Weather effects

I’ve spent the best part of today playing and experimenting with the graphics settings but one thing that is bothering me is the lack of weather effects.

There was a small amount of rain going on earlier, however it didn’t seem to have the same immersive effect. I am sure the rain would often really come down hard with fog and even thundering sounds. I also recall there being blizzards and sand storms that really felt ominous and intense/immersive, especially in badlands and tanaris.

Has anyone encountered this yet (on wow classic, not private realms please)? If you have, can you post a screenshot here? I have seen the original 1.10 effects but the engine is somewhat different now so I was wondering if weather has just been overlooked or forgotten.

It rained hard at Elwyn Forest on stonespisne (?) This afternoon, for about 20 minutes. It was like heavy rain, not retail rain.

Did you try

/console WeatherDensity 3

Yes I was leveling in Tanaris and saw Sand Storms

What does it do lady.

It is the most dense setting for the weather effects, for example if it’s raining it will appear as more heavy rain.

Oh good to know thanks! do I have to do it in files or just ingame every time it rains?

It should just be a command you put in once. It’s a script.

I’ll give that console command a try! Thank you!

I have heard of the command before but I thought that value was tweaked by the particle density setting.

I might stealth over to alterac and see if I can capture the snow and compare.

I know it’s only a small thing but immersion and the lack of it in recent expansions have really bugged me.

I most often saw the fog + rain effect in STV, I’ll be hoping to see it there as it looked amazing.

Is night as dark as it was, or is it the same as retail? It doesn’t seem as dark, but my memory could be playing tricks on me.
