What are your thoughts on mage boosting?

Sure dude, I’ve never played vanilla nor TBC, whatever you say is true.

How mobs are pathing. Ie when jumping on the totem in maraudon 1 pull the mob should evade and reset eventually. I know that some pathing like this existed, ie in the DMW solo farm that is still being done today, but I’m fairly certain the mara totem would evade.

Being a latecomer to classic I feel that it’s had a massive impact in the levelling experience. It’s very hard to get groups for most dungeons, sometimes waiting for 4 days or longer to get a group. If people weren’t getting afk boosted for silly amounts of gold I definitely think the levelling experience would be much better.

I mean I played on a few private servers and I honestly can’t remember boosts getting spammed 24/7. I could always get a group whilst lvling for random low lvl dungeons.

I think that has largely to with the fact, that private servers had a lot of new players coming into the game at any given moment. In classic however, most people started simultaniously and numbers shrunk (as it was expected, not really a bad thing). So most people got at least 1 lvl 60 char and the gold to pay for boosts, or just dont wanna level “normally” again.

i’m Mage, I don’t do Maraudon. I prefer to farm ZF and DME solo.

Wasting my time to find people for boosting, then talking to them for trade golds, reset, go out, take care of mobs, blablabla, is to much effort. I don’t want to waste my time with people in my groups when I farm. I just put music with max volume and I go nobrainer. Less efficient than Maraudon boosting, but at the end I don’t depends on others.

If people want to do that, it’s their choice. I don’t mind a nerf, because at the end it affect the whole player base : lot of players are avoiding quests and dungeons with normal player, just to pay for a boosting Maraudon … and normal players can’t go into normal dungeon or struggle to find a group. So yes, nerf or not, I don’t really care. I would say go nerf. And same, nerf the Mage blade from Princess, it’s just ridiculous to have infinite mana with this item.

I really would like to see the reason for anyone to be calling that OP and asking for nerf, since these Boosts doesn’t make more gold than any other farming spots. So that’s not jealousy. What is it? You don’t want people to play the game how they want it? Why do you even care? Why you think there’s even a problem in that? I mean yea, i get it, people playing classic not how it meant/was to be played back in the days, they miss a lot of content, hardcore, e.t.c. In other words they get to 60 much easily and quickly. That’s it? Yea, that’s a problem. But it shouldn’t be bothering you or any of us. That’s their problem, and they realize it on 60, when they hit the cap but they can’t do sheet, they know nothing.

On the other side tho, people are rushing through the leveling routine for a good reason too. Some of us already have 1 or 2 60, and need to lvl up another one, but they don’t have enough time for that, or they got enough of lvling on their main. I wouldn’t blame them. Why would you?

I wish i could get rich from boosting zoomers in dungeons

All I want to say on the topic is I fully understand the drive to do it.
I have this main, I levelled it on Kalimdor mostly for Darnassus rep. Now I’m veeeeeery slowly levelling an alt in Eastern Kingdoms to experience the superior Human/Dwarf circuit. And will probably abandon it in/during STV + Theramore, since I did all the higher level content like Tanaris/Feralas/Hinterlands triangle and all the 48+ zones on my Mage. I can’t even imagine doing them all again same year (well next year but in span of 7 months, you get my meaning).
The thought of ever levelling a 3rd char is outright ridiculous, and if I were to ever do it, maybe to have a hunter ready for TBC if i decide to switch mains, then you can bet it will be afk boosts or mindless mob slaugtering while listening to podcast and not even looting them and just feeding greens off ah to him from my mage. Jesus the very thought makes me shudder.
Maybe if I weren’t such a backpeddaling clicker boomer gamer dad, I’d try my hands on some of this AoE, but I’d probably fail. Actually I tried in ZG graveyard back in november and did fail. Single killing mobs in Tyr’s Hand is more close to my speed lane.

Every single mage got through the pain of failing on aoe farming. Everyone struggled at the beggining. Some people got it quicker than others, but anyways. Stop blaming yourself, get your mage inside ZF, and do everyting as it is done on youtube guide, step by step, and you’ll get it eventually. I got the hang of it in two days, and i was really close to deleting the game cuz i felt like i’m the last sucker on the earth

On ZT Horde I constantly see people spamming in World and LFG chats… asking for boosts, not offering it. Demand seems to be much higher than supply.
I also constantly see flood of LFM messages for dungeons. Leveled 6 alts and could always find people to go dungeons with (not counting lack of tanks, that is normal)
So I think if someone struggles with LFM it caused by low amount of new players and/or low server population

The first and the most reason is that people being lazy. Everyone spams LFG, and only few people are ready to form a group. Plus when i’m (and i think most of players) spamming LFM i don’t read LFG chat. I want people to contact me if they are really interested. It’s more convinient.

At least you admit it

Lol I have felt the exact same way. Yesterday I spent 6 hours trying to get the hang of the ZY GF farm. In those 6 hours, I made around 40k xp, so you can imagine I died alot :stuck_out_tongue: Didnt clear the GY yesterday, but now atlesat I feel pretty comfortable getting to the GY and rarely die on the way through the instance. i guess that’s something :stuck_out_tongue:

You getting the hang of it step by step. Be sure to use right build tho. You’re on a right path

I made a mage just for the reason to make gold. The thing I enjoyed about it was never relying on groups. If I felt like relaxing I’d just level in zf gy or dm east while making some nice gold. Also find now it’s nice to have my mage, I PvP a lot on my pala in av and sometimes /afk turtle matches and farm on my mage for 15 mins until deserter has gone. Just adds another incentive to the game

A tip I recently found myself in ZF GY that I thought was server lagg, if you run over graves while kiting it kind of classes it as jumping and the mobs can hit you at a greater distance, so keep that in mind! You will get used too it, I died a lot and can now farm it subconsciously while watching something on Netflix :joy:

Thx for the tip! I will try and remember that. And nice to know Im not the only one dying in the beginning :stuck_out_tongue:

Good luck bud, i found it quite fun and a different approach to the game. Last bit of advice where I made a mistake, don’t sit solo farming all the way too 60. I’ve missed out or only just completed my attunement quests all because I was solo farming constantly. Also enchanting and tailoring is damn good for these farms for gold.

And so I did. Because I’m a man, not a door mat!
4 hours later I am on PTR (it’s free deaths lol), standing over corpses of 2 groups of ZG (yes, Zul’Gurub) crocs slain by CoC and a million Rank 1 explosions. Bijous and coins, riches and women, here I come!
Thank you my dude, you literally just improved the rest of Classic for me severalfold. <3

That’s cringe, but such is life.

Reminds me of BRD prison spam on 3.3.5 private servers. Except the wider level range.
