What are the longterm plans for Anniversary-servers?

Launch is almost upon us and a ton of people have been asking repeatedly on the forums wether we will have the option to preserve our characters and keep playing on TBC-ERA and perhaps WOTLK-ERA if it goes through that expansion as well.

I don’t want to spend 1 year in tbc only to have it killed off again or be forced into cataclysm. Especially since Im going to reroll a new race at launch of tbc. It takes away from that short year.

If you want more subs - What are your plans?

After all these years people still think they read the eu forums?

I would imagine Blizzard not passing the chance to monetize character cloning at each transition period to TBC (and WOTLK if it ever applies).

Even transferring from a different variant of WoW to Era should not be a problem unless something really fundamentally different is being done.

Since we already have an “progression expansion client” , aka Cataclysm and beyond, it will be stupid for them to do the same.

Hence, why we get new servers now and with some changes.

I assume we will have ERA for one of the 2 : TBC or Wotlk or both. I am pretty positive about this.

Going from Classic Vanilla to Classic Wotlk is common sense. Going from Classic Vanilla to …Cataclysm and beyond is idiocracy.

So I bet my money that this will stop with Wotlk ( which is exactly what I want ) and stop there.

The thing is, we assumed the logical thing last time as well and all those characters and all that work we put in then is all lost, forcefully moved to Cataclysm and I suppose soon into Mist of Pandaria.

And since they refused us era-servers last time, I’m really not expecting it this time around either. Unless they announce what their plans for the servers are.

I’m really not interested in spending a bunch of time building characters if they all will disappear after a year in TBC - again.
