.

It’s cheaper to develop that kind of game experience, and a lot of people are hooked on it. The people who aren’t though, they look at what’s presented to them and struggle to see the value.
