What are the hard counter to Shadowpriest?

So far even when people fight back I get the feeling I’m beating up toddlers, but with the rock, paper, scissors nature of vanilla/classic there has to be some hard counter to me.

So what the hard 1v1 supposed to be for shadow priests?

  • Ret paladin - this seems to be somewhat random, I sometime get deleted by them - but they never stick around for seconds, so I can’t be sure if it’s a fluke or cooldown.
  • Warriors - no contest.
  • Rogues - they mostly die to dots while I’m stunned/blinded/gouged
  • Shadow priests, should be 50%/50% it’s not possibly due to WotF
  • Hunters, fairly easy - they should be able to kite me, but never seem to
  • Mages, tend to blink/run away and die to dots
  • Druids, the challenge here is actually killing them before the manage to run to moonglade

I get that shadow priest is strong in 1vs1 and that a lot of people are clueless levelers - but I too am new to the class.

This isn’t about me bragging, I’m trying to learn how to be good at pvp before p2 hits, but so far there really isn’t much challenge even if the target has 5 levels on me.

TLDR; if I want to have a difficult fight with out intentionally gimping my self, what classes should I try to target while leveling?

Roll a real race instead of that hand-holding undead edgy kid race, and I’ll show you a challenge.

Hunter who knows how to press viper sting and run away from their target.

Rekt by ret paladins? How embarassing.

There is none. We are too mighty brother.

It doesn’t happen often, but yeah I’ve had one or two kill me in the space of one mindblast.

Looking at the log all I see are auto attacks, so at first I assumed it was down to lag, but it’s happened a few times since. So I’m assuming there is some kind of cooldown involved, that also explains why they were very busy being elsewhere instead of camping me

between shadowreach, spiderbelt and the nifty stopwatch I usually can get in fear range of them - and then it’s game over for them.

But yeah with a bit more stamina gear and the ability to click off aspect of the cheeta this is a fight I expect to loose in the long term

There is none. Shadowpriests (that didnt completely suck) where not beatable in Vanilla 1vs1, no matter how good you where with another class.

But thats part of the Classic-Experience, to know whom not to fight 1on1.
Another example, you dont face a Mage Head on, he will most likely Oneshot you.

I’m seem to remember locks mana draining shadowpriests in chain fears and then laughing at them.

It’s a bit rich looking for a challenge in pvp but picking wotf

Indiana Jones.

The choices were undead or troll, have you seen the troll model? :stuck_out_tongue:

You gonna be surprised running into a full prot warrior and die for a stunlock.

I’ll look forward to that, the problem for warriors thus far have been that they are rage starved during the fight - prot has a means to mitigate this I take it?

Rogue: 30/0/21 Cheap shot you get 3 points. Ghost strike crit you get 2 points, 5 points on eviscerate. Blind. Restore energy and stealth. Crit Ambush you get 3 points, kidney shot on 3 points (4sec), vanish and Ambush, probably another crit, another 3 points, backstap and eviscerate. You are still alive? PREPARATION and repeat. bye.

Druid: it is outdoor or bg? he survive if he doesnt kill you. Is a duel? you win.

Shaman in a duel: Forget it even if he is elemental.

mage: Poly, Pyro, POM (Presence of mind), Pyro. Bye. Even seems a song for a kids: polypyropompyro 37/0/14

the rest, yeah, they don’t use to face you.

Don’t even need a ragepot
Actually the only benefit of prot is a shield slam purging pws. And additional stun if you don’t die fast enough xD

hahaha i don’t blame you at all, if i wanted to play horde - i’d pick it too!

There isn’t one in a 1v1 situation. Warlocks might be somewhat even, but that’s it.

I realize it might read that way, but it’s written because I’ve a genuine concern that I’ll hit 60 and will have the tables turned on me because I was never challenged when I was practicing pvp.

Once we have stamina gear, i dont find SP’s difficult as a lock. Especially when i’m horde and i dont have to face undead.

A purging Shaman.
