Weapons skill

I guess the sescription isn’t 100% correct? It’s not only about hit chance, but damage also. In the first levels it does nearly zero damage.

Weapon skill and hit rating in Vanilla is super weird and complicated and litterally no one knows how it works.

Incorrect. There are tables showing exactly how they work and when the different formulas apply. (:

Lmao everyone knows how it works

Yeah I got ravager yesterday and kept doing SM armory for the helmet and pants. Next couple of runs were quite fun starting with 1/200 2h axe skill :stuck_out_tongue:

2 OP: when you hit mobs more than 2 levels above you (orange) 40% of your autoattacks are glancing blows (70% of normal hit damage if your weapon skill is max for your level, eg level*5) and your chance to hit them is reduced by 3% more. Higher weapon skill allows you to reduce the gap. You shouldn’t worry about it at all, as there’s nothing you can do about it while levelling. If you chance to loot the item that gives you weapon skill, keep it and use it (Edgemaster’s Handguards for example are level 47 world drop and bis for fury warriors for the whole game including naxx). You have a slight advantage of being a human with +5 weapon skill in swords and maces (both 1h and 2h).

Edgemaster’s handguards are really really good for a reason you know? : )

wowwiki dot fandom’s “weapon Skill” page has a MASSIVE list of all the formulas for how it all works

I remember going to the deeprun tram and killing rats for an hour to raise the skill.

If by “literally no one” you mean people who don’t know how to run simple tests or google said tests, then yes.

Everyone knows how it works by now.

Weapon skill, defense skill and how they relate to each other and balance the game is one of the main reasons I prefer classic to retail. It is genius. It makes bosses - bosses (crushings etc.), lower levs feel significantly easier to kill, and gives a proper requirement for tank classes with +defense and mechanisms like block, (or higher armour for Druids to compensate).

It is genius because it’s an old-school RPG element.

Almost makes me wonder the thought process that happened at Blizzard HQ before Cata for them to just completely remove such a staple RPG element. But hey, that’s when they pruned the game en masse, so yeah…

I mean, when i have 1 point on weapon skill and try to attack, i do very little damage. If the skill increases a little, the i do the normal damage. So it’s not only about the hit chance.
