in my opinion, too much alt friendly. causes players to finish content too fast and then they leave.
also the new talent trees. honestly, there is no point to it. it is min/maxed since day 1, most do guides and the end result is the same as the mop system.
requests for “interesting proffesions” (whatever that means). we got now a talent tree inside them, and inside the talent trees a sort of weird knowledge specialization and quality ingredients.
Well, I disagree with both your points, but as for my own, I think a great example of this is making old content trivial. Day after day we see people complaining about how this, that, and the other cannot be defeated solo. Or people farming mounts on their own for a decade, one-shotting it every time, complaining if something or other changes that makes the encounter harder, or complaining they can’t yet solo BfA, etc.
You don’t want to do that. You think you do, but you don’t.
i never thought about it, it could actually be fun to do old content with people, and not accidently skip all the phases of the fight because you killed the boss in one hit.
lets say a new player comes, he wants to know how it was like to fight Guldan mythic and the secret final phase. but he can never do it by one-shotting the boss.
yes, there are timewalking raids, but there are never enough people for it.
they could add timewalking diffuculty to every old raid.
Well it’s not that there aren’t enough people for it - it’s that it’s a timed event that doesn’t need to be one and that the rewards inside simply aren’t worth anything.
They could do to raiding what they just did to M+, but I’m not convinced that’s the right approach. I think the right approach is to fix levelling and use raids as dungeons in it. Use all this content to provide a more interesting levelling experience with some challenges and fun asking the way. Levelling shouldn’t be a 20 hours affair where you’re just steamrolling everything without learning anything about the class you’re playing.
That’s actually another example - you think you want ultra fast levelling, but you don’t. You want levelling to be worth your time, and something being worth your time means it’s fun and meaningful progression full of adventure, community, exploration, and challenges. Currently levelling is a joke. If you want to level, no matter who you are, you should play classic era. That’s where it works and that’s where it’s fun.
If this is your opinion then the system clearly wasn’t intended for you. Here’s the thing: if a player simply picks whichever talents a 3rd party website tells them to pick, then to that player it doesn’t matter in the slightest what the talent system is, or if there even is a talent system in the game at all in the first place, because they don’t engage with it. Whether there are 300 talents or 0 it doesn’t matter to that player, because they will always have the “ideal” build regardless, and they will not spend any time changing them.
But for a player who picks their own talents, the new talent system makes a world of difference. I cannot overstate how much of an improvement the new talent system is. No, not as good as the one we had in Vanilla-WoTLK, but a massive improvement regardless. For years, the MoP talent system was the #1 reason for me not to sub to the game. It was the single worst change they’ve ever made, and that’s saying something.
Sorry for the rant and a bit of an OT, I just felt like that had to be said.
To actually answer the question and contribute to the thread as it was intended, I don’t think adding new classes and races is a good thing.
Instead of adding new classes, I’d much rather they focused on improving existing ones. Hell, the game would’ve been much better if they didn’t decide to add the monk and DH class as far as I’m concerned.
As for races, people don’t even play new races. How many goblins are there running around? Pandas? Mechagnomes? Highborne? The only race added since Cata that is somewhat played and popular are the Void elves, and that’s only because it was the most popular race the Horde had that they just decided to also give to the Aliance.
This isn’t true - I see lots of people who are doing there own thing with talents and not just copying icy vains.
Myself for example I could do more DPS if I picked a certain ability talent but picked something else to keep my rotation simpler.
I’m also loving the new profs system and find it sad that people are whining about it because the only thing that’ll come out of that whining is a return to whatever boring systems we’ve had before.
if you played vanilla-wotlk, you obviously dont remember it very well.
if you didnt have the right talents, your damage was lower by ALOT. wrong talents could send you from number 2 on the dps chart to numer 6. which means guilds wont allow you into raids until you agree to change spec to the best one.
there is always “the correct” talent system. the one that gets the most dps/heal/tanking.
choice in talent trees does not exist. unless you dont want to do less damage…
the game need new races and classes. races is just pixels, and its the type of content the refreshes the game. classes is a bit more complicated, but a good fun class can add alot.
can you imagine wow for soon-to-be 20 years stuck with 5 races per faction and only the same classes from release ? thats insanity. its boring and stale.
DH was a requested class since release, pretty much by every person who played warcraft 3. and its a good class with good gameplay.
before pandaren and monks i played warlock undead. as fun as it was, playing pandaren monk is a blast.
The heck are you talking about.
I am not even leveling my alts because I know it would take forever for them to catch up right now (I would had liked an XP discount).
If I am to leave I would do so due to not being able to be bothered with getting alts from 60 to 70 and up to speed in gear, knowledge and renown while also having to catch up on materials and currencies that should had been BoA
Are we playing the same game?
Removing tank bracket from solo shuffle - The same people who asked for this are now whining that queues take forever.
Removal of gear upgrades in pvp - Rated pvp has way lower participation than SL. Surprise surprise when you remove the main incentive most people stop playing.
No borrowed power - Nothing interesting to spice up your gameplay variation like legendaries and covenants.
I spent 10 years playing TBC and WoTLK, I think I remember them pretty well.
Not having the right talents wasn’t nearly as dramatic as you make it out to be. In a top-tier raid group where every tiny bit matters? Maybe. But for the vast majority of players, playing their own thing was perfectly fine and didn’t make a huge difference, assuming their build wasn’t completely bonkers. Guilds do not actually give a damn how you play as long as you perform “within spec”. I certainly never had issues doing my own thing.
Edit: It’s also important to note that if the “ideal” build doesn’t fit someone’s play style, it’s entirely possible for them to perform better with what would otherwise be considered “sub-optimal” build. That was definitely the case for me at times.
The “correct” talent build is that which the player finds the most enjoyment in playing. For some that might be one that allows them to do maximum damage, for someone else that might be something entirely different. You assume that every player wants to play the game as optimally as possible and to perform as best as possible, which is a completely insane assumption to make.
“Can I imagine it”? The original races we had in TBC still make up the vast majority of races people play. Had they removed any new race added after TBC, I’d probably take a good while to notice. And I’d rather they don’t add a class at all rather than adding one that will, in my personal opinion of course, make the game less enjoyable, which happens to be the case with Monk and DH.
And how many of the people that requested DH to be a playable class are happy with how it was implemented? Had you asked me prior to Legion’s release if I wanted a DH class to be a thing, I’d tell you that yes, I would. It’s easy to say you want something without knowing how it’s gonna actually turn-out. From what I’ve seen, people on the forums tend to complain about DHs more than other classes, so I don’t think I’m entirely alone in my dissatisfaction.
Is that a Jokepost?
Altfriendly:
This is the first Expansion I dont do Alts because there is too much to do on one char and I really dont want to do it all again on Alts.
Talent Tree:
There is no need to look up Guides because the Talents are for the first time speaking for itself. Plus even the Passives arent for the most part not just simply Stat X plus 1%, but really have an impact on the way the character plays. They have nothing to do with the old Talenttrees and are certainly better than anything we had in a long time.
Professions: Some problems there, but still way better than it ever was.

This is why humanity may be doomed.
Some desire to continue/repeat what was proven a very bad idea.
Meta slaves will be meta slaves no matter what Blizzard does. The game is an RPG and any attempt to make it competitive undermines the RPG concept. If you want to have some dumb fun you have plenty of choice but if you want to rise the ranks there will always be one choice that makes the most sense.
The foundation is there with the new talent trees though. With a little bit of tuning to some of the talents whereby the disparity between 2 different builds becomes insignificant, then there won’t be such a need for everybody to run virtually the same build.
Personally love the new talent trees and haven’t followed any guides; they’re infinitely better than the old ones with very restricted choices. Also could really do without different qualities for every single type of stone/cloth. Alternative being give us at least one more bag slot for them.
Another ‘you think you do but you don’t’ is the ridiculously quick arrival of the first patch which is beginning to switch my anxiety/panic on. I’m still in the 3rd zone and still have loads to do, haven’t reached the 4th yet. So many quest chains and side stuff. I’m loving it all but don’t need more yet.
alot of people are happy with the DH class. its a very enjoyable class and i dont see many complaints, if any, from the people who play them.
DH may not be ‘you’. but they definatelly work for many other people.
your weird attack on DH and monks is weird. these are great classes. DH, Monks, DK. all are great. evoker on the other had was a bad idea, mostly because it looks really weird and not like a character someone would be will to spend years playing.
Group Loot for pugs/LFR
I don’t know who da fack asked for this, but Blizzard listened apparently.
Solo shuffle. Waiting 1 hour as dps just destroys the whole purpose of shuffle, which was made to make finding people for 3v3 easier and faster.
I can’t play healer 24/7, I want to have some fun as dps too, healer gets too stressful. But I can’t. So what’s the point? The unrated shuffle in Shadowlands was way faster for the dps which made it fun.
I think Group Loot is the best example of “you think you want it, but you don’t”.
With the new talent system I feel like it’s a mixed bag. I have never fully followed guides, but I do mostly follow them, I’ve been kicked from groups too many times because of the wrong talents and do not want a repeat of that (for example for using Incanter’s flow instead of Rune of power on all my mages, because I hate Rune of power), as well as having generally no idea what would be good, I was very tempted to not take the interrupt for my Evoker because of the extremely long cooldown, but it turns out it’s fine if I only use it to interrupt very dangerous casts that everyone else seems to miss. That being said though, I absolutely hate Stasis and the way it plays, but love Dream Flight, so that’s what I run. Haven’t been called out for it yet, but I will still never use Stasis.
Disagree with you concerning Talent Trees being ‘min/maxed’
There is no ‘BIS’ talent build
For my class (Monk) talents are very situational
I can use a variety of different builds and get more or less the same outcome
It just depends what you need at the time.
The new trees are a big improvement from what we had previously.
