Hello guys, I’m revamping our guild discord for TBC and I was wondering if anyone here with lots of discord experience has any tips or suggestions for me!
What I’m interested in hearing about is how you guys handle your guild discords. What sort of general set up do you use. Do you also use it for pug hosting? How do you stop people from leaking invites, what bots you use if any etc etc
Just gathering ideas and inspiration for now ^^ I have some ideas but I have not managed a discord community of over 700 before. I have basic auto moderation in place but in general I’d like the space to be more user friendly! Wordy intro pages and rules really aren’t too helpful to me so far as I find people rarely read them.
Our discord has following channel groups and channels: 1. Lobby for who joins the server - One channel 2. Hidden management channels for officers - ? channels 3. HR - 5 channels
3.1 Info - Raid times, how to get to raids, how raids are formed, the intention of raids, how loot is distributed, who are the officers, who are going to be most likely raid leaders, explanation of the other roles and what addons you need to bring to raids/what addons are highly recommended - Locked channel 3.2 Feedback - Very short info on the intent of the channel - Open channel 3.3 Bulleting board - Basically where you update players on raiding information - Open channel, but mostly officers will use this 3.4 Absentees - If core members are taking time off they’ll just write something here to let people know - Open channel 3.5 Resources - Gear list doc where players update their gear, Professions list where players update their professions and what they have, Raiding list for gear that is prioritized for certain classes - Closed channel
4. PvE - 4 channels and 5 voice channels 4.1 General PvE channel - People can organize leveling groups, dungeons and whatever PvE related stuff here. Not for exchanging weather notes or stuff like that. Keep it in-game PvE stuff - Open channel 4.2 Karazhan - Same idea except for Karazhan - Closed channel 4.3 Gruuls-lair - -//- 4.4. Magtheridons-lair - -//-
5. PvP - 1 channel, 3 voice channels - Same idea as PvE without the raid/dungeon stuff
6. Chill - 1 channel, 1 voice channel 6.1 Just-chatting - The general chat of the server. Spew your garbo here whatever it is - Open channel
7. Role channels - 4 channels 7.1 Tanks - Gearing lists, guides, questions and so on - Open channel 7.2 Healers - -//- 7.3 Physical DPS - -//- 7.4 Caster DPS - -//-
That’s basically what is in our discord server
EDIT: For public stuff we have a separate discord server that has basically the PvE and Chill channels copypasted there. If you wanna keep that stuff in the same guild server I think it gets messy, but if you think it works then sure
