What are your thoughts on mage boosting?

We all know boosting existed in original vanilla, but it was normally something where you would get a level 60 to boost you through a dungeon once to complete the quests if you couldn’t find a group yourself. Very much similar to how boosting was in the first 2-3 months of classic.

It feels to be like modern mage boosting with over 100k xp/hour was something that never really existed in vanilla, and had it been discovered back then i’m pretty sure blizzard would of done something about it.

Do you think the current system is a problem for the game? if blizzard was to nerf it i think the obvious target would the be magic absorption tallent. It’s kind of what gives mages the ulmimited mana to make a lot of the crazy pulls work. Sure without it mages can do pretty impressive pulls, and they’d still be able to pull RFC in a single pull. They would how ever be unable to pull the entire of maraudon purple side in 1 pull

It is … well, my heart is kinda bleeding and I think there should be deffinitely some penalty for power-boosting to discourage repeating it all day long. I am up for help, but this is slightly out of hand. But whatever, there always be 1-2 players in location I am currently leveling in, so no hard feelings, let people do what they want

Pretty cringe, but if people want to pay money to not play the game then who am I to stop them.

I remember it being done in Vanilla, my guild boosted me all the way through the 20s in The Stockade and into the 30s, lots of different people did it. I rolled a warrior and they were bored between Raid cooldowns.

I don’t mind, it was a pipe dream to think our brains would rewind back to 2005 anyway and we’d all happily hopscotch through lvl 1-60 by questing our little hearts out.

My only “issue” with it is that mages can easily make 4x more gold than any other class, luckily they currently overfarm and end up sitting on way more gold than they could ever realistically spend so other classes are still competitive but if that’s gonna last, who knows.

That’s not quite the same as the 2g per run Stockades boosts or 6g SM Arm / Cath boosts that constantly spammed at any time I’m logged in, or people LFB constantly.

Well … i have an alt mage and 60% of my friends do have mage / mage alt. Rest are realizing the mistake, exping one now

Yep, I’m holding off for as long as I can but I’m sure I’ll need a mage at some point too :frowning:

All the current big boosts (sm cath 1 pull, maraudon 1pull etc) are there as a result of us running on legion client and mobs pathing working the way it does in legion client. These pulls would not be possible in the same way if we were running on the old 1.12.1 client.

If you are already thinking about boosting, Retail is your game.

It’s disgusting and it singlehandedly destroyed the joy of leveling.
It takes up to 2days sometimes to find the right people to run a dungeon higher as SFK.
Thanks retail mentality.

best thing that happened in classic.leveling is the worst aspect almost of any game

Is it really “retail mentality” ? I remember during vanilla ppl were craving for boosts, the higher lvl i got, the more whispers i got for boosts from complete strangers. I even had ppl join my guild just to get boosted, when they found out we were not their tools they gquit.

I can understand your disappointment but i guess that “retail-mentality” is prolly just human nature, not bound to any of the wow versions and you just might want to reconsider your opinion.

I will not,
Simply because it resembles retail perfectly.
Take the path of least resistance.

well ignoring what i said about vanilla times sure does you good, prolly you just need something to take your frustration out on, i don’t blame you

Boosting was wayyyyyy more prevalent in vanilla, but it was all done in guild by buddies, it just wasn’t a “paid/sold” service as it is now.
Who doesn’t remember just mindless running deadmines/stockades to gear a friends twink. Also the Xp was way better in vanilla, you didn’t have the level difference nerf on grouped xp.

Any proof of that? what does it change ?

How is it retail mentality exactly?

It’s private server mentality as well, if it was retail mentality… they would’ve gone back to retail lol.
Boosting existed in vanilla/bc/wotlk.
Every game has boosting xD.

I’m guessing you never even touched vanilla/BC though.

i already acknowledged boosting existed in vanilla. Just it was never 5x faster than normal leveling. The SM, and Maraudon single pull boots are very much modern phenomenons, that produce insane amounts of xp/hr

Well thing is a lot of things existed back then. But very few people knew about them or how to do them. Today with the thousands of videos on “MAKE 100g/h”, “Fastest way to level”, “Best spec for…”, boss tactics, bis lists, farm spots, guides and so on EVERYONE knows them. So if they change that they have to change a lot of things…
The boosting leave it as is. I don’t get why people play classic if they are going to be boosted but to each his own. And before someone says “but this is my fifth character…” If you are not having fun DON’T LEVEL FIVE CHARACTERS!
