Weekly Content has become overwhelming

Are you acting this stupid on purpose or do you not realize you don’t have to do anything on reset day.

Funny, because Raids and Dungeons are exactly what I would call “pointless filler” from my perspective.
It’s all in the eye of the beholder and there is more perspectives than yours. Shocking, I know

  • 99% of the story takes place in the overworld.
  • 99,9%+ of the total “surface” is used by the overworld.
  • The overworld is designed to be semi-dynamic with rare spawns, dynamic spawns and various events changing what happens, pretty much guaranteeing that no 2 days will have players do similar order of actions to get their goals completed.
  • Dungeons and raids are a miniscule subset of the total game data designed to be run multiple times and are for their vast majority static in their design (only M+ affixes make them dynamic, and other players)

Seems to me like Dungeons and Raids are the filler content…

Can we just be happy we have content to do and not rush it or argue about it?

FF14 had an over abundance of things to do but I never complained about that. Heck we had an arcade and casino that wasn’t seasonal…

I think it comes down to the WoW player mentality. A lot of players feel the need to do everything.

Even my own brother quit playing because it became “too much” for him. He has that mindset where, if he can’t complete it all, he won’t play at all.

I get your point—you can just skip the content you don’t want to do, and you’ll be fine. But for players who aren’t wired that way, it’s overwhelming how much there is to tackle.

For example, my wife and I stopped doing the quests at the farm in the third zone. It was taking over an hour to get through it all, and we just didn’t care about the reputation we’d miss. But some players do.

You’re also right about FF14. There’s even more content, but the playerbase there has a very different mindset compared to the average WoW player.

It is not. There is literally like 4 wq spawns each day and you have 7 days to do the 4 weekly event which takes about 10 minutes each.

Don’t push this narrative that it is overwhelming because there is a content shortage in the game outside of raid and m+. If anything they should add like 5 times more wqs and daily quests world events/objectives, tons more rares that drops pets and mounts etc.

When one side tell there is too much to do, while other told that wasn’t enough. It is the design flaw of modern wow- You are being “forced” to play in certain pace. And if you don’t then you are losing content. If you don’t do them this week then you can’t make it up next week. That why I loved classic. Were you casual or nolifer- You played in your pace and you didn’t miss out on things.

Is it me or in Legion the world quests rotated much more quicky ? Like I would log on and be interested in what new quests popped up for today. And there would be quite a few new ones.

Now in TWW, you get so little new quests that you might skip a day or two and not miss anything. Quests also last a lot longer (at least a few days), before in Legion I remember quests that lasted just a few hours and people would tell their friends to log in and do “that quest” before it goes away. Seems it’s no longer the case now.

Gaming takes more time than most people’s jobs these days.

It seems the model is “pick a game and play it” whereas historically, people would play a few different games.

A few years ago now, someone on youtube said that they struggled to keep on top of all the games they like, and gaming is their job, so I have no idea how a person who works outside of games journalism would do it.

Your brother is a beacon of light in the darkness of humanity.
